I agree with Ralph.

The CSQ/PL model will NOT generate a 1750 Hz tone burst but the select 5
model will.

I have had my T2040 mounted in my truck for a long time now, one day I was
attempting to make communication with someone, and my TX audio wasn't going
anywhere... I've tested everything, following the service manual, and have
tracked it down to be somewhere on the main control board...

I've been getting frustrated with it lately, as it's been in parts on my work
bench, with no luck... I actually ended up just hitting it multiple times with a
screwdriver, and sure enough, the TX audio gets all the way through!
I left it for around 10 mins, came back and checked it, and it had stopped
working, so I, again, hit it with a screwdriver multiple times, and it's started
transmitting audio again...

I cannot find the problem, nothing around the audio circuitry looks at all
loose.

Could someone give me some tips?

Thanks,

Joseph Morrison

The american GP300 is not able to transmit 1750 when I remember correctly.
The european version with 5-tone is needed to have single tone.

MDC1200 is a digital system, has nothing to do with single tone, and
entering 1750 just will send the digital ID 1750 what has nothing to do with
a tone.

Ralph.

the "normal" gp300 and select5 will do ctcss, if that helps? It's called "PL
Tone" in moto-speak.

The closest thing to 1750 would be to send selcall digit 8 in either EEA or CCIR
format (1747 hz). Bear in mind this tone would probably be sent every time you
key up on that channel though.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows a better hack.

That must be a non North American version because, you're right on the SMP4004,
it lists the SM2450 and SM2550 but not the SM2541.  I'm betting it's European
and the software is likely going to be DOS.

I'm not sure if it can send a 1750 Hz tone...

MDC is something *completely* different - if you program "1750" into the MDC
ID blank, the radio will send a "squawk" sound each time it transmits that
would decode on another MDC radio as "1750"... It is basically a way to
identify the radio over the air, *NOT* a specific tone frequency. MDC1200
can also be used to allow and/or block system access.

Sorry.

there is a field programming mode, but it only works if it has not been
disabled using the cable and software(generally it is left enabled).
If it HAS been disabled, there is a pair of pads on the circuit board near
the display that can be momentarily shorted to re-enable it.
Of course, if you have the cable and software, you can re-enable it that
way.
And yes, the cable is Kenwood compatible.
The software and manuals are "out there" if you spend a bit of time with a
search engine.

I have an issue with my Motorola XTS3000 and it maybe a programming issue. I
have CPS R05.02.01 and have programmed a local repeater in that just recently
went narrowband and changed the PL tone to a DPL tone. I have the correct tones
and frequency however when the XTS is in scan mode it will not stop on that
channel. I can manually put the radio on the channel and hear traffic. The
channel is in the scan list both in the software and appears in the scan list
from the radio. Does anyone have any idea what may be the problem. This is the
only problem I have with any of my radios on this particular repeater.

Thanks

Not real familiar with TRK radios.

I picked up a 900 mhz - M01WJN4PW6CN.

It did not come with a head. I took a Mod III head from another 900 mhz
radio and stuck it on there.

Turn it on and it says UNPROGRAMMED.

I read the radio and it does have a codeplug in it with 4 conv personalities
and 1 trk personality.

I modified 2 of the conv pers and write back to the radio and get a WRITE
SUCCESSFUL pop up. But the radio still says UNPROGRAMMED in display and
emits continuous tone.

This radio is intended for my car on the HAM band. Have modded the CPS to
program 902 / 927. S/W Works fine,

Advice?

Thanks

Hi.

I have been given two Motorola Handi Pro handsets with the old SRBR 461meg
frequencies.

Do any of you guys out there know if:

A. These sets are capable of being reprogrammed and
B. If so, does anyone know of suitable software and cable etc.

So little information on these sets are available on the web, so suspect it is a
case of into the trash bin.

Any suggestions etc gratefully received.

Im having some trouble programming a Kenwood TK-7162.
I am using software KPG-99d on win7, 64bit, which seems to run fine. I am using
an RJ11 6pin cable to serial USB, which I am told is all compatible, with
drivers installed etc.
When I attempt to read the radio, the display goes to P, but I get an error
message: Check model Name and Market Code. (I have Model set to 7160 VHF K

When I click retry, I get the following: Check all connections and COM port
settings.
the COM port seems to be fine.
Just wondering if anyone has ever come across this before, or if I need to
change anything in the settings??
Thank you all in advance for your help.
