Subject: CW Side Tone Volume ???

Hi all,

I'm enjoying enough with the latest version of the powersdr-iq v1.19.3.15.
All digital mode and CW mode is working except for SSB.

I have a question about the adjustment of CW side tone.
CW side tone is so loud here so I want to decrease its audio level.
But I can not find the adjustment menu in the "setup" menu.

Is there a side tone audio level adjustment procedure?
Any suggestion welcome.

ja9mat Hidehiko.

Hello guys...

am very NEW to SDR... very new!!!

AM looking seriously at Martin's PMSDR as an option... like the flexibility and
fact that I can add it to my existing rig...

to be frank... I dont know if it is any good... would liek to get feedback from
more eperience guys on this approach, I am ICOM based (IC746, ic756ProIII and
IC820), am looking to use the PMSDR at first with IC746Pro and maybe later using
downverter with IC820?

any comments (good or bad) would be appreciated... any OTHER low cost
suggestions would also be appreciated...

Hi Hidehiko,

For the 1.19.x preview and supported audio cards it is in
Setup->Transmit->(Monitor)TX AF

For non-supported audio cards and using VAC you have to wait until a normal
non-preview version comes.

Christos SV1EIA

Richard:
I just looked at the PMSDR. It looks like a very good design(I don't have
one). But if you only plan on adding it to an existing rig, I would get a
Softrock Lite II receiver. It is set for a fixed frequency, which works fine as
an IF monitor for an existing receiver. The cost is less than 1/10th that of
the PMSDR. When the next run comes out, you can buy them at

Hello Richard,

I am using the pmsdr for 4 months now in combination with my ft950/ft897 and it impressed me from the beginning and still does.

I can use it with an if2000 (IF 10.5 mhz) board or stand alone on the antenna and it works great.

Current config.
Hardware
E-MU202 usb sound device (200 khz bandwith / 192khz samplerate)
ELAD switchbox (ptt)
PMSDR
FT950 / if2000

Software.
Winradhd has omnirig support and connects the  ft950 direct with the pmsdr
WRplus is also a good combi, in combination with com0com (virtual comport)
Powersdr-iq powersdr-if is also used very often but its not my favorite.

OK Christos,thanks.

I tried to set as below:

Then I can not control the side tone audio, but the output
power controlled.

I'm using Delta44 and VAC v4.10.
And I'm looking forward the next version.

Hi Hide,

As you are using a Delta 44 sound card, providing you have it selected as a
'supported' card, everything should work fine.

One pair of line inputs and outputs are used for the I/Q processing for RX and
TX. The other two line inputs and outputs are used for driving the speakers and
for a microphone input.

You only need to use VAC v4.10 to pass the digitised audio streams between
programs when selecting DIGU or DIGL modes.

I am happily running PSDR-IQ v1.19.3.14 with a Delta 44 card and can run all
modes correctly.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your useful suggestions and I will check the configuration.
I think my matter is that the TX and RX works well except for CW side
tone audio control. My side tone is very loud. hi...

And then if you could...would you please let me know how to transmit
the AM mode?

My configuration is OK about CW/DIGI/SSB but can not TX the AM.
When transmitting AM the PTT works OK but no carrier arrears.
I think it may be a problem with my setting configuration.

72 and Thanks again,
ja9mat Hidehiko.

Hi,Christos and friends.

Until now I can not get the AM/FM carrier and so
I'm try to experiment the transmitting AM and FM mode.

And today I've found that I can transmit the carrier only when
I select the "Unsupported Card" on the Sound card selection
into the Audio setting.

I use Delta-44 PCI card and normally I select "M-Audio Delta 44 (PCI)"
on the Sound card selection and it works on SSB/CW and DIGI-U mode
very well.

Why do I have to change the "Sound card selection" on AM and FM mode?

Does anyone has succeeded QRV on AM mode?
What is your setting?

