Hello Pete:

Yes I have seen that part in the schematic about pin 1, 2 and 3 of the
programming jack, and yes

that seems to me like a interface for direct connection to PC serial, what I
would like to know for sure

is what pins in the DB9 and if there is the need of some jumpers; from a
website I can see what the

function of each of this pins, TX data, RX data etc, etc. but that ends my
findings..

Will keep looking, thanks for your help.

Juan, XE2SI

Asunto: Re: [radio-prog@yhgrps] Johnson Viking VX repeater cable

Juan, if you go further in the manual to the schematic section and find the
the schematic of the Processor card, it lists the names of the RS-232
signals for each pin on J01.. It indicates there are 3 signals used plus
ground..
It also looks like it has a built in RS-232 to TTL chip on board, so your
cable is only wires from your RS-232 plug to the RJ-12 or RJ-45.. If
you look at a picture of the physical RJ-45 jack they use, A, 1-6 and B
as the pin locations and it looks like pins A & B are not used, so a RJ-12
should work fine..
I would verify each pin has +- 12v on each pin before I hooked it up to
the computer..

Good Luck, -Pete

It is CE-59, somone else sent this to me, but I am thinking it is the first
version, and that there was a later version, what I got only is titled only
CE-59. But maybe thats all there was.

M/A-Com is on the net.. there is a M/A-Com in Canada as a separate
entity. You may need to go through them, as I do not know if you can
do what you are asking for as a private individual, generally need to
be done through a shop...

That is the only way, yes... You will need to get a new feature
string including the new option add. You will need to give them the
esn and physical sn, and probably the existing feature string. It may
cost more than $200.00 :-)

One size fits all but each option costs :-)

At least you do not have to buy a new radio to get the new options.

I was hoping that someone would have some good pointers on this radio
as all I have been able to find out is that it is a programmable 2
channel radio that is landed in the 156Mhz range.

Once more I would ask if anyone has any information on what it takes
to program this radio up to either HAM or MURS radio frequencies...

Thanks in Advance.

Tim,

The answers to all of your questions can be found in the M1225 Service
Manual 6880904Z96, which costs only $9 from Motorola Parts at 800-422-4210.
That's got to be one of the best deals on a Motorola service manual I ever
seen!

Does anyone have the pinout of the mic connector on a M1225? Also, does
anyone know how to use the external mic connection on the back of the
radio? I am trying to connect a line level audio source to the radio as
part of an alarm system. I have tried the flat audio input pin, but the
audio interferes with the PL code. When I put audio into the external
mic pin, I don't get any transmitted audio. Any ideas or tips?

Joe,

The Professional Series "HT" radios require HVN9025 CPS, currently shipping
in version R06.07.04. The PR860 radio requires a unique CPS, RVN5022,
currently shipping in version R01.02.00. It costs only $99. The same
RIB-less programming cable RKN4075 fits both Professional "HT" and "PR"
radios.

You also need the Prosound (Wide Area Scan) option which allows for
system scan based on site signal strength.. Provoice just gets you
digital voice...

same talkgroup that can use depending the area, I mean for exemple one
