Thanks for all your input.
The reason I bought the new fm transmitter was to replace an older one ( about
25 years old) ,the older one still worked well, but I figured it would pack it
in soon. What disappointed me, was that the older transmitter seemed to transmit
a stereo signal a lot further than the new one despite being only half the
power. I have contacted the manufacturer several times, but it is difficult
dealing with them since they live in Isreal.
So, how does one check whether one has a the correct pilot signal level?
Thanks for your help.
Mike

a -3 radio is 400-430 mhz. It might be possible to go a little high.
Might have to adjust the vco tuning to lock.

I use a -1 450-490 down to 440

Hi Chris,

Start the program with this DOS command: ce22 -p
That's "ce22 space dash p"

Program opens as normal, but when you press F2 you get the common data screen
with the highlighter positioned on the PTT1 State item. The arrow keys move the
highlighter about the window and the spacebar toggles settings.

I'm trying this out on v2.10, which behaves the same in that respect as v2.00.
Should work for you.

Thanks for Posting this I have the Same Question about the X9000 I don't

Radio out /PA

Happy Holidays

Is there a place in the codeplug that you can hack to allow the Airhorn but
disallow the full siren?

I know there is ON / OFF for siren that allows the PA to work, but, having
the air horn feature would be nice when the siren is disabled..

Thanks,

Wolfy

Go here, http://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid/, and type in the FCC ID and it

After installing the driver for the USB-to-serial converter built into
the cord go to system> hardware> device manager> view> show hidden
devices> ports. Make sure your ribless usb to serial cable is set to
the same COM port number as your motorola software. (COM1 or COM2)

If that fails try genuine motorola cables and a rib, or at least a
serial aftermarket cable.

I have seen the airhorn feature of a siren control box connected to
the horn ring in the steering wheel to "replace" the stock horn. You
could consider doing that and somehow concealing the siren control if
it's possible with your model..

You can run the air horn when the siren is not active, just assign the

Thanks for Posting this I have the Same Question about the X9000 I don't
trust my Grandkids and would like to be able to just use the Air Horn and
Radio out /PA

Happy Holidays

Don KA9QJG

Is there a place in the codeplug that you can hack to allow the Airhorn but
disallow the full siren?

I know there is ON / OFF for siren that allows the PA to work, but, having
the air horn feature would be nice when the siren is disabled..

Thanks,

Wolfy

These radios use an internal 2716 or 2732 eprom for program.
Need to open the radio & pull out the eprom.
Typically you would use the Standard programmer to blow the chips.
May be able to use a programmer that will read & write to a 2716 or 2732 eprom.
Also found this fellow who burns eproms.

To swap information about programming two-way radio equipment and enabling
options that aren't commonly known about. Focusing o
The gx3000 and gx400 use the same eprom programming. The former is a 40watt
mobile, the latter a handheld.
Robert Purvis, VE3INY wrote a small hex calculator program that if you input
the tx and rx frequencies it will spit out the appropriate hex code to put in
the eprom. The eprom used is a 2716.Bob also has a lot of info about how to mod
the gx3000 to use for ham apps.
There is a gx3000 user group in yahoogroups with some info on it.
