Hi Bud,
Yes i agree with your analagy. But from previous conversations on this point Dudek have small weight differencials between their glider sizes. I doubt any glider company would produce fiqures to accertain differing weights from glider to glider to get more performance. Hence the Placard. But its because at some point in the weighting of the Dudek glider, it becomes inhibitive to the performance. What that is i don't know.
Now i would not recommend anyone to fly a Dudek glider in an overweight condition. But if they do then that's there choice...and depending on how much weight is your question..
But you fly a Reflex glider, so you have some experience in this area. But i meet Pilots all the time that don't fly Reflex and think that overloading to gain Speed and stability is the norm... not so with Dudek Reflex. I can only speak for Dudek not other Reflex companies that may have larger weight flexibility.

Subject: [ppgwings] Speed with Dudek Wings
Hi Raymond,
Pilots choose wings because of a combination of features. One of those features is max speed with speed bar, trimmers out along with many other features.
Seems to me that pilots would want to know the 'facts' concerning max speed with speed bar, trimmers out with each Dudek wing. Why not just ask the Dudek folks what the facts are concerning this with each wing. I can't imagine that they don't know whether each wing is faster loaded more than the placard weight or not.

Certainly won't get good economy but i would like to prove overloading Dudek Reflex wings doesn't improve speed... and of course it still maintains it stability flown within the Placard... But one thing is for sure the Plasm 22m will be very very agile.....
