On May 16, 2008, at 7pm, Vancouver cyclists will ride in mourning for those killed and injured in the streets. All road casualties, including non-cyclists, will be commemorated.

We mourn all forms of violence inflicted by motor vehicles on our communities.

This procession quietly communicates our determination, and our strength. We call attention to cycling as both a responsible mode of transportation & a manifestation of respect for living things.

We'll meet at the Grandview Park cenotaph, 1200 block of Commercial Drive (at Charles), at 6:30pm for quiet words & a discussion of route & protocol. The ride will commence at 7:00pm, be conducted in silence using handsignals, & will terminate at Victory Square, E. Hastings & Hamilton after about an hour.

This will be a street ride; we will ride together & the pace will be easy.

Black or other funereal clothing is encouraged, as are black arm bands. Additionally, you may wish to wear a red armband if you have been involved in a crash with a motor vehicle. You may wish to adorn your bikes/trailers with flowers or black crepe.
