I think the latest CPS is 5.02. If you mean RSS R05.60 then sure it
will read it. Your radio may need a firmware update if it's that old.

Good luck

Hello all,

I have a 3 channel Motorola LTR system for sale. This system will
be listed on eBay starting tomorrow at 12:00pm PST. The asking
price for the radio system is $16,500.00 or best offer. I also have
40 Motorola CDM1250LS+ mobiles (4 configured as control stations)
available as well. For the package with the mobiles I am asking
$25,000.00 or best offer. This equipment was purchased new in 2003
for over $60,000.00.

This radio system was fully functioning system when taken out of
service a few weeks ago.

The Motorola LTR system includes all equipment listed below:

2 - 7' Equipment racks loaded with the following radio equipment
3 - Trident Raider Logic Trunking Controllers
3 - Motorola RKR1225 Repeaters
3 - TPL RXR Series 100 watt Power Amplifiers
1 - Telewave Receiver Distribution Panel (Model TWR8-450-2RSP)
3 - Telewave Dual Isolators with Dummy Loads (Model T-4560)
3 - Telewave Terminations (Model TWL-100)
1 - Telewave Preselector (Model TPCP-4542)
1 - Telewave Combiner (Model M101-450-3TP3Q)

Includes all filtering cans and connection cables.

Does NOT include base Antenna!

The current frequencies these repeaters are programmed to are:
1. 452.3000/457.3000
2. 452.1500/457.1500
3. 452.4250/457.4250

Buyer is responsible for FCC Licensing. If these frequencies can
not be licensed in your area, buyer is also responsible to
reprogram/retune radio equipment to their frequencies.

This radio equipment is in excellent condition. We are located in
St. Louis, MO. This equipment must be picked up locally, or Buyer
is responsible for making arrangments with Freight Carrier. Of
course we will help coordinate pick up of this equipment. Please
email me off line if you are interested in this radio equipment.

Thanks!

Greg

Group,

Does anyone have a copy of the service manual for the Kenwood TK-730
series that they would be willing to either email to me direct or
upload it to the files section here on the site?

Thanks

   Roland,

I have seen this problem only a few times, but always with an aftermarket
programming cable. Some Motorola cables include the busy line as a separate
conductor, while others omit it when not needed. The aftermarket products
may not include all of these nuances, and may simply assume that the extra
wires are not needed. Try using the genuine Motorola cable specified in the
   service manual.

Hi All,

I've managed to reprogram my F20 but unfortunately it does not appear
to receive on 433.200MHz.

Anyone know if I just need to retune the bandpass filter?

Or is it a case of trimming the vco or what?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark and Group.,
I've programmed an IC-1010 for 2 metres but the output is only
around 2.5 watts. It is alright at the PMR frequencies it was
originally used for (taxis) but quickly deteriorates away from these
frequencies.
I'm in the same boat as you Mark and would be grateful if you get
any suggestions I'd much appreciate them myself.I'm a bit loath to
twiddle cores without a 2nd opinion.

Best Regards Michael G3TCA.

Group,

Id like to ask those of you here who have quite a few years of
experience in the programming area and dealing with computer
processor speed issues.

I am looking at purchasing a used laptop (been looking at IBM
Thinkpads) for radio programming with the DOS software and I have
found them anywhere from 25mhz all the way up past 700 mhz. I want to
install DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1 on it but the thing is how
fast can I go before either of these programs will not run on the
machine, and how fast can I go on the processor speed before I am
unable to program radios with it? Can I go up to 500 mhz or higher,
or do I need to stay below 100 mhz? I am looking at programming
Motorola, Kenwood, Vertex, and Bendix King. My question isnt so much
related to DOS 6.22 and Win 3.1 but more the programming software
from each radio manufacturer, what software requires what for a
computer to run it and communicate with the radio.

Also is there a way that I can narrow this down to only one computer?
Someone suggested getting two computers, one slow and one fast, but I
really dont want to have to purchase two seperate computers with
one being on the slow end (25-75mhz) and one at the fast end (newer 2-
3 Ghz) and would like to try and purchase one computer that will
handle most of the older software as I already have a newer laptop
that is Intel duo cord 2.5 Ghz with 4 Gb of ram and plenty of hard
drive space running windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and I beleive I
should be able to run most of the newer windows based software with
this machine, oh how i just love vista

If possible I would like to find that 'happy medium' that one
computer will run "most" of the dos based software out there.

