Description

Progressive-Libertarians

The purpose of this list is to advance progressive libertarianism throughout society and politics.

While there is no precise definition of a progressive libertarian, they tend to

  • Hold a predominantly libertarian view of individual rights and support the entire Bill of Rights.
  • A responsible and peaceful transition toward liberty: cut welfare starting with cutting corporate welfare rather than first cutting the social safety net.
  • Finding a means of preventing over-concentrated control of resources, while protecting a person's right to own the products of his or her own efforts, and the right of voluntary association and voluntary trade.
  • Believe that individual actions can have broader consequences that are too damaging to deal with only after the fact.  (e.g. pollution)

List Rules

  1. Civil behavior is a must (eg no insults, threats, ad hominems, or obscenity)
  2. Stay on topic.   This list is for progressive libertarians.   Although this is a subjective term, disruptive posts from people who obviously don't fit with the discussion may be asked to leave.
  3. No "flooding" the list with posts.  Everyone has other things to do than wade through excessive posts.
  4. No solicitation.
  5. No excessive cross-posting. One or two additional addresses on occassion is OK, but neither constant cross-posting nor cross-posting to several addresses is allowed.
  6. No Newsletters! If you are certain that your newsletter is of interest to the list, let the list-members know how to subscribe. The list is for promoting dialogues not monologues.
