Those concrete floors do get a tad chilly to stand on after a few

Greetings Publicans,
If you have survived both the Burnley Tunnel ride & the related silly media
hype, come to Goat Night this friday to chill out, drink bier, chat, eat & yap
aimless about bicycles.
Surefoot (hopefully) will be on tap!

even a small directors chair/pew to plonk yer butt on. Those concrete floors do

Sunday, Sunday. The weather didn't throw hailstones or
thunderbolts from the sky. It simply shone brightly
from the sky.
Meanwhile, at the Junction Oval, the combined efforts
over 7000 punters & 300 dawgs helped raise a amazing
$58,050 for the Sacred Heart Mission. The Megahertz
team reigned supreme. And David Bridie should stick to
netball.
Over $1,200 was collected in the blankie alone, with
Fred Negro asking (politely) for assistance from the
punters to carry it around the oval.
The members of Pub Bicycle Users Group should be
highly commmended for their sterling effort to the
days proceeds by assisting in drinking the Goat Beer
Bar dry. Surefoot Stout was voted a raging sucess by
the assembled Publicans. Top effort, well done.
See you tomorrow night for the CM Burnley Tunnel Tour,
Simons got something very *special* planned, and
please feel free to say *hi* to the Big Red Fat Cat.

1).Tomorrow looks ruddy cold.
2). Entry is by Gold Coin Donation.
3). Meeting Arrangements.
i. Meet at Junction Oval, St Kilda, roundabout 1pm-ish, near wherever
the Mountain Goat Beer stand is.
ii. Loiter casually near Mountain Goat Beer Stand,
iii. Retain bike helmet on noggin for easy reference for other
Publicans to spot,
iv. Circulate from near Mountain Goat Beer Stand to Food Stalls & the
occasional errand to the Ladies & Gents Bogs, which will become
increasingly frequent as the afternoon progresses.
4). Getting Home.
i. Straight up (or down) the St Kilda Rd bike lane to your destination
ii. Or wobble off to the nearest train station, which I believe is
Winsor or maybe even Prahran.
5). Simon, please check that url you posted.

4. PubBUG Meetings. Got a email about this. My answer
is: Why? ....
NOTICE OF MOTION: :-)
That the PubBUG investigate the pub crawls listed on the Mlebourne Pub's link of
the Victorian Imbiber's Club website. (url: http://home.vicnet.net.au/~gmshad/)
A mighty resource for the dedicated Melbournian drinker.
Do I have a seconder...
poobumwee, more stuff I forgot to add to previous
email.
Another link for your perusal:
www.beerpig.com.au
rather blokey, but fun.
Trying to find chick/bike/beer orientated websites.
Unfortunately only ones I can find are well, um, to
put politely, are orientated for blokes who like
looking at chicks in great detail, but not for chicks
who like blokes & bikes & drinking beer. I really
don't believe I'm the sole example of this subculture.
Have put the Spot url on our links page, hmm, is it
true that the Worlds are gonna be held at the same
course in Castlemaine in November?
Also, venue for a post Tunnel QLD* next Friday 27/6.
Somewhere in Richmond perhaps? Maybe either The Nash
or the Termimus on Victoria Street? The Vic further
along near North Richmond station?
think I'll go now.

