I have not checked the "new files uploaded to prussiangenealogy",
but something tells me that webcams and dating services do not pertain
to genealogy research. Is there no editing of these contributions?
What is the purpose of Yahoo groups passwords and the other security
provisions if not to protect us from nonsense like this?

Hear! Hear! I've gotten garbage like this, usually porn files
uploaded to some of my other groups. What I've read in WIRED
magazine is, the porn bot will switch over to a human to help
complete the application for membership in sites like yahoogroups
(quote "usually hormonal teens" unquote), so it can maaquerade as a
real person.
I don't know why the moderators don't go right after these bots,
unless there are so darn many of them, they can't keep up. It's bad
enough my hotmail inbox is clogged with trash like this!

Hello Everyone,
I am doing this posting on behalf of my G/F who is in Texas USA.

We are researching Valentine Heinemann who was born in Heuthen
Prussia (now Germany) in 1799 and emigrated to the USA from Bremen in
the 1800's. He married a Catharina Brodmann who was born in Heuthen
about 1803 or 1804.
If you have any information please email me at dinglet@...

Does anyone from this list have ancestors hailing from Trakehnen,
East Prussia? My great grandfather August LABOMASCUS (may have been
Americanized from the Lithuanian LABANAUSKUS) emigrated from there in
1871. His father's name was Christian LABOMASCUS/LABANAUSKUS.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I sometimes feel where my g'grandpa came from is responsible for my
love of horses, as Trakehnen was the location of the famous stud of
Trakehner horses! :-)

Hi! I've not had any success in finding out what became of my third
great-grandparents who came from Prussia, Germany in 1840. They
settle somewhere in Canada and then in 1850 their son John Peter
Gillis came to Illinois (Georgetown) and met with his wife Rebecca
Church and they moved to Eugene, Indiana a year after they were
married and spent the rest of their lives there. I do not know if
John Peter's parents came to Illinois with him. Since I do not have
the county, providence of the Canadian territory and/or Prussia,
Germany...I'm at a complete stall. Any suggestions out there? Are
there any Gillises or branches of the Gillis family a member of this
site. I do know that the Gillis name is a common German name and
especially the names of my older ancestors, Mathias, John, Peter,
Anna, Carl, etc. By the way, Rebecca Church's parents came from
Prussia as well as so did my great-grandmother's parents who were
Cliftons.

I am trying to find possible places that my Lyons roots may have
originated. My great-grandfather Max D Lyons was always listed as
being born in Prussia/Poland/Russia in census records. I have yet to
discover his parentage or any family members. He married my
great-grandmother in 1887 in Pulaski County, AR. Census say he
immigrated ca. 1871. I have yet to find him in 1880. He was Jewish
and from what I understand, Orthodox.

Any ideas of what his original name may have been?? Any ideas to
where he may have been born with the surname Lyons? I could use the
help! :)

I am awaiting his death certificate. I am not sure what information
it will contain since he died in 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Any help/ideas will be apprciated.

I thought I had that census, but I apparently do not. So, yes I would
appreciate receiving it. It would have Max, wife Francis (or Fannie),
son Arthur Isaac (Ike), and daughters Lillian, Evelyn, Mae, and
Lucille. Fannie's brother Joseph Kempner could be living with them.
I believe they were all in the mercantile/dry goods business.

Nicole

PS I should have put he is my great-great grandfather. Lillian Lyons
is my great-grandmother. She married a MS boy who may have originally
come to work on the railroad, George K Martin.

Hi:
Wie gehts? My family is from Klein Tromnau, a number of families
went down to the river and then took a boat to the sea where they
used false names to go on board, because of fear of the King, and
then they took the eleven week sailboat ride to North America,
coming to Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and then later to
Williamsford,Sullivan Township, Grey County. This took place I think
in the early 1860s.

I understand there are Mischke and Janke families in the area still.

Hello,
I am very interested in finding any information regarding my GGG
Grandfather "Abraham Schonfeld", he was born in Germany in 1817, he
is shown in in the UK 1851 census living in Derbyshire UK, he was
Married to Mary Schonfeld, also German?
It would be great if I could find out when? and where he entered the
UK ?, on what ship ? also be great if I could find out Marys maiden
name,
is there somewhere on the net I can find any ship lists leaving
Germany for the UK between 1817 - 1851?

Hope someone can help me out a little!

Thanks in advance.

Ray Shinfield.
