Matt,

Every DAC I've owned has improved after 200-300 hours of burn-in. I do this by playing John Hagerman's burn-in MP3 on repeat.

Drop me an email off-list if you want me to mail you the MP3.

Thought I would throw this out there and see if anything pops up. I need a small
monitor (anywhere between 8 and 15 inches or so) to use with my PC music server.
Mainly for setup and config, as I plan on using an iPad for music control.

Hey Ward,
Those little guys are tough to come by. I've got an extra dell monitor that
measures 13 inches tall by 17 wide. If that could work, your more than welcome
to it.

Hi guys,
As you know or don't know during May I was in the hospital most of the month
fighting a kidney infection. I am now home and feeling better but still have not
been able to attend many club activities. I could really use some company. As
you might know my main system is Maggie 3.6r's driven by ASL Hurricane
monoblocks and a Shindo preamp. I have a Basis turntable and Sony 5400 sacd
player so I can play all formats. If anybody would like to visit to listen to
some good music and talk audio please let me know
Alan

Congratulations on your recovery, Alan.

But wow, I've been dying to hear/see Shindo components for years! I can imagine
you have a very musical system.

I read the pitch perfect blog <http://pitchperfectaudio.wordpress.com/> just so
I can see photos of those beautiful green cases. And Shindo with Basis and ASL
KT88s? Wow!

I got it in one of those funky shops on S. Congress in Austin, about four years

I always wondered what those initials meant on my class ring. Anyway, had a nice
time at David's this weekend. A true audio enthusiast, David has more speakers
than rooms. After some speaker shootouts, we did a short bike ride for some cold
brews on a HOT afternoon. Thanks David

David is a great guy and his audio enthusiasm is infectious and reminds me of when I first 'dived' into this addictive hobby we call audio.  Speaking of feeding an addiction; anyone going to the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver in October?  My wife and I already have tickets and reservations and had a great time last year at our first RMAF.  This is truly a one of a kind event for hobbyists as it leans towards the audiophile and not the dealers/distributors.

Luther,
I had a great time hanging out and I really appreciate your input on my setup.
When I hear suspect nuances in my system, it really helps to hear a veteran
audiophile's take on the issue. We have a lot of educated ears in the group and
it's really helpful for us newbies.
I hope the screen works out and I'll bring you a copy of the Marcy Playground we
listened to. Maybe we play it for the group and get their take on techno? :)

David B, I'm going to look into Rocky Mountain. I'd love to go!!
I need some new idea's as I've decided to sell my Harbeth Super HL5s. I think
they're a little too laid back for some of the music I listen to, as much as I
do love them.

If anyone in the group is interested, yall have first dibs before I set them up
on Agon in a week from now. You're all more than welcome to swing by for a
listen.

Alan, As soon as I get a chance, I'm going to call you to come check out those
Maggies. I'm interested to hear how they compare to my Ohm Walsh Mk5.

Best to all,
Dave W

It was a treat to hear Glenn Gould on Alan's Odyssey/Shindo/3.6R rig. That was
some of the most transparent reproduction I've heard in a long time.

Playing Rush in 5.1 on your home theater was a real eye opener, too.

Good luck getting your ASL back up and running.

By the way, Alan wants to hear my systems. Maybe we can setup a mini meet and have a few others over at the same time.

hearing Eva Cassidy on his maggies. Wow is all that needs be said. I'm

Greetings to all members. Please note that I have posted the pictures (taken by
our great club photographer Don) from our June meeting to the web site. Sorry
for the delay, I have been under the weather with a nasty sinus infection..but
am now enjoying a steady diet of antibiotics & steroids so I expect to be better
soon. Please note we havent picked a topic yet for the next meeting, so I would
like to hear from you so John and i can put the meeting together. Hope you all
enjoy the pictures. It was a great Saturday and Galen really came through with a
door prize for everyone in attendance. It was also fun to hear the Bryston BDP-1
digital player and meet Tom McGehee (from dallas) as well as Lee Sosby who gave
us the main presentation on Musical Fidelity products. John and I also
appreciate that everyone who RSVP'd showed up for the meeting. As our club
becomes more established and grows we hope to get other hi fi reps to visit and
give us further product demonstrations. Thanks again to everyone!

Great afternoon guys. Four hours seem to fly by. Thanks Alan, Gene, Bob, John
and John. At least, that's what I think your names are. I'm horrible with names.
Anyway, glad you all could make it over. I really enjoyed playing all the
different systems, the different music and even the home theater demo. Needless
to say, there are many roads to nirvana. Big or small, high power or flea power,
bookshelf or floorstander, new or old, DIY or store, vinyl or digital, server or
iPod; they all sound nice. Different yes, better is subjective. Remember the
only person who has to like your system is you.

Thanks again guys, we'll have to do this more often. See you at the next meet at

The next RCAS club meeting will be held on 16 July 11. This is a change from
the previously announced & published date. The topic for the meeting will be
bookshelf speakers. We are asking members to bring a pair of speakers, bookshelf
type only. No Focal Grand Utopia or Maggie 3.7's allowed! We will provide the
speaker stands & a very good system. We would like to get at least six and no
more than eight sets of speakers to listen to. As always, this is just for our
enjoyment and is not a contest or a critical evaluation. We would also like each
member who brings a pair of speakers to be prepared to tell us a little about
the speaker. Finally, we will have door prizes (again), and those members who
bring speakers will be entered twice in the drawing for prizes. I will be
finalizing our meeting location this week (it should be Bjorns) and then sending
out our usual email announcements. If you can bring a pair of speakers to this
meeting please contact me as soon as possible. Happy listening, Bob
