Thanks for the info.
What size of capacitors should I use, and how should they be soldered on the
VCO.
Thanks, I have never had to change a radio like this before, so all the help
is apreacheated.

Thanks again,

Neither the Syntor X nor 9000 from the usual 152-174 MHz range have hardware
capable of functioning properly below 149 MHz. The receiver will be
essentially deaf because the front end rolls off at that frequency and must
be re-tuned to cover down to 145.000. The front end is sweep tuned and
really requires a spectrum analyzer and a tracking generator to do it right,
although you may find that just touching up the two helical resonator
adjustments nearest the mixer brings the sensitivity back for the ham band.

The transmitter may or may not work down to 144. Some VCO's lock all the
way down and others do not. The common modification for that is to remove
the VCO cover and add back some of the jumpers which have been snipped from
the stripline sections on the ceramic board. I did not find that to work
for me; if it doesn't for you, you'll have to refer to the manual to try
adding fixed capacitors as necessary to lower the VCO lock range.

SO - somehow I managed to brick this mobile radio - I read the unit
without changing the band up above in the top menu of the software - I
had just programmed a VHF SM-1525 before this, correctly - the UHF radio
did read and had all kinds of different frequencies in the channel
information, but not any UHF frequencies, and now it won't take a write
no matter how hard I try. It sits and blinks zero on the display.
Subsequent readings keep bringing up various freqencies, but nothing
that resembles UHF. The radio did work before, as I had programmed it
a few years ago.

Is there a way to reset the controller in the radio? Something I'm
missing in the software? Any other ideas?

Using the regular Uniden programming software with the AMX-501
interface - old 486 benchtop - always worked well before (except now,
when I'm trying to remember how to use it...)

I would exit the program, re-start the program and select the specific model
radio before attempting to read or write the radio. If this fails try
re-starting the program and creating a codeplug with a few channels in it
and write to the unit. Then try reading and writing the radio again.

Hi All
I'm trying to program a Vertex Standard VX-2100E-D0-25 VHF Mobile.
I've got a CT-104 lead and the CE-82 v2.0 software but whenever I try to
program the radio all I get is error message of 'Switch Radio On!'
Should I be using a very slow computer ?
Is there any quirk that I'm not familiar with ?
Many thanks for any help you can offer

Blake, don't worry about it. If this is the same Thomas Neves that believes he
has been a "communications technician for many years in the USA", a firefighter,
and is the "Proprietor of two way radio shop" asking these types of questions,
"you can lead a horse to water but...." If it is a different Thomas Neves
asking a question and responding in the inappropriate way that he did, again,
"you can lead a horse to water but...." Either way don't let it discourage you
or Eric from helping others that ask.

Does anyone somewhat local to the NJ area have a Midland XTR / Syntech II
programming cable they are willing to part with? I have a need for one and don't
want to spend top dollar for a programming cable that only works with out of

I would like to get the programming done in the next day or two. That is why I
am looking for local shipping.

Thanks.

Hi Stephen and congrats on getting your ticket. I have several GP350s and the
programming of them is pretty straight forward as long as they are already
properly aligned. The RSS is quite simple for the most part and easy to
navigate. If you'd like I can email you a GP350 codeplug so you could explore
the different areas of the software and get familiar with it. Let me know and
welcome to the group.

Did you ever think to let "a lot of others" speak for themselves? Who are "a lot
of others"? And when did anyone trying to HELP you "berate" you? For the people
who were trying to help you, do you think they will help you again if you have a
question? I followed the thread all the way through. The only thing I read was
you slamming someone trying to help you. If you don't understand something how
do you know what information is needed for someone to answer your question
correctly? If you don't ask a specific question you will not receive a specific
answer. As for me personally I did not "berate" you because of your question but
because of you inappropriately slamming people. Please be as specific as you can
when you ask a question and you will probably get the answer you need. Agreed on
"Now lets get off this subject and move on" and no further responses will be
sent to this thread.

There was for a short while Motorola Astro Digital VSELP that was exclusively
Motorola that is no longer used or supported but great to use because if I am
not mistaken, current digital scanners can't decipher the now obsolete VSELP so
great for someone to use to keep privacy,This is the precursor to the current
Motorola IMBE Digital which is the technology in use by other manufacturers.

I have the software CS-F11 ADJ to calibrate the radio IC-F11/F21, but when I
tried get in the radio, I have a windows that says; check port, cable and radio
to be ON. But the thing is, I CAN read the radio with the regular software to
program it, CS-F11. And I have no problem to read and write with my 3 radios,
but I can not do anything with the software CS-F11 ADJ. Anyone can help me
what is wrong, maybe it happens to someone else.

By the way, the version of CS-F11 ADJ is 1.2.

Thanks

This isn't really a question on how to do something I don't know how to do but
rather a question of people's opinions. I'm curious for all the Waris Series
(HT750, HT1250, HT1550, etc.) users in this group what settings do you like to
use for setting up your transmit audio / mic audio? What has worked best for
you? I'm referring to mic gain settings, compression type (full compression,
AGC mode), etc. I'd also be curious to know what experience people in the group
have had with the different recieve audio settings including expansion types
(low-level, full expansion, AGC mode), etc. Just looking for a little input on
these areas as I've been doing a little experimenting with my radio. Thanks and
Happy Holidays to the group.

I remember experimenting with this a few years back.

I don't recall what I liked or dis liked per setting but I know I have my
radios set as follows

Compression Type Disabled

Expansion Type Disabled

Emphasis Selection De-Emphasis & Pre-Emphasis

I use the default settings on both my VHF and UHF radio fleets, and they
work just fine and are completely compatible with other radio systems:

Microphone Gain - 25.5 dB
Accessory Mic Gain - 28.5 dB
Compression Type - Disabled
Expansion Type - Disabled
Emphasis Selection - De-emphasis & Pre-emphasis

AGC action is neither necessary nor desirable. I use only Motorola
accessories, and I feel no need to experiment with these settings.

Kinda, sorta, maybe.
APCO P25 Phase I, uses the IMBE vocoder by DVSI [NOT Motorola].
ALL manufacturers pay royalties for the use of that vocoder, including all the
scanners that can decode P25.
