PurdueGLBTA provides an avenue for Purdue University's gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender alumni/a to connect with, support and encourage one another.

Here are some of the ways in which this list might help carry out our purpose:

- Professional and social network opportunities (for example, folks in a specific profession or geographic region might use the list to plan topical or local events, or to spin off another online group).

- A forum for discussion and debate on GLBT issues, especially as they relate to Purdue and its alums.

- A platform for GLBT folks to share stories of their experiences at Purdue as a GLBT person.

- A support and planning tool for increasing our own visibility, plus the visibility and support of current GLBT students, faculty, and staff at Purdue.

Membership is open to all GLBT former Purdue students and alumna/i. When you apply to join (either by clicking the "join this group" button or sending us an email at purdueGLBTAmod@yahoo.com), please tell us your major, which years you attended Purdue, and any Purdue degree(s) you received (this info is just for the moderators to validate membership, it will not be posted on the list). It may take 24 hours for your membership to be processed; if you don't hear from us within 72 hours, email the moderator at purdueglbtamod@yahoo.com .

PurdueGLBTA is not directly affiliated with Purdue University or with the Purdue Alumni Association (the PAA); however, the founders of PurdueGLBTA hope that at some point this list will achieve a level of numbers and energy sufficient to set up a GLBT affinity group at the PAA.