Can anyone give me some advice on these issues and help point me in
the right direction?

Thanks much

Doug

The subject line from the original poster implies that Astro Saber and
HT1550 software is one and the same. They are not the same at all. The
Astro Saber and the XTS3000 portables are programmed with RVN4182 CPS, the
most recent issue of which is RVN4182V in version R05.02.00. The HT1550
portable is programmed with HVN9025 CPS, the most recent issue of which is
HVN9025V in version R06.10.02.

Be aware that once an Astro Saber radio is programmed with the Windows CPS,
the older DOS RSS will no longer work. Some features present in later
versions of CPS for any particular radio will not work if the firmware-
sometimes referred to as "radio software"- is too old. The Astro Saber is a
very complex radio that is highly dependent upon its firmware to manage its
many capabilities.

I think the latest CPS is 5.02. If you mean RSS R05.60 then sure it
will read it. Your radio may need a firmware update if it's that old.

Good luck

Doug;

For reference I use a Panansonic Toughbook CF-73 Centrino
based Pentium M 1.8 ghz for all my field programming needs as well as
my general work laptop. I have a fat32 partition on it, windows XP as
well as a Linux CentOS 5.2 partition. I carry a dos boot cd rom that
I use to boot the machine into DOS as needed as the fat32 DOS
partition was added after everything else .. Win XP first, then
linux, then partitioned a 1 gig fat32 partition where I put all my DOS RSS...

When you boot with the MSDOS CDrom, the only visible partition on the
drive is the fat 32 one, so it mounts as "C". hence all batch files
referencing C work fine.. the actual fat32 partition mounts as F I
think in win xp...This configuration has been my programming config
for this toughbook and the 2 previous ones I owned...

There are a very few early Motorola RSS programs that do not play
nice with this config... HT600 as I recall was one, but most
everything newer than that is fine....Kenwood, Icom, GE and Motorola
in particular....

Speed is not as much of a factory in all these working ( in all but a
few specific cases) as a MSDOS 6.xx boot and a real hardware based
450/550 uart for com port and a real db9/25 com port that is rs232
compliant....multio IO chips for com ports are weak in the voltage
department in many cases as well as less tolerant to IO rate control
changes that many rss do... as well as non standard baud rates (
Motorola in particular ) so some work better than others... I have
had great luck with toughbooks and they hold up well in the field, I
also like touch screens :-) which mine is... it is part of the
executive series so not quite as expensive as the public safety 3k+
versions... I bough it used for about $600.00 as I recall...

I hope this helps!

Looking at the schematic for the F20, it appears that depending on
what band the radio was built for 400/440/490 etc.. then different
value caps are used in the input/output tuning filters and at other
parts throughout the board.

There is a common RX/TX filter which also has selected caps ( values
for each band are shown on the schematic )

Mine is setup for the 440 band, and was used on 446.xxx.

TX is fine for a repeater input at 434.800 with plenty of output.

But RX is almost non existant.

I'm gonna do some calcs and stuff and see what I can do.

   Good luck

Guys I just purchased an IBM Thinkpad 600 with 266 processor, 128 mb of ram and
a 3 GB hard drive on a spur of the moment thing. Paid $50.00 for it. Im hoping
that it will work well with Kenwood, Motorola, and Bendix King software. Those
are what i work with most of the time. Feel free to comment on this if you like,
im all ears.

Thanks

Doug

Doug;

HT600 as I recall was one, but most
everything newer than that is fine....Kenwood, Icom, GE and Motorola
in particular.. ..

Speed is not as much of a factory in all these working ( in all but a
few specific cases) as a MSDOS 6.xx boot and a real hardware based
450/550 uart for com port and a real db9/25 com port that is rs232
compliant... .multio IO chips for com ports are weak in the voltage
department in many cases as well as less tolerant to IO rate control
changes that many rss do... as well as non standard baud rates (
Motorola in particular ) so some work better than others... I have
had great luck with toughbooks and they hold up well in the field, I
also like touch screens :-) which mine is... it is part of the
executive series so not quite as expensive as the public safety 3k+
versions... I bough it used for about $600.00 as I recall...

I hope this helps!
