The sponsor of a bill to establish a so-called state guard in Arizona says it is a necessary step in controlling out-of-control illegal immigration.
The state legislature will hold a hearing Tuesday on a bill that would earmark $1.9 million to establish the state guard, which would be used in response to natural disasters but also to help choke off the flow of immigrants and drug smugglers from Mexico.
