Group,

Is there anyone here who would be willing to share with me a good clean
copy of DOS version 6.22 and Windows 3.1 that is directly from the
original disks that I can download?

Doug

I have a couple of Motorola CP 200 radios and was wondering what the
actual name of the programming software was for that radio and what is
the latest version of it.

I had gotten a download for the CP200 radio but when I started to
install it, I got a msg saying that I already have it installed. Could
it be the same software for the CM300 Radio?

I am also desperately looking for the software for the BPR40 MagOne
radios. Anyone able and willing to help out? RVN4081D (I think).

Thanks

Ray,

The CP200 radio requires RVN4191 CPS. The most recent issue is RVN4191L, as
version R05.07.00. If you are upgrading to a newer version of the CPS,
choose the "repair" or "upgrade" option. The same CPS is used for CP150,
CM200, CM300, PR400, and PM400 radios.

According to MOL, the CPS for the BPR40 Mag One radio is RVN5081. The most
recent issue is RVN5081D, as version R02.01.00.

Kenwood sometimes has a beta version out there that has not been released yet.
If you go on Kenwood's Dealer site the most recent version of KPG44D is 2.02.

If that is true, then why have I seen 2.1.4?

Is 2.02 older than 2.1.4?

I've seen version 2.1.4 thats why I ask.

Hello Group,

I was wondering if anyone had the pinout for the db25 connectors on high power
spectra. And has anyone experimented with using a spectra high power in a
repeater configuration? I have heard of it being done with the radio being
turned down.

Thanks

Is there a RIB in the Tait 2020 programming cable? The information
provided in t2000 series cable.bmp seems to indicate the cable is a
straight plug-to-plug. I am planning to build one and obviously don't
want ot fry the radio or computer.

I suspect that computer will be fine for all the DOS programs listed
except the HT600. That software is picky and may not work. Give it a
try and see. If you put Windows 98 SE (preferred) or Windows 95 or 98
OSR1 with DCOM serial port patch on the computer instead of Windows
3.1, it will probably work for the windows versions of software for
the models you have listed as well.

I like using the windows versions of KPG49 and KPG44 for the 280 and
790 rather than the dos versions especially if I am moving channels
around. On the windows versions you can just cut and paste. So much
easier than retyping.

Some of the newer programs are starting to come out with vista
compatible versions. Some of the newer Vertex Standard software and I
think Motorola Astro 25 12.0 will work with vista.

Good luck and I think you made a good in the middle choice for a
programming computer, especially for DOS stuff.

John

Thanks John, I really appreciate the comments and the provided information. I
have a copy of 98 se I will probably try installing that and DOS 6.22 on my IBM
thinkpad 600 when it gets here. Im thinking about getting a large hard dish too
if available, increase from 3GB to 6 or 8 GB. I want to be able to keep ALL my
files on the laptop... :)

Doug

P.S. I am definetly set on using the Windows KPG-44 for the Kenwood TK-790, That
radio I definetly will not go back to dos on...

Is there a RIB in the Tait 2020 programming cable? The information
provided in t2000 series cable.bmp seems to indicate the cable is a
straight plug-to-plug. I am planning to build one and obviously don't
want ot fry the radio or computer.

TIA

I would with the other poster who suggested that win98se would be a
better choice than win3.1 or even win95 if 98se is not available....

I have two Compaq 486's, one with WIN98SE the other with WIN95. I see no
difference in ability to program radios. I have found new, sealed, copies of
both at Flea Markets for $5-10.

Dick,

Not in electronic form. What part of the manual and what band do you
need? I could scan parts for you.

I thought I would get one to put on 6 or 10 meters. I usually collect all the
pertinent data I can so I have it if I need it.

Let me see if I can find the whole manuals, failing that I may be back !!

Tnx for the offer,

What's a good Hex Editor for the older DOS programs ? I would rather
it be Freeware.

Dick,

There are more than a dozen MaraTrac manuals, please be more specific.
Check out the list here:
<www.repeater-builder.com/motorola/maratrac/maratrac.html>
What model number is your MaraTrac?

There seems to be only one RSS Manual listed:
6880102W24 RSS Manual
As far as the Service Manual, I'll probably try to get all three:
6880102W87 UHF Radio, 100 Watts, T74XTA7---BK series6880102W94 VHF Radio, 100
Watts, T73XTA7---BK series6880102W95 Low Band Radio, 110 Watts, T81XTA7---BK
series

For the time being, I'll take what I can get as I am exploring the use
of the Maratrac, I don't have a specific radio in hand.

Thanks for clarifying this,

73, Dick, W1KSZ

Hi Dick,

Just do a Google search on "Hex Editor" there are heaps of them out there.

I have used HexEdit 1.03 myself as well as HEdit and they both worked fine
for me.
