Joy-I called my friend and left a message. I'll follow up with you when she gets back to me. My other thought is to talk to your local representative; the congress person who represents your area in Harrisburg. Sometimes they have someone in their office who can help when it comes to state paperwork.Have a great weekend,Judi----- Original Message -----From: Joy WitmerSent: Friday, May 08, 2009 2:57 PMSubject: RE: [pomomc] 2010 Convention Question
Judi,
We are a 501© through the National club. I was told that the number we have from National is just for Federal Tax and it doesn’t count for PA exemption. We also have a Charitable status that I just found the certificates for. This is what I know this far. I hope it helps.
Thanks
Joy

Joy-
Is your club set up as a 501(c)3 corporation? This affords Federal tax exemption. From there, state tax exemption is easier to come by. Let me know more info. I have a friend who worked as a finance director for a 501(c)3 non-profit and is very knowledgeable. I might be able to ask her.

Subject: [pomomc] 2010 Convention Question
Hello Everyone,
I am looking for some help. I am the treasurer for 2010 Lancaster Convention. I would like to get the PA Tax Exempt ASAP. I tried several years ago when I was treasurer of our club and we were denied. I have the current treasurer looking for my records to see why exactly that was. My question is are there any "tricks" I need to know to get this form approved quickly? If you have any suggestions please let me know.
Thank You,
Joy Witmer
