You can use it. That Jump Start unit is basically a battery, charing unit and maybey power inverter ( on some).
Using this jump start to power your amp is the same thing as using a battery.
That being said...... you could use it but not for very long...the palomar would drain it pretty fast. The higher the power amp....the more current draw...the faster the battery will drain. Even if you kept the jump start plugged in.....it would'nt charge it fast enough if you are using the amp all the time......and you would most likly get some noise on TX..
The output power of your amp would be less than you would see with a 14 volt power supply......the jump start would only be 12 volts....that 2 volt difference will effect the output power of the amp.
So you could use it...but the battery won't last long. The amp will work with it...but not at its maximum output due to the lower voltage. The built in charger will most likly make some noise and will not charge fast.
If you were to use 1 or 2 1000cca batteries and a 4 to 6 amp chager ( or something close)...batteries in paralelle....All you would have to do is set up something to turn off the charger when you key the amp.... and when you unkey, the charger turns back on and the batteries charge up
Its just an idea..
But use what you have, just don't expect too much talk time with the amp
Take care

I have a new portable jump start. 300 amps with 600 amp peak. Could i use this to power my Palomar? Or would it hurt it. I have a home made power supply that is from a computer power supply. I have tried it with the Palomar, and it did not kick the power supply off. Does thin mean it is working right sense it did not kick the power supply off? Or am i getting the full power out of the Palomar with it?

I dont know for sure but I would have to say not to use it as these are designed to deliver a big jolt of power for a brief time. Theres a chance you will fry the boot.
The best thing to do is to pick up a used power supply off eBay. But you could run it on a car battery with out any problems. The best battery to use is a deep cycle. If money is an issue I would check local junkyards you may be able to pick one up for 10 or 15 bucks. Or even freecycles.

I have some very nice Johnson radios for sale. Model SDL-6065. 8 channels with speakers all hardware for them. The radios look almost like new. 35 watts. Freq. is in the 400-512 range. Will also do trading. I also have some nice Motorola HT-90 portable 5 watts radios for sale or trade, freq. is also in the 400-512.

I have no idea how many people in the groups that is a member of CB Radio Tricks. But some people is asking about CB shops. I live in Indiana and the CB shop i am talking about is over 200 miles from me in Michigan. Some may already know about him and maybe has used his shop. But stop and think, how many times have you called a CB shop to ask them something that is wrong with your radio. What do they say? Bring it in and we will bench test it. So you take it in and they look at it and say will its going to cost this to fix it. And if you say no i can not afford it at this time, than most likely they will say that it will be any were from 10-30 dollars just to bench test it. And they have you because if you don't pay for it they will keep your radio. They know what they are doing. I have not had Wildcat CB Shop do any work for me as of yet,
because he has helped me over the computer on some stuff. He could easily say ship it to me and let me bench test it and see what is wrong with it and than charge you for the bench test and shipping to get your radio back. But he does not do that, he will try to help you over the phone or the computer, and not charge you one penny. You have to know he cares about people and radios to do something like this. So if you have a problem with your radio, Please send him a email at wildcat2488@.... I know if it comes down to it and i need my radio worked on, he would be the person i would send it to.

I have a very nice Palomar Elite 250HD that i would like to trade for a good Dosy meter or i am looking for a radio with extra channels. Were i live all of the people here is below or above. There is no one to talk to on the regular 40 channels. Now as the Palomar goes i bought this brand new and i hardly ever use it. No one has ever been in it. I take care of my CB items. This Palomar looks as new as the day i got it. And i also have a President Zachary T that looks good and works perfect. I can email you pictures if you like. Please email me at bigal46563@.... Thank You

The pics posted made it way easier then someone trying to explain it. Thanks
for that! I took my President Dwight D. into my local radio shop for some
service. I had a meter replaced and the contacts cleaned, and I was going to
have him put in variable power on the delta tune knob. I don't know why, but my
tech says he can't do it. He said he couldn't find his photofacts on this
particular radio. I tried looking up some things on cbtricks.com and a few
other sites, and I can't find anything on it either. I'm thinking I don't
enough yet to know where exactly to go to find this stuff. Anyone out there
know if it's possible to put variable on a President Dwight D.? If so where
could I find this information on how to do so? Thanks guys! You guys have been
very helpful in my quest to talk again! 73's from Michigan...327 in the Great
Lake State 60 miles North NorthEast of the Motor City!
Forgot to mention, put the tip under the key bar and when mashed the pin pops loose and vibrates making the sound the mic element picks up. Has to be reset after each use.

Recently some locals on my local stand by have started to use a ting when keying up. They mentioned something about a paper clip or a coat hanger. I'm wondering if anyone on here knows how to do this or could let me in the right direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
