This listserv will unite researchers interested in studying the World Bank as a global organization. Thus, this listserv does not concern itself with the themes in international development that the Bank treats. Instead, it unites a multi-disciplinary body of scholars interested in the Bank as a social and political entity in its own right, whether as a creator of global norms and knowledge, as a complex organizational phenomenon or as a historical institution.
The purpose of this list is to maintain an informal and independent network of researchers examining the World Bank from a variety of disciplines and locations. This list will particularly serve the community of scholars and students conducting research on and of the World Bank. In addition to the general exchange of ideas, postings are likely to include special journal issue announcements, calls for papers and grant applications, interesting policy developments relevant for researchers of the World Bank, website recommendations, potential PhD topics, new book and publication releases, methodological approaches to studying global organizations, etc.
