if your idle screw is too far in then you may benefit from doing the butterfly
plate mod notch, but you may want to buy a replacement butterfly before you try
it, they are super cheap.  other than that you can play with jetting on the low
range as well, but you need to have a good understanding of which holes do
what.  check this article i wrote about my wb32 mod that greatly improved the
midrange and low performance on my 100cc.

I have a Flat Top Evo and it runs very smooth from about 3200 up. Did you fit
yours with an idle screw Sonny? As far as I can tell it just has high and low
screws. I can fool with the low end and see if it helps. Mine doesn't run aweful
in the low end just a little rough. I could be a little rich.

Huh?

Bud

It's just we as pilots don't have anything to measure thrust while in the air
and while rpm's aren't linear, it about the only thing we can measure and have
some kind of correlation.

That's not the case, but you should be able to get a close approximation.

I did mean rpm, even though it is more related to thrust. It's just we as
pilots don't have anything to measure thrust while in the air and while rpm's
aren't linear, it about the only thing we can measure and have some kind of
correlation.

Actually, upon close inspection I see that there is an idle adjustment screw -
sort of hidden, but there.

This must be the generic one. Mr. brown should put a little sticker next to it

well, there are a few problems with his design, the short, narrow wheelbase,
and the motor behind the axle which makes the trike prone to turtling. But hey

Hi Beery,

Do you mean a 3.4% reduction in rpm or thrust??

Way way way not fair,
I have a friend Harry Landis who offers the use of a Quicksilver ultralight down
in Poptun Peten Guatemala, Ebay ad# 110465844073, he's one of those nice guys in
the world that gives a damm about people, He was in Sierra Leone not long ago,
putting in water wells for people that had no drinking water.
Someday when I'm able to take the time I would love to go down to Guatemala and
do some flying, sounds like your adventure in Mexico is as nice, simply not fair
it's in the 20s and teens up here.

I struggled with the title of this post, since I did not want to bragg (too
much) about the GREAT weather we had last weekend and that one of our local
pilots, Javier Bautista, took advantage of and went fly to Tecolutla, in the
Veracruz state, "just" 3000 miles South of Houston.

For those of you buried in several inches of snow, here's an homage to you:

PS: did I mention the archeological site he overflew?

   he, he ,he
   (sorry, had to do it)
   :-)

   Enjoy

Sounds like with that bicycle seat, it could lead to erectile dysfunction. The
purchaser of the unit probably needs to call "Paul the Moron" and order some
para-viagra.

PS: did I mention the archeological site he overflew?

he, he ,he
(sorry, had to do it)
:-)

Enjoy

Yeah, that would be riser twist instantly.

I've seen one pilot do a mid-air riser twist just after he launched. It
happened so quick, that unless you could feel the incident about to happen,
there is no time to respond when it goes. If you did have a sense to the
situation, all you could do is back off on power.

I wish I had captured it on video, however nobody had it on video and neither
the pilot nor anyone else I spoke too understood what was the precipitating
event. This pilot had been flying that same equipment for years, as well as
other pilots flying the same equipment in the same weight range without a
problem.

Something was off that day, but nobody knows what.

I did some processing in a spreadsheet using a formula Jeff had on Footflyer.com
to show how weight impacts the speed of a given glider. Below, is the
calculation that is used for what happens if a 200 lb pilot either increases or
decreases their weight.

I will also upload the Excel spreadsheet to the Files section if anyone wants to
plug their specific data into the spreadsheet.

I have also included the factors that is based upon the following formula
(Square root of (New Weight/Old Weight). This same factor can be used against
your sink rate. Thus, if you lose weight, you have less sink rate.

While it's not specifically mentioned, I know the power band curve is different
from engine to engine, as well as from configuration to configuration for the
same engine. I don't know if it is directly coorelated, but the factor would be
a close approximation to engine RPM's if the efficiencies were linear. That's
not the case, but you should be able to get a close approximation.

Thus, if a pilot were to drop from a weight of 200 lbs to 180 lbs, there would
be an approximate 3.4% reduction in necessary RPM's for flying level. If at 200
lbs you required 4500 rpms, at 180 lbs you would require 4347 rpms. It's not
exact, but you can get the picture.

If you lose weight over the holidays while your buddy is stuffing himself with
cookies, turkey, and dressing, your buddy may take a bit longer to get setup and
you launch first, he will catch up and pass you in the air <grin>.

Scott, does your 39 have a idle screw? They do not come from factory with one.

Which simioni do you have? Flat Top> Fly Product> Fresh Breeze>?????

As Gabriel asked where are your settings.

Have you changed you spark plug lately????

Are your gas line hard, even the slightest air leak will cause idle miss or
engine not to run at all.

I switched from 37 to 39 and my Flat Top actually idles/runs smoother.

I had a chance to fly MacPara's new Jet about 6 weeks ago which is the last time
I flew. This was a pre-production demo model. Not sure which size as it has
been 6 weeks.

My initial thoughts were that it kited a bit different than my Eden 3, but I had
no problems reverse kiting and then launching from the 4 to 5 mph winds that
were present that evening.

Once I launched, with trim tabs in, it seemed to behave pretty much like my Eden
3 and had nearly identical climb rates as well.

Comparing to my Eden 3, trim tabs in, it was about a mile or two faster. With
trim tabs out, I got something like a 6 to 7 mph boost in speed while my Eden
gives me 4 to 5 mph boost in speed with trims out.

I didn't have a foot speed bar configuration, but I was able to pull the front
speed system (with my hands using special toggles I own) where I easily kicked
it up another 10 mph and that was without getting all the way on the speed
system. I have these two hand toggles I can attach, unfortunately, I couldn't
hold them for any extended period of time.

The wing had wing tip steering as well as a set of lines for torque adjustment.
The wing tip steering made steering easy with trim tabs, however I was unable to
attempt to steer when the speedbar was employed due to the fact my hands were
being used to use the speedbar system. I really wish the FB Harness I have
would have been easier to put a speed bar system on ..............

Anyways, I was pleased with the wing, however I did not have a lot of time play
with it as it was late in the evening.

Myself, I have two customers giving strong consideration to the wing. Both
customers are on the smaller weight range and will be flying the smallest (22
meter) glider. Presently, they are flying other gliders in the smallest size
offered and they are still very light on the wing resulting in them being slower
than their friends.

The Jet appears that it will give them an extra 10-15 km/hr speed boost over
other wings which will allow them to keep up and perhaps even pass some of their
buddies.

Does anyone have any solutions on how to make a Walbro 39 run smoother on the

Evo motor and was wondering if anyone heard if notching the butterfly valve

New paramotor World Record

FAI just recognized a record, set up during this year's World Championships in
Czech Republic. Tomasz Kudaszewicz on Nucleon 29 and single-seated trike
completed his clover-leaf slalom in 52,23 seconds. Well done, Tomasz!

I assume it's a Simonini?

Check out this link:

It's well worth the read even if heat is not the culprit in your case. It's very
interesting how he discovered the "porous crankcase casting" (what I am
wondering, though, is how/why the nikosil did not seal up the cylinder wall).
Also interesting is his experimentation with timing advance.

Karma to this guy.
