Pratham was founded in 1994 as a joint venture with UNICEF. Our ultimate goal is to irradicate illiteracy in India by 2015.

PrathamUSA was founded in 1996 in Houston to help raise money to support Pratham's efforts in India. Now, PrathamUSA has major chapters in LA, NY, and Dallas. In 2002, we raised close to $1 million (US) and this year we hope to do even better!

Pratham Austin is the local chapter of PrathamUSA. We try to increase awareness and promote involvement of both students at the University of Texas at Austin and the community at large through numerous cultural events throughout the year.
