Description

This is not a Democratic Party email list, nor does the word "liberal" appear as a legitimate search term. This group is intended to provide a DISCUSSION forum for those who consider themselves to be politically progressive. Readers of such publications as: "The Nation", "In These Times", "Mother Jones", "The Progressive", "Z-Magazine", "The Progressive Populist", "Counterpunch" and other periodicals of the political left are encouraged to join, along with all who desire a source for politically progressive information. Additional Keywords (for search purposes): political, politics, left, leftist, socialist, intellectual freedom, anticorporate, anti-corporate, globalization, Green Party, anti-war, alternative media, free speech TV, peace, radio, zines, nader, national security state, military industrial complex, radical, counterculture, analysis, leftwing, radical, antiglobalization, anti-globalization, protestors, demonstrators, activism, responsible journalism, non-corporate, revolutionary, peace, social justice. This is meant to be a DISCUSSION FORUM not a bulletin for cross-postings going out to hundreds of e-mail lists. This group is FULLY MODERATED, meaning that each and every post is reviewed by the moderator prior to being released to the group. In this sense, we are like the editorial page of a newspaper, plus a certain percentage of unique, selective news articles. Because a news article is important doesn't necessarily mean it is appropriate for this group. People belong to numerous e-mail lists anyway, so if an item can be read on 150 other lists doesn't mean it should also be released to this group. That's probably all the more reason for it NOT to be released. If you have unique material and can provide some personal perspective, that's what we are looking for. We're looking to stimulate discussion, so long as it is informed discussion, not intellectually-lazy chit-chat.

Re: My visit to Iran Nov 2009
I read Paulo Freire's work many years ago and was very impressed by it and also impressed by him. I am pretty sure I heard him speak at an event at Wesleyan U.
