Ok I personally havent heard of anything comm wise
being done until all the water is gone...I'm in
Shreveport La. 300 miles north of New Orleans and the
only ppl rolling down there are Local Hams..

I work for a GE/Kenwood radio shop here in town and I
offered my services and repeaters and some UHF HTs
...For some odd reason they dont like Commercial
radios..but at this point I really do not think it
matters what band or service the equipment works on as
long as it works..
I know how the city of new orleans edacs system works
mainly because my manager put that system in when he
worked for ericcson.

I have portable on site 40 watt 12VDC repeater
consisted out of 2 Maxon SM4450's and a CSI controller
with Patch on 462.625MHz DPL 125. We have coax,
antennas, The HTs are a mix between Kenwoods Maxons
Motorolas.
As far as cellular goes...COWS won't roll until ALL
water is gone.

It's always been my opinion that all radio systems should have a fallback
straight analog simplex and repeater analog system.

Hi Patrick, and thank you for your reply. The software is Windows
based. I have changed the band-split on a TK-349 by using a HEX
editor on the .msg file - but no such file exsits within the windows
based kpg87 software. I'm not sure if it's a case of tricking the
software - the software accepts anything from 440MHz - It's the radio
that's not taking it. Any ideas???

What I have done is a A-B quick call with 1050.0 in both tones. Then
set the un-mute squelch setting to AND so that it takes the tone and a
carrier to open the squelch. Works great for me.

Hello,

Does anyone know how to program the quick alert tones on motorola radio
to decode weather alerts.

On GE type 99 Quick call, you enter 1050.0 in tone B and 0.0 in Tone A.
is this the same on motorola?

Thanks

Bill

Good evening,
I feel for those who are radio heads like many of us that have
sustained a direct hit. As I heard a report tonight, Police, fire,
and most agencies who use PS-SMR's and other types of comm's
are starting to loose those very vitial things they need to survive.
running out of fuel, back-ups failing due to no more fuel on the gen's,
and even the R-T circuits failures...

I could only imagine those of us who are hams and those that are true comm
tech's
how heavy this sits on us that where not hit. My prayers to those who where lost
and or not able to provide for their respective shops in the devistated areas.

Has anyone else out there heard or know of any unit's being mobilized to get
PS-COMMS back up and running for the black out areas??? Of course we (and I)
know that all cellular systems have cows enroute, hopefully that is.....
(hence nextel and it's awlful digital may-ham of a system like it is here in
florida)
at least something will work there.......
But has MA/COM and Motorola dispatch communications vehicles (mobile systems;
800 / 700 Mhz)
sattelite trucks and what not??? Just curious if there is any buzz or sightings
of such
massive amounts of comm gear rolling down that way....

May God bless all that where taken home to heaven.
God's peace to you all who are helping out also!

You have band split 2 which is 450-470. It may be possible to trick the
software, by writing the program from scratch and then loading the radio. It
works with some programs not all.

quoted as '440-480MHz'. The unit just beeps when I try to program
anything <450MHz or >470MHz. Does anyone have any ideas?? I was using
KPG-87 software. I see Ebay sellers selling this radio for PMR446
which is 446MHz so it must be possible.

Here are some details I found on the back of the TK-3207.

'TK-3207-2'
'CHII ID 2004FJ0078'

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Mobiles, but here is where I am! I got a KPT-50 programmer from a
friend and am able to read the radio but can't figure out how to
program them. I did use KPG21D and was able to read and write to them
but now i have 32 channels and only need 8. I can't figure out how to
remove them. Is there a KPG software that is used to program a TK-820

Hi Mark, do you mean the model number etc....well, it says on the
inside 'TK-3207-2' then 'CHII ID2004FJ0078'.

I actually managed to find the software but my unit is not
programming below 450MHz which is a bummer as I need it to work on
449MHz. The other band split options in the software do not work with
this transiever - only the 440-480MHz. Any ideas?

Why buy used, when you can buy new after market for 1/2 that? I've
had good luck with Kendoo.. Here's there page on Motorola Visar:
http://www.kendoo.com/radio.asp?Org_Mfg=Motorola&Application=VISAR

Just an option and good luck.. -Pete

On GE type 99 Quick call, you enter 1050.0 in tone B and 0.0 in Tone A.
is this the same on motorola?
