Description

Welcome to the Rawson Owners' Network. This group is for owners and fans of the Rawson 30, a heavily built fiberglass sailing vessel from the Pacific Northwest that is a proven blue water cruiser. By early 1969 seven Rawson 30s had been sailed from the west coast to Hawaii, two to Tahiti, and one to Australia. At least three of these full-keel plastic classics have completed circumnavigations.

Ron Rawson was the first builder in the United States of fiberglass commercial fishing boats. As such, his philosophy was to build a boat to last. The twelve thousand pound Rawson 30 is about thirty-three percent heavier than the average 30-foot fiberglass sailboat, making her extremely rugged. The five thousand pounds of ballast make her stiff to stand up and sail and avoid knockdowns. The high freeboard makes her dry topside, as well as providing more internal volume for living space below. These factors combine to make the Rawson 30 unusually seaworthy.

Designed by William Garden and built by Ron Rawson in Washington State there were 252 sloops and 36 pilot house models built between 1959 and 1985.

The Rawson has been offered with and without a bowsprit, as a sloop, a ketch, a cutter, and with a pilothouse. Have fun, and enjoy.
