Mormon lady sing in tongues - Both she and husband speak in tongues sometimes when ministering to highly distressed people in abusive situations.  The devil flees.

Subject: [888] Interesting email

Dear DOs,

Once in awhile I receive an interesting email.  The below email is such--a Mormon who casts out demons and who sings and speaks in tongues.  Lynn

Lynn, Yes, David and I both are blessed with the gift of tongues. It seems to be used mostly in the direct times we have dealt with the devil and his demons. We've had to use it on 2 occasions of breaking up crack houses. And once in a child molestation case. The people were delivered of drugs, but I'm not sure about the child molestation case. I'm pretty sure she left the guy. We are usually called by someone with a desperate need. We can actually feel the evil in the house or on the person; yes, it has been used for deliverance. One gal got totally delivered from drinking and a man too. I don't really understand it. It is a heavenly language, because when I went to a Hebrew dictionary some of the words were there. It's also a protection because Satan literally flees when it is said. God says he would rather we speak one word of understanding than a bunch in tongues, but it does work. Each church knows in part and David and I have been blessed in each church. The early Mormon Church spoke in tongues. My dad once told me a Baptist church in Washington was having a meeting and the Holy Ghost fell on them and they all started speaking in tongues and the higher ups told them to stop it! How can you stop something that the Lord wants you to have? If you want it, all you have to do is ask for it. It just swells up in side of you and comes out. I can even sing in tongues with notes I can only call heavenly because it's nothing I've ever heard before. It's so beautiful.

Linda, Lynn Ridenhour here, Independence, MO.

I can't begin to tell you what a joy it is to hear from you. You're the first Mormon I've ever corresponded with who moves in the gifts of the Spirit; i.e., casting out demons and speaking in tongues. And singing in tongues! What a blessed experience.

The manifested power of God among the early restoration saints is one of the things that so attracted me to this movement. Joseph manifested the power of God. And so did so many of the other saints during his day.

In fact, the very first miracle of the church was a deliverance session led by our beloved Prophet, Joseph. The saints were attending their first conference in Newel Knight's house. Mr. Knight's son, Joseph, was too shy to pray. Joseph cast the evil spirit from the young man. Immediately the power of God came upon him and the young man literally floated to the top of the ceiling. His head was pressing against the beams of the ceiling.

Many witnessed the miracle and became baptized members as a result. The first miracle of the restoration!

I'm really convinced--any expression of Christianity that does not include, and practice, the gifts of the Spirit is really "sub par" Christianity.

You mentioned singing in the Spirit. That is such a beautiful sound--to hear someone sing in tongues. It truly is heavenly.

What a delight to meet you via cyberspace.

Lynn
