Same here. I'm wondering if the storm last night affected it (we lost
power for several hours, and falling tree branches knocked down our
mailbox). Even if not, the server should be responding a lot quicker
than it has the past week or two.

I'll talk to Paul tonight.

The war IS the economy, stupid!

Take the pledge:
"I
will vote on the basis of results and results only. Not party loyalty,
not perceived "electability", not lesser-of-two-evils, not charisma or
anything else. Just results. Come 2008, if American troops are still in

Senator Helms was elected to the Senate in 1972 but his term commenced on
January 3, 1973 as per Article of Amendment XX to the United States
Constitution. Mr. Helms was subsequently re-elected in 1978, 1984, 1990 and
1996. His final term expired on January 3, 2003 and as a result, his tenure
of service concluded.

Hope this helps! :)

Green Berkeley City Councilwoman Dona Spring dies

Outspoken Berkeley City Councilwoman Dona Spring dies

Carolyn Jones | San Francisco Chronicle | 07.14.2008

Berkeley City Councilwoman Dona Spring, a nationally
recognized champion of disability rights and one of the city's most
outspoken and left-leaning politicians, died on Sunday. She was 55.

Spring had suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for 36 years, an
autoimmune disorder that causes chronic joint inflammation and pain.
Spring, who used a wheelchair, in recent years had participated in
council meetings from home via teleconference.

Last month, she went to the Memorial Stadium grove to support
tree-sitters protesting the UC's plans to build an athletic training
facility.

"With her passing, we lose a true public servant devoted to her
district and to Berkeley," said City Manager Phil Kamlarz. "She was a
passionate advocate on behalf of her constituents, her city and people
of all walks of life."

Spring, a longtime advocate for the elderly, at-risk youth, animals,
the poor and disabled, was among the most popular members of the
council. She was elected to her fifth term in 2006 with 72 percent of
the vote.

She graduated from UC Berkeley with honors, earning a bachelor's degree
in anthropology and psychology. She worked for many years at
non-profits devoted to disability rights, seniors, the environment and
animals.

Spring was elected to the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee
in 1986 and to the county's Green Party Council in 1990. From 1997 to
2001, she was on the county's Recycling Board, serving as president in
2001.

Hi!
It is sad to report the death of Eileen
Gillespie Slocum until last month the Republican
National Committeewoman for Rhode Island. Eileen
traveled in Newport "High Society" but I never
found her to be a "snob". She was a very kind
person and a great loyal Republican.
Eileen resigned her National Committee seat
early until State Rep. Carol Mumford was selected
last month. Carol will be a great National
Committee member but there was other great
candidates in the race. While some fuss has been
raised about the election, I assume her election
will up stand any challenges.
I have known Eileen for years. I remember a talk
I had about Sunny VonBulow with her. I also
remember eating oatmeal with her in New Orleans
when we were there for the 1988 GOP National
Convention. A true RI GOP treasure she will be
genuinely missed. Her son John J. "Jerry"Slocum,
Jr., was a Rhode Island GOP First District U.S.
House candidate in the past.
  Check out The Providence Journal

her obituary? Probably other sources. Her death
occurred yesterday so it may not be in all

John Seiberling, former OH U.S. congressman (1971-1986), died August 2, 2008 at
his home in Copley Township (OH) of respiratory failure. He was born in 1918 in
Akron to Franklin Augustus and Gertrude Penfield Seiberling. His father
was co-founder of Goodyear Tire. After leaving Congress seiberling taught at the
University of Akron and directed the university's Center for Peace Studies.
(I've been unable to discover where he was buried but the Seiberling family has
a large plot in Glendale Cemetery, Akron.)

If I go to either convention (and I might do so) I will be there will
fellow Greens protesting the old grey parties refusal to end the war
and require clean energy.

Got bail?

Can you find out where the "free speech pen" is located?

The major parties are so worse than useless.

What happened to "let Democrats control the House and they'll end the
war" ?

How come only Republicans use the filibuster?

Color me Green...

Hi!
I myself are related remotely to a number of
presidents distantly. Both Adams Presidents and
myself are John Alden descendants. I am a member
of the Alden Kindred of America
http://www.alden.org ,. This relationship with
President John Adams and myself is Third Cousin
Seven Times removed and his son John Quincy Adams
would be my Fourth Cousin six times removed.
Like Hillary Clinton I have remote ties to
Camilla Parker Bowles. I also have distant ties
to Princess Diana. I am related to over fifteen
U.S. Presidents some with same multiple ancestors
and families since the 1500's/1600's. Many people
well into the hundreds of thousands if not well
over a million or more millions share ancestors!
  Check out
http://www.newenglandancestors.org/about/5331.asp
you may find it of interest. It appears I have
remote genealogical ties with John Sidney McCain
IV ,.
Regards,
Scott
