Portland Model Engineers (PME) is a community of people in northwestern Oregon and southwestern Washington who enjoy all aspects of metalworking as a recreation. The "Model Engineering" in our name includes small scale internal and external combustion engines, model aircraft, military and maritime models, miniature locomotives (weighing up to hundreds of pounds!) and much more.

In addition to model engineering, our members enjoy clock making, machine tool history, blacksmithing, pattern and foundry work, CAD and CNC experimentation, machine tool construction and rebuilding, automobile restoration and many other fields. In general, if it involves heating, beating, cutting or forming metal, it receives a warm welcome in our group.

Our membership spans all skill levels, from new enthusiasts with neither metalworking skills or facilities to "old hands" who have been professional machinists for 50 years or more and professional machine shop owners who still enjoy making things for themselves. The group is an excellent information and expertise resource for the newcomer and the experienced metalworker alike.

Membership in this group is restricted to paid club members. Non-members will be rejected.
