ALBRIGHT WARNS RUSSIANS AGAINST MILITARY AID TO SYRIA

United States Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, in Moscow on Wednesday,
warned that the U.S. might impose sanctions on Russia if it sells special
anti-tank systems to Syria, HA’ARETZ reported. According to American
officials, the U.S. would consider a deduction of $50 million from the $300
million that the U.S. currently provides in aid to Russia for disarmament
and economic reform. Syria recently dispatched a delegation to Moscow in
order to purchase millions of dollars in high-tech military equipment.
Albright said recently that American law prohibits aid to governments that
supply military equipment to countries that, like Syria, support terrorism.

A multi-national force has been called in to establish peace. That's the made up scenario for a massive military training exercise now taking place over a 200 mile radius of Fort Polk, Louisiana. It will conclude Feb. 17, according to a public affairs spokesman. Over 5,000 strong, forces from the Army, Navy, Marines, and foreign military united to take part in the training exercise which began on Feb. 6. The peace enforcement training is being conducted by the Joint Readiness Training Center. The scenario involves troops acting as hostile forces who will not give up the fight that has been waged in the fictitious nation. The troops will be involved in separating the remaining factions, ending the fighting, and creating a "zone of separation" between the warring parties. They will also be involved in negotiations with non-governmental and international organizations to bring peace to the region. Challenges will be thrown at the trainees by hundreds of role players who will depict refugees, prisoners of war, local citizens, and a variety of civilians who need to be handled properly. The role players include actual representatives from many international and non-governmental organizations who will participate. Participants in the exercise will be located at various positions within a 200-mile radius of Fort Polk, according to an official release. Warnings to hunters in the area have been issued, and a special complaint phone line has been set up to deal with civilian concerns. The "warring factions" will be made up of the 1st Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, opposing troops from the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment. The primary forces being trained come from the 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division from Hawaii. They will receive support from Company C, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry from Ft. Carson, Colorado; 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Ft. Lewis, Washington; the 159th Corps Support Group, a reserve unit from Helena, Montana; along with Air Force units from North Carolina, Texas, Washington, Massachusetts, and California. The exercises are said to be a general purpose training exercise with no particular purpose or future mission in mind. Much of Fort Polk has been closed to the public during the exercise, primarily for safety concerns because live ammunition will be in use. The Joint Readiness Training Center has not conducted an exercise of this scale since August 1994, when a similar peace training exercise was held. Military spokesmen claim this exercise is not connected to the Operation Last Dance exercise currently taking place in parts of nearby Texas. "I live about 15 miles away from Fort Polk," Cynthia Lyles told WorldNetDaily. "This sounds like martial law training to me, in the name of peace, involving reserve units and special forces." When Operation "Last Dance" began in Kingsville, Texas, soldiers arrived in unmarked helicopters. Explosions were set off. A gunbattle ensued. One building burned and another was badly damaged.

It was all part of a secret training exercise that took place Monday night in a town of 25,000 not far from Corpus Christi. The local police were involved, as was the mayor, but almost no one will talk about it.

The Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, has confirmed the event was the kick off of a series of similar training operations going on in Kingsville, Corpus Christi, and Fort Sam Houston. Additional training events will take place each day until Feb. 20.

Little warning was given to civilians prior to the event that startled many. The police first fibbed to local businesses early in the day, telling them that a police exercise would take place that night. One hour before the helicopters arrived they decided to go back to the businesses and tell them a military exercise would take place and not to be concerned.

A warning would have helped the many residents avoid panic, but they were not told in advance. The sound of the eight or more helicopters, explosions, and rapid gun fire caused hundreds of calls to the 911 dispatch center. Additional people were placed on duty to take the many anticipated calls.

City officials claim they were not permitted to warn residents. The Army wanted the exercise to be conducted in a realistic environment.

"The training has an emphasis on urban environment training and land navigation. Before we even rolled into Texas we did a thorough risk assessment and a safety study to ensure risks to the local population is minimized, as well as any risk to our soldiers," explained Carol Darby, a civilian public affairs officer for the Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg.

An unidentified soldier involved in the exercise came from Kingsville and recommended the location. Planning began many months in advance, but the actual plans for the event by the soldiers involved began only hours before they carried out the mock mission.

The scenario was staged as a real event would be, with soldiers having to deal with a situation quickly and without preparation.

"The benefit that this kind of training has is having something that is done in a realistic time frame. A lot of times it's a very, very short notice (to the soldiers involved)," Darby told WorldNetDaily.

"We do this type of training in urban areas because of the increased urbanization of the world. Urban environments is one of the environments that we have to train in because of our deploy ability requirements to be able to conduct operations world wide.

"We look at different areas because of the characteristics in those areas and the challenges that those characteristics present to our training."

She said soldiers cannot always train just at the Fort Bragg facility. Soldiers need a real environment to train in, rather than the fake city used at Fort Bragg known as "Military Operations in Urbanized Terrain." The Marines have a similar training facility at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

She said there will be a different scenario for each part of the exercise with many soldiers participating. The number involved, and their nationality was not disclosed.

One witness to the exercise told WorldNetDaily that the soldiers appeared to be multi-national, but this could not be confirmed.

