Background:
As part of the Tatton Park Biennial 2012 exhibition, I would like to use a
pre-1939 type receiver for a commemorative transmission between The Cloud
(Congleton) and Tatton Park, Cheshire.
The objective
The objective is to bring alive elements of 1920s/1930s radio amateur practice
in the UK. Maurice Egerton (6TP), the last Baron of Tatton (M.E.), was a serious
early radio amateur. His logs and notes have survived (..."Dear BRS 98, I hope
you received me OK yesterday. I am now on 5 metres, so shall be transmitting on
that W/L next weekend. By the way, please remember that officially I can be on
either 10,8 or 5M; and the GPO are sometimes glad to be able to pick on a
discrepancy in W/L, if they hear of it. 6TP").
My message:
I am looking for help either in borrowing/procuring or making a receiver which
could be used during an event (hopefully with an event call sign incorporating
M.E.'s 6TP (Mai to October period).
Ideally I would purchase or borrow a suitable piece of equipment. Alternatively
I am looking for help in making one. I am an artist. In preparation of the event
I obtained a Tull Licence recently (I am M0OFI). In the case of having to make
the equipment I would base the receiver on M.E.'s notes and the Radio Society's
T&R Magazine of the late 1920s.
Can someone help me find equipment or support me in procuring components and
making the piece?