Hiyas Publicans,
apols for the bad pun in the header, just showing my
age a tad.
Next PubBUG happenings, lets be slack and just recycle
the Goat News email:
1.A Big St Kilda Weekend...
This Fri 20 June Goat boys hit the George Public Bar,
St Kilda from 9pm. Get a shot at the Pale, Hightail
PLUS Surefoot Stout on tap by the pint. Come and say
gday. Complimentry snacks with yer goat too.
2. Then Sunday 22 June it's the annual Sacred Heart
Charity Footy Match at St Kilda's Junction Oval. The
local music industry (Rockdogs) team up against the
Megahurtz (Triple R and PBS announcers). Gates open
11am, there'll be live performances from the Spazzys
and the Casanovas, Goatboys will be there pouring the
goods. Gold coin donation for entry, dogs welcome.
3. Have PubBUG leaflets, but too lazy to pass them
thru a PDF writer & upload to our files page. I'll be
at the RRR gig this Sunday, look for small lady with
iridium skater helmet & ask nicely for leaflets.
4. PubBUG Meetings. Got a email about this. My answer
is: Why? Leave the advocacy stuff for the other
Bicycle User Groups around Melbourne. Darebin,
Brunswick(Moreland?) and the new Melbourne BUG can
fill this "void". Lets face it, we're a bike gang for
pissheads in early middle age. But, perhaps if someone
wants to do some advocacy, how 'bout either a map or
do some R&D of all innercity pubs with adequately
secured sheffield loops?
5. CMass next week. Think I can pass this on now, but
looks as if the kiddies are planning to do Burnley
Tunnel. Stacks of fun, I've done both Burnley, Domain
Tunnel and the Bolte at least 5 times on mass.
Burnley, from memory, has a fooking mega freewheel at
the start, be prepared!

Hello fellow buggers:-)
I've been given a great suggestion for a PubBUG event.
6th July 2003
Stout Extravaganza at Bells Hotel Brewery, Moray St South Melbourne.
Categories are Sweet, Dry and Imperial.
Not sure on the full details yet but will keep you posted.
PB
Hi PubBUGers
Last Friday six intrepid (or thirsty) PubBUG members braved the
weather & fronted up at the Mountain Goat Brewery. A good time was
had in a much reduced crowd, the rain keeping a lot of Goat devotees
away. Thanks to those that brought snacks.
Surefoot Stout out soon!
Cheers
Steve

Hello!
Welcome to my collection of bicycle-related beer
labels. The collection consists mainly of Radler Bier
(cyclist beer) labels from Germany & Austria, but it
also includes regular bicycle-related beer labels from
Australia, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, Denmark, Belgium, The
United States, and other places.
The links above lead to pages set up by first
letter(s) of the BRAND (not brewery) name. This is
not 100% consistent, but reasonably close. Each page
consists of a thumbnail image when I actually have a
label. I hope you enjoy browsing through these
labels!
How Cyclists Came to Have a Beer of Their Own:
On a hot summer afternoon in June of 1922, Franz Xaver
Kugler, the owner of a Gasthaus high in the
Deisenhofner Kugler-Alm in Bavaria realized that he
did not have enough beer to accommodate all of his
guests for the day, both bicyclists as well as
mountain hikers. Hence, he decided to offer his
remaining beer, interestingly a dark beer, as a
mixture of beer and lemon-lime soda of which he had an
ample supply, and thus he nick-named his newly-found
drink after the bicyclists,- hence a RADLER!
(the above is courtesy of Pa Rayner (or, more
precisely, it was plagiarized), from his website on
various beer topics)

up to either The Nash, Victoria Street, Abbotsford, or
The Terminus, also in Victoria Street.
Call on 0407 825 467 if you require detailed
instructions (like Street Numbers....).
Today is Neils birthday. If Neil rocks up tomorrow
evening, buy him a beer. Simple really.
Also, wear Thermals. Friday looks cold.

BREWERY OPEN NIGHT...
This fri 6 June from 6pm on the banger. Hightail, Pale Ale and guest microbrew
Holgate Winter Ale on tap by the pint. Unfortunately we now have to start
restricting numbers. It sucks cos we don't like the idea of having a door but
we were starting to take over half the street. So, please come but come early
or late. We're open til about midnight.
SUREFOOT COMING....
Yep, this season's Surefoot Stout is doing its thing in Fermenter 1 right now.
It's big, it's chocolatey and it'll be in stores in about 2 weeks time.
GOAT ME UP...
We'll have a new batch of Goaty Hard Yakka workshirts in the brewery from this
Fri and next week we'll have I drink I goat beanies on the go too.
SORRY if you subscribed but hadn't been getting the goat army news of late. We
had some tech stuff going down which we think might be fixed up now.
That's it

Due to a overwhelming public response, there will be door prizes at the next
PubBug gig in Burnley. Lots of reflective tape. Heaps of the stuff.
If you're lucky, there maybe some floating around pre-Critical Mass this friday
night. Find glamorously attired lady & ask nicely.

