Hello all,

I am going to say that I'm new to this list and I'm also going to
ask you if you cabd produce an blast, not powerfull, without using
gun powder or plastic explosives, but using only what chemicals you
have inside the house (and adding some key components from the
market). Where I live (not from USA, and not from Asia as well, a
small country named Romania from Europe - look it over a map if you
don't know where it is) I don't know and I don't think that I can go
to a shop (I don't know if there is one) and just buy camicals and
explosive components without a license. I'm just quessing.

So if you know something about making a small blast without using
very dangerous components please tell me. I DON'T WANT TO KILL
ANYBODY, OR HARM, I JUST WANT TO EXPERIMENT. I TAKE FULL
RESPONSABILITY OF MY ACTIONS.

Or if you know a site where components needed for a blast are
described it will be more helpfull. Because I'm interestid in
components ignited using elctrical current.

Thank you, and I'm looking forward to your answer.

Adrian

you can use a pipe or an elbow using for piping
then full it with gun powder and screw its cap
then make a hole about 4mm and put a fuse in it..it is very dangerous so be very
carefull
use it in a cement block or in a hole on the ground
get away at leat 20m
or you can mix dark aluminum powder 30% and potasium chlorate 70%.
it is flash powder and it is very dangerous.

I'm working on something and the construction says to use a "grade
3" Blasting cap. having no access to such a thing; could anybody
tell me a proper sub for it. Also if anybody knows about what
a "grade" is equal to, I understand that it has to do with the
ammount of energy required/produced to begin a reaction. But beyond
that I am clueless...

"I'm working on something and the construction says to use a 'grade 3'
Blasting cap."

I've never heard of such a thing. I did a Google search on the term,
and got two hits: they were total BS (from people who were probably
so-called "teenie-bombers") containing various errors. Blasting caps
are normally designated by "number." A number 6 cap is the most
common for civilian applications. Military explosives tend to be
harder to detonate, and use higher number caps, like 8. And there are
no standard caps less than a number 6.

Salpeter,, (Potassium Nitrate) is used in the curing of meats.e.g
sausages......
You should check out chemicals for meat preservation ,,on the net.

hey, i was wondering if anyone knows what you can add to a KNO3/sugar
compound to make the resulting smoke heavier so it sits and doesnt
just go up into the air, and at the same time anything that could
speed up the oxidation reaction.

Also, does anyone know where one can get a hold of Silicon
Tetrachloride?

Thanks

4 parts sugar
6 parts potassium nitrate (Salt Peter)

Heat this mixture over a LOW flame until it melts, stirring well.
Pour it into a future container and, before it solidifies, imbed a
few matches into the mixture to use as fuses. One pound of this
stuff will fill up a whole block with thick, white smoke!

On the topic of smoke

I've done the usual sugar, salt peter, and sulpher; and it worked
pretty good! this last weekend a friend and I tried

Lead Peroxide 50 grams
Potassium Dichromate 35 grams
Magnessium 15 grams

all of it x2 in a cardboard tube and got some pretty orange smoke. I
was wondering if anybody knew compostions for any other colors?
Someone told me carbon would make red or something but I was gonna ask
around...

Thanks

ok... Carbon will not make red, think about it, what
color does BP (Black Powder) burn? yellow. But just
because black powder burns yellow doesn't mean the
smoke will be yellow (nor will it be red). You will
need other chemicals, sometimes they get slightly
complicated. Alot of the chems are hard to find. I'll
try and get a list of Compositions to you guys
tomorrow....

Might I remind you that any and all kinds of ground explosives are illegal in
the US, not that I really care if you break the law, just be careful and try not
to get caught. One caught pyro ruins it for the rest of us... Anyway.. there are
several online firework distributors, most require an age limit of 21, but there
are some that will sell to you at 18. I'm not gonna provide with links, go to
google for that. Anyway.. hope that helps.

"Does anyone know where I can get some M80s."

M80s are quite illegal if sold or purchased as fireworks, but there
ARE ways to get them legally. I've heard they can be bought for
rodent control (blowing up prairie dog dens, etc.), but I don't know
the details. They can be purchased as explosives, just as you would
buy dynamite, ANFO, etc. This process is similar to buying a firearm,
except the Feds want to know where the explosives will be used and how
they will be stored; federal & state regulations must be complied
with. Finally, you can get an explosives manufacturing license from
the BATF and make all the M80s you want, legally. It's similar to
getting an FFL, but there are stringent requirements regarding your
storage facilities.

Clyde, I appreciate the reminder. I mean it harmlessly but with all going on in
the world you don't know who means what and wording is the difference between
walking the streets and jail time. I should have known not to say that to begin
with but I obviously wasn't thinking. It's not like government agencies aren't
watching these sites, anyway. So let me rephrase my interest. I am interested in
learning about pyro and fireworks. I want to learn exactly how to make and build
my own beautiful balls of fire.

It appears that conversations in this group has about ceased. I've
created a new group Pyrotechnics World at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PyrotechnicsWorld

I've lost track of the number of links so far in our group. Lots of
links to chemical sources, compound information, books, clubs and
organizations and various information. Much more than any pyro group
on Yahoo by far.

Currently we're at 7 new members this week, 27 new links, and 7 new
messages.

Whether you're a noob like myself or professional this is a great
place to ask questions and share experiences and information.
