Qatarbirding is a discussion group related to wild birds in the State of Qatar, their observation, study, and conservation. Qatarbirding is not intended for discussions about captive birds, falconry, or the hunting of birds.

The purposes of Qatarbirding are:
1. to provide a medium for reporting bird sightings from Qatar, and a means of storing these records;
2. to provide information for local and visiting birders as to what birds can be seen in Qatar and where they might be found;
3. to provide Qatari birders with a means for exchanging bird information and discussing questions of interest to Qatari birders;
4. to provide support for the Qatar Bird Club and its various activities; and
5. to provide encouragement and assistance both to new birders in Qatar, and to the development and growth of birding in Qatar.
