Yes, there will be an adjustment for deviation, but be very careful that
you have the right pot before you tweak it. Unless you already know
which pot to adjust, refer to the Service Manual for guidance. You
definitely need to perform deviation adjustments with a service
monitor. If you are transmitting CTCSS or CDCSS on any channel, set
that first at about 500-700 Hz deviation. Then adjust the voice
deviation to about 4.3 kHz without CTCSS or CDCSS enabled, so that your
total deviation is under 5.0 kHz. If you are not using tones on any
channel, you can set your voice deviation to about 4.8 or 4.9 kHz.

The error message is " SERIAL BUS FAILURE: BUSY LINE LOCKED"

I am using my 486 that I program other Spectras with. I am using the
Motorola RLN4008B RIB. I tested it n my other spectra, no problem.

Thanks,

Is there an adjustment inside the radio?

Allen,

You have made an important point. However, I respectfully suggest that
transmitting with narrow band modulation will ALWAYS cause low audio
when received on a wide band (normal) receiver, since the deviation on
narrow band is about half of that permitted on wide band channels.

As you correctly noted, the deviation must be set correctly for each
channel, especially when there is a mixture of 16K0F3E/20K0F3E and
11K2F3E channels.

Do you have the unit set for wide or narrow band? Transmitting on narrow
band will sometimes give low audio to a unit that is receiving wide band on
that frequency.

The only number I have is NLN1446A, I believe that may be the part

G2-430

No, that has nothing to do with the error.

Have you used this computer and programming setup successfully on other

Greetings all:
I am attempting to read the code plug from a spectra. The rss gives
me a busy line error. I assume that this is because the BUSY L.E.D. is
lit on the control head. I have grounded the mic, which only mutes the
speaker. I have run the squelch up (by holding down the mon) to 15.
The drawer is a model L44KXM7174AM. I know that this is a consolette
drawer. When I purchased it, it came with an A7 control head, remote
mount. I have looked throught the standard spectra mobile service
manual, but no clues. Is there a jumper somewhere that I am missing? I
also tried my A5 head, with the same results.
Thanks in advance,
Eric