I'm enjoying all digital modes especially JT65A and WSPR with
DIGI-U mode and also QPSK-63 and RTTY by using MMVARI(New Version)
with Psdr-iq.CW is using "CWX".SSB sounds good! It works fine!
And I have a plan to QRV AM mode on 6m VHF using transverter
+ Softrock v6.3.Today I have a good modulation by above setting.

Thanks dear Christos and 72 to all,
ja9mat Hidehiko.

Hi Hidehiko,

Be a bit more descriptive.
What exactly do you mean by saying "I can not get the AM/FM carrier" ?

D44 is performing ok in all modes whatsoever when selected as supported.

Have a look at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/powersdr-iq/links
and specifically at M-Audio Delta44 setup link

I also heard that there is an issue with a D44 driver in Vista/W7 so if someone
knows can give you a hint on this, yet since your D44 works as "supported" on at
least one mode it has to work in all modes ok.

Christos

Thanks Christos,

OK all and I will study about Delta44 setting more detail.
I use WinXp-SP3 and I will replace Delta44 driver to the newest one.
I will report on this group when I finished to work.

I am using the PMSDR with Powersdr-IQ (version 1.12.20) and also with other
software (several Winrad versions).
The PMSDR is a great receiver, especially when using an antenna tuner (in my
case a Yaesu FRT-7700).
However, I can only use the Powersdr-IQ software on an old Windows XP system, it
does not run properly on my Windows Vista laptop.
In addition, newer versions of PowerSDR-IQ (above 1.12.20) cannot be used
because of the USBtoI2C interface which is not compatible with the
ExtIO_PMSDR.dll (as I have understood).
I still am waiting for a new version of the dll file... or has anyone found
another solution to run in on a Vista or Windows 7 system??

Hi Doug,

Tx without a frequency agile rig in SDR is not supported in PowerSDR-IQ, as also
in the normal PowerSDR and that is due to specific reasons (FCC) covered in past
posts.

Hallo zusammen.

http://code.google.com/p/powersdr-iq/downloads/detail?name=PowerSDR%201.19.3.15%20Setup.msi

zusätzlich können dann in diesem Forum  noch zusätzlich verschiedene Oberflächen für diese Basissoftware

dazu geladen werden.

Hello Hidehiko and group

The same problem occured as well on my side with WSPR-Signal (no decoding)
I see the signal on display of the programm but no decoding......

The same problem (no decoding) as well occured using the "ROS" frequency hopping-Software.

All other "Digitalmode" were correct.

using the same Software  Psdr-iq v1.19.3.15 as you do.
The Soundcard was the soundblaster live 24 Bit. and SI570 as the oscillator.

Best regard from Germany

Hi Hide, Klaus,

In the links section
-> http://groups.yahoo.com/group/powersdr-iq/links/
you could see how to setup the VAC and various digimodes WSJT/Fldigi/DRM etc.
I hope you could get an idea of what is required for the WSPR specifically.

Quite a few have reported using the PSDR-IQ with D44 and WSPR, I think Bob has a
success story there.

Christos

Hi Doug,

Phil stopped supporting his program, but you can still download it from either
the 'Files' section of the Yahoo 'GenesisRadio' group or from YT1DL's website in
the SDR Utility Setting section.

Glad you are making progress,

Hi Christos,

No problem here at all using either PSDR-IQ v1.12.20 or v1.19.3.15 and WSPR.
Been running WSPR with my SoftRock v6.3 RXTX for the past 9 months.

I cannot really think of any reason why it should not work, no different to any
other digi mode program using VAC to pass the 'audio' streams.

The only real difference running WSPR is the need for frequency accuracy as the
band is only 200Hz wide, stability, i.e not too much drift and keeping the PC
clock accurate to within a second or two.

Hi Klaus.
And thanks Christos,Bob for your suggestion.

I will continue to study and try...
Maybe the frequency offset setting on the WSPR is bad.

Hi Bob,

I'm using VAC 4.1 with free version so sometimes announce "trial".
Is this announcement is bad for decoding?
Are you using VAC with trial or registered?
