R2-Series Astromech Droid

The R2-D2 also known as Artoo. R2, R2D2, is one of the main characters in the Star Wars saga. Over several decades this little droid is activated, serving different masters for several reasons.

He is now the companion of a look alike Cybot Galactica 3PO unit, called C-3PO. Artoo's former owner, Captain Antilles of the Corellian Corvette Tantive IV who died through the hands of Darth Vader, gave the droid the task to follow one passenger's orders.

This passenger, Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan, copied the technical readouts of the Death Star, a secret master battle station of the Imperial Navy, into this astromech unit to carry them away to the hidden Rebel Headquarters. Within the years of civil war against the galactic Empire Artoo served under his new master Luke Skywalker.
