Description

This group has been set up mainly to help people in their campaigns for their local swimming pools. Seven years ago I started campaigning for our local lido, Broomhill Pool in Ipswich. As the fight to save it became better known I realized that other people were also fighting pool closures and it therefore made sense to try and "pool resources".

This site will include information on pool closures (temporary or permanent), parliamentary debates or "questions" on public swimming, individual or group efforts to save pools, press coverage and details of successful outcomes too. The need for such a forum was identified at both national conferences in 2006: Reviving Lidos (March 2006) and Making a Splash (June 2006. Grateful thanks to Oliver Merrington, Janet Smith, Jackie Spreckley, Simon Inglis,Jo Edwards, Ann Morgan,Liz Hughes and many others for the encouragement to make a start on a national campaign forum.
