Time: All Day
1.Go to www.littletonlibrary.org and click on “New
Materials” on the lower left side of the screen.
All materials, including children's books are listed.
Clicking on a title will take you directly to the record for the
item so that you can quickly see whether the item is on the
shelf. Call [978-486-4046] or email
[mli@...] us to have an item saved for you.
If the Littleton copy is out, just click on "Request Item" and
the material will come from another library. If you click on
"Request Item" when the material is on our shelf, you may arrive
in the library and find that we have yet to get the notice that
you want the item. Also remember that if you request an item,
it will come. Don't ask for more than you can read in three
weeks.

Massachusetts Children’s Book Award
Date: Friday, March 11, 2005
Time: 10:00AM - 4:00PM EST (GMT-05:00)
The last chance to vote for this award is March 11. Vote for
your favorite book from the Master List in the Curran
Children’s Room at the Reuben Hoar Library.
Even if you have missed out on voting this year use the Master
List to choose books fourth, fifth or sixth graders will enjoy
reading. Ask Mrs. Haduch or Mrs. Sill to show you a copy of the
list.
Participate in the Laid Back Book Group. No meetings, no deadlines,
no requirements. Copies of David Baldacci's "Wish You
Well" are on display in the front lobby. Pick one up today. Read
it
if you have time and comment on it if you wish. Discussion questions,
comment forms and information about Baldacci are with the books. If
you prefer to listen to the book or read it in large print, let a
staff member request the format you want from another library. This
title is even available in Spanish.
If you belong to a regular book club that might have multiple copies
of a title others would enjoy, the library would love to have
donations. We are beginning to run out of books for which we have
multiple copies available. We need 15+ copies for each monthly
selection.
We regret that the library is closed today. Inclement weather is a
factor, but another factor is a disruption in the telecommunication
line between the library and the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium.
The telecommunications company has been working to repair the line
since last Thursday, but so far has had no success. We hope that full
service will be restored by Monday afternoon. In any event, the
library will open at 10 a.m. on Monday.
You can get assistance with your reference questions by going to the
library's web site [www.littletonlibrary.org], clicking on "Databases"
and then clicking on "Chat Reference" on the left sidebar. You will
be logged into a chat session with a live librarian who can help you.
All full-text magazine articles are available by going to "Databases"
as well. If you have a child who has a biography report due, go to
InfoTrac and search the Biography Resource Center. A search for
"Condoleezza Rice" located 5 narrative biographies, several shorter
entries and more than 100 full text magazine artieles. A search in
Kids' Edition found 4 articles from Junior Scholastic, Weekly Reader
and Time for Kids.
You may renew and request materials by going to the library's web
site, clicking on MVLC catalog and logging in with your library card
number (no spaces) and your PIN which is the last 4 digits of your
phone number unless you have changed it.
Our apoligies for any inconvenience this disruption in service has
caused you.

Just to clarify: all "My List" data will be saved except for anything
added today. Do not add items that you want to keep to "My List"

WHEN YOU SEARCH FOR "EDGAR ALLAN POE," YOU GET MORE QUESTIONS
THAN ANSWERS...
Did you go to high school with Edgar Allan Poe?
You're familiar with the kinds of information that you'll get
from a simple search on one of the major internet search
engines.
Do you want to buy an Edgar Allan Poe T-shirt?
You're well-acquainted with the fact that the "com"
in dot-com is the "com" from company — as in "commerce."
Do you want to search for Edgar Allan Poe auction items?
You're also painfully aware that the same search engines that
you depend on for factual information are selling premium space
on their pages to merchants from six continents. Not to mention
that many Web sites are hosted by enthusiasts who have a
passionate interest in a subject, but not necessarily all the
facts.
…or were you actually trying to find reliable information
about the American poet, writer and journalist?
We know where to find the dependable information you're looking
for: in the
library.
We know because we supply libraries with some of their most
trusted reference
sources — books and online databases.
We've been doing it for more than 50 years.
In case you've overlooked this valuable source of information
lately,
we'd like to reacquaint you with the rich, reliable resources
that can be
