Description

This group was created by the Riggs Institute for teachers, parents and students to share their experience using the Riggs method of teaching. Membership must be approved by the group moderator. THIS RIGGS INSTITUTE GROUP IS THE ONLY OFFICIAL ONE MODERATED BY THE ORGANIZATION ON YAHOO.

The Riggs Institute is a non-profit literacy agency which provides curriculum and training to change the way people think about Writing, Spelling, Reading, and Thinking. The Riggs method combines phonics-based spelling with corresponding phonemes/graphemes, and is based on the research of Dr. Samuel T. Orton and the Spaulding method of instruction. The Riggs method addresses all learning styles by teaching in a multisensory format. By including sight, sound, voice, and writing in the instruction, no student is left behind.

Our main text is "The Writing and Spelling Road to Reading and Thinking" by Myrna T. McCulloch, founder of the Riggs Institute.
