51J, 51J-3, 51J-4/R-388 and R-390 Receivers

A group for users of the 51J series, or Military R-388, or the follow on R-390 and R-390A Shortwave Receivers. The above "Black Gloss CIA version" is my own RX, it has two headset jacks (operator/supervisor), an additional Lamp Black-out position (not marked) on the power switch and Twist-to-dim "on" lamp.

Here you can find information such as a copy of the manual, modifications, tips, photographs, and any other useful information about the "Collins 51J" etc.

To prevent QRM (Spamming), all new members will be switched on in "Warm-up" (Pending Approval) and "on Stand-by" (Moderated for first postings) until I see what they have joined for.

This is not a Sales or Swap-shop - Only Members who have ACTIVELY taken part in discussions and been a member for more than 3 months, can place a "one-off" non-commercial "for sale" ads, (but only for the 51J/R-388 or R-390) or place a "wanted" ads. Also Links to e-bay related "discoveries" will be permitted, but only one per item!