Do remember (vaguely) some suggestion of producing PubBUG
leaflets....any ideas or trendy creative visuals to accompany them?
Who and where should we distribute leaflets?
What text should be on them?
Are we either politically correct or boring straight-edge or just a
group of drinking buddies?
hmmmm.....
Hi,
last Saturdays PubBUG outing was a a enjoyable little show & tell
around the offices & studios of Triple RRR. They are in the process
of relocating (somewhere)in the next 18 months. Phil Wales, RRR's IT
wizard, gave us a comprehensive chat about live to air stuff and the
general fobiles of community broadcasting. We later went in search
of provisions, including beer. But one wussed out and had a lemon &
ginger tea instead. Ah, well, there's always Simons Home Coming
Party tomorrow night@The Rose.
Greetings fellow publicans,
here's some up & coming PubBUG events for your calendar:
- Stick Your Head In Your RRR's Open Day@ Triple R, Saturday May 10,
25 Victoria Street, Fitzroy.Turn up approx 3pm, go on guided tour,
then find beer or suitable venue to do so.
- Goat Brewery Open Night, Friday 6th June, 6pm kickoff, Crown
Street, Burnley. Much frosty Goat & hopefully presence of Goat Stout.
- Triple R Community Cup Match, June 22nd, Junction Oval, St Kilda.
Possibiliy of many Goats Of The Mountains. Drink beer & assist those
more unfortunate than us.
- possible "Jesus H Christ On A Bike" Ride (TBA), whereabouts
unknown. Discuss ride & dodgy concept over a few beers.
- Rat Ride (TBA) Route winding thru Northcote, Brunswick, Coburg and
Pascoe Vale. Celebrate the life & funtimes of the amazing, yet scary
Mr Rat. Homebrew avaliable at conclusion of ride.
And then there's this:
After much anticipation it is my great pleasure to announce....
I'm having a gathering to celebrate my return to Melbourne and
completion of the trans-continental oddysey. This little event will
occur at The Rose Hotel 406 Napier St Fitzroy 3065 (03) 9417 3626
(see attached map)on Tuesday 13th May
(A quiet night when we should be able to take over the entire pub)
Festivities commence 6pm
Please RSVP so I can notify the hotel beforehand with some idea of
numbers.
I hope to see you there.

hi folks, thanks for the invite, it's all in a good cause right? the
cause of drinking cloudy beeeeeer ... I ride at critical mass when i'm
not inline-skating it. and stuff. i was a bicycle courier once, ooh,
cred! for cox couriers. *poof* the cred vanishes ...
anyway back to the bike chatter, it looked like it had just been
dumped by someone who had nicked it from someone else, or was just
sick of it ... both wheels were wobbly and my untrained eye diagnosed
worn/loose cones/bearings ... took it down to the brunsbug shed at
CERES where Thorin the Incorrigible passed his learned eye over the
proceedings and took me through the disassemble -> clean -> examine
cones/bearings -> grease -> reassemble procedure.
(walks into loungeroom to get the make/model) okay it's a repco tech
series 700 or something like that. 700x350 written on the tyres.
nice clickety shimano gears, horseshoe brakes, umm, so should i see if
it was stolen or just continue thinking it's mine? answers on the back
of a postcard, or via this list =]
ps thankyou black rose bicycles in pitt street for the loan of a
deadly treadly for the last critical mass. yay
was that a nm as in a gruff naaaaah or a tad more nasal?
PubBUG....because everyone needs a hobby.
Anyone wanna plan some rides? Hopefully with support so we can get home nice and
safe?
