Description
There's YOUR Chance, PUCH-Fans of the WORLD: to Speak-up, and to Question; or if you would rather like, to just BE there -- with us, and listen!
And don't forget to remember, that 'When you raise them right
they can handle anything'!
In 1912 a brilliant young Austrian designer named Ferdinand Porsche joined the team at AUSTRO-DAIMLER as Chief Designer: This was the same engineering genius who later went on to create the Volkswagen Beetle and the Porsche sports car.
Under Porsche's design leadership AUSTRO-DAIMLER grew to international significance as a builder of high performance cars. In 1922 Porsche's AUSTRO-DAIMLER racing car Sascha won a sensational double victory in the grueling seven day Targa Florio.
Hawk's Family and friend Ray Hofer (14), at the left, at "Honda Heaven" track in San Pedro, right after the "Vincent Thomas Bridge", in 1979. Sister-in-Law Claudia and my brother Bert on the green Maxi-MX Moped, with Hawk Jr. (5), standing in front. Ray's father Hermann Hofer was there as well, and also Ray's brother Norbert. What a great day it was, and we can see it in Claudia's smiling face, until Reinhold Grassl and his new wife showed up, strictly by coincidence.
This fantastic Bridge was completed in 1963, just when the Hofers arrived from Gleisdorf; they were "invited to come to L.A." by my Uncle Ernie! And Reinhold was ready for Hermann also, offering him a fine job, at "Ultron Engineering" in Hawthorne. Almost right next door to "Micro Space Products", where I found work, in November of 1962. Claudia is kind of "verschollen", but Ray and Hermann Hofer run the "Milo Machining" Co. in Torrance.
