Hi!

I developed a program to determine the frequency of non-vowel
usage in Telugu. Taking the telugu messages of February 2004,
the clear winner is na-kAramu (14 %). Tied for the second place is
ma and la (8 % each)sounds. The third place goes to ka at 7.5 %.

These results are just preliminary. I need a bigger data base.
Also, poems of mine and Suprabha's could have skewed the
results. Also there was a huge thread on children's songs
where there was a lot of repetetion.

If somebody has a big file in RTS using SishTha vyAvahArika
bhAsha, the results may be more reassuring.

Some rules followed were:
1) No vowels were considered. I may do that at some future
date.
2) When there is a compund letter, all the sounds in that are
considered., e.g., in trya, t,r,y have equal contributions.
3) Even though the program could count ra and ~ra separately,
the results on ~ra are dubious as none uses ~ra (except perhaps
people like me, taht too sometimes wrongly!)

Suggestions are welcome! - J K Mohana Rao
