This group is dedicated to citizens of Columbia, Missouri interested in preserving the community's history and heritage. It is NOT affiliated with any governmental authority or body.
The City of Columbia, Missouri actively encourages historic preservation. Its Historic Preservation Commission, for instance, is a citizen-based board that advises the city council and other local groups on important issues surrounding the preservation of historic structures.
Commission members include Curtis Bourgeois, Joy Piazza, Doug Sebastian, Brent Gardner, Brian Treece, Mike Clark and a city government liaison.
The Commission meets once monthly and holds a yearly reception for owners of "notable" historic properties. Discussion is underway to include a
Most Notable Historic Preservationist.
