Description
Welcome to the internet discussion group about my currently under construction N scale model railroad: The Prairie State Railroad Company. The PSRC is a local feeder line that serves the local industry of the area it runs through. The modeled portion of the railroad will be the Egyptian District of the Southern Division, which runs from Mount Vernon south toward Cairo (exact route is still being devised at this time).
Power for the PSRC will be steam power: homebuilt 2-6-2s, 2-8-2, 4-6-4s and 4-8-2s and commerical built 2-6-0s, 4-4-0s, 4-6-2s, 2-8-0s, 2-8-2s, 4-8-2s as well as a few Alco RS-3s and GE 44 ton and Alco S-2 switchers tossed in as diesel power tries to take over the handling of trains.
This forum will concentrate mainly on the PSRC and how I do the things I do, but the forum is also open to members and how they do things on their railroad.
There is so much that CAN be DONE in N scale, if you just give it a little thought and get up out of the armchair and sit in front of the workbench. I finally got out the armchair and now I have all sorts of projects in progress. There are almost daily updates as to what I'm doing with the railroad. The operational paperwork that will be used on this railroad is posted in the files section.
The PSRC is a model railroad that will be operated using timetable and train order operation. Trains will be run using EasyDCC and all motive power will be decoder equipped. The entire railroad will utilize Atlas code 55 track products. Pizza cutter flanges are not permitted on this railroad due to not being NMRA compliant with the Atlas code 55 track, which IS NMRA compliant.
This project is moving right along and making some real progress. Even some of the experts are interested in what is going on here.
Feel free to join the group and get in on the discussion.
Always something going on at the workbench.
