Subject: Radios suitable as repeaters
jim_981@...
Send Email Send Email

G'day all,
I am after some information on some radios that would be suitable to use as
a repeater. I have heard about radios such as the Philips 800 and 900 series
being able to be used as repeaters, but it is difficult to find information
on them. The repeater would be working on a commercial frequency between
470-500 MHz and possible at a later stage would be used as a UHF CB
repeater. I would like to it as cheap as possible if possible! A 'No Frills'
operation if you know what I mean. Also what else would I need in order of
antennas, diplexers etc? If fact, what is a diplexer??

Many thanks for your help in advance,
Jim

Hi Jim; one of the eaisest ways to make a repeater from two radios on
470-500 mhz would be the comercial phillips fm900 series. these are
programable with a e-prom burner and the program is found eaisly - if you
need it contact me, and there are a number of ways to set up the two. These
radios will put out a max of 25W selectable and they go for no more than 300
each for a remote head version (fm92 100 ch) hope this helped. As for
antennas is it going to be on a tower or just off a metal pole?

G'day David,
Thanks for your reply.
I am planning on using two 92's as the radios, but how can I wire them
together so that the TX is triggered when the other one RX? This is the part
where I am completely stuffed!

I plan on using poles for the antennas...no tower as yet!

Thanks you for your assistance,
Jim

Just the information on the pin connections for the microphone for the Tait 2020 would help me!!
Anyone have that information?  I wish to interface other accessories to the radio, including a high noise headset with nose-cancelling microphone.

Hi all,

I have a Motorola GP300 5 tone hand held that when attached to the rib box for

Does anyone know how to reset this radio so that it can be reprogrammed again
or is it a trip to Motorola?

You might choose a GP-300 from your archives and try cloning this