This exercise was not the first, nor will it be the last. Similar events are planned form many locations all over the United States, and a "peace training" exercise is taking place in Louisiana at the same time as Operation Last Dance.

"We look at different sizes of urban areas from a smaller area to a larger area because of those challenges that it presents, because we don't know where the next hot spots in the world will be," Darby explained.

Although the training takes place in many U.S. cities and towns, the troops involved could be called to respond to problems anywhere in the world.

WorldNetDaily requested permission to observe a future exercise. The request was turned down.

"The press cannot observe because of some of the tactics that we use. We do try to protect those. Another reason is safety," said Darby.

She was not aware of any coordination with other branches of the military, and she did not know if this had anything to do with President Clinton's recent proposal for a Homelands Defense Command.

The purpose of the training exercise also was not disclosed. She would not say if it dealt with terrorists, hostages, domestic, or foreign scenarios.

Witnesses described the exercise as extremely frightening.

The estimated eight helicopters landed one after another with soldiers jumping out quickly. The helicopters left as quickly as they arrived.

Explosions came from within a two-story former Exxon building, then rapid gunfire was exchanged between two warring factions. Extensive damage to the building was caused by grenades used in the explosions.

A vacant police station was used by the forces as well. They were using a welding torch for some undisclosed reason and accidentally set off a fire that gutted the inside of the building. The fire department, which was notified to be on standby, was able to extinguish the blaze before damage to other buildings took place.

The city has been promised it will be compensated for the damage to the old police station, which is considered to be destroyed. The Exxon building also suffered extensive damage.

When asked about the damage, Esquivel first denied that it even happened, then he explained that he had not yet received a report of damages but confessed he knew of the damage.

No one was injured, according to Police Chief Felipe Garza, who would not discuss the exercise. He and Mayor Phil Esquivel refused to give much information. They claimed they had been sworn to total secrecy.

Residents who spoke to WorldNetDaily complained, expressed fear, and did not want such an exercise in their town again. Several spoke harshly against their elected leaders for permitting the exercise.

At a growing number of hearings, the CIA and a gaggle of skittish senators are refusing to discuss details until everyone else leaves the room. When one senator at a June 24, 1998 hearing asked if nuclear weapons were at risk, CIA Director George Tenet demurred. "We can talk about that in a classified session," he replied. The same thing happened last Tuesday. Tenet was launching into a windy explanation: "With regard to the Y2K problem, Mr. Chairman, I think a few words are in order. In our judgment foreign countries trail..." Sen. John Warner interrupted, mid-exposition. "Particularly on the ability of nations now to technologically intercept our systems, whether it's a local bank or indeed the Department of Defense," the Virginia Republican interjected. "It's a serious issue, Mr. Chairman -- we should talk about in closed session more than in open session," Tenet replied. Before shutting up, though, he did predict "a potential for civil unrest in some countries." Shortly thereafter, the Senate Armed Services committee formally entered closed session. When a hearing is closed because of "national security" concerns, legislators remain but the public gets the boot. The hearing usually adjourns for about 10 minutes then resumes after the Capitol police have cleared the room. Committee staffers with approved top-secret code-word security clearances may stay. This isn't the only time the Defense Department has avoided the Y2K limelight. At a June 4, 1998 hearing of the Senate Armed Services committee (yep, the same one), a top Pentagon official declined to go into detail about Y2K and "cyber-attacks." "Let me very briefly speak to the issue of cyber- defense, and then I'd like to turn to General Minihan to have him amplify on this. And may I also say I think we are going to be somewhat limited into what we can say in an open session. We would welcome a chance to either come back another time or maybe later this morning in a closed session to talk in greater detail about this," said John Hamre, deputy secretary of defense. Sitting next to him at the witness table was Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minihan, the head of the National Security Agency. It was Minihan's agency that last May classified a Defense Department Y2K database as "highly sensitive," prompting the military to yank it from the Internet. Even though John Koskinen, assistant to the president, said as recently as last month that "our strategy is based on the premise that the public has great common sense and will respond appropriately when they have the necessary information," the Clinton administration and Congress have taken steps in the opposite direction. A bill that Clinton signed last fall was widely touted by the White House and a bipartisan group of legislators as a way to limit inappropriate Y2K liability. But a key provision bars the public from attending meetings of the Y2K council and its subcommittees. The Year 2000 Information and Readiness Disclosure Act says the federal open-meeting act "shall not apply to the working groups established under this section." A grand conspiracy? Nah. Part of the allure of secret briefings is simply that they make the recipients feel important. A number of people who have participated in classified hearings on non-Y2K topics tell us the information is similar to what's discussed in public, just more detailed. Still, we can't help but wonder...

Russia's Missile Defenses Eroding
Gaps in Early-Warning Satellite Coverage Raise Risk of Launch Error

MOSCOW—Russia's early-warning defense against missile attack, a key aspect of the hair-trigger doctrine of nuclear deterrence, is deteriorating because Moscow cannot replenish the array of satellites it needs to monitor U.S. missile silos and submarines, according to Russian and Western security analysts.

For several hours each day, Russian military commanders cannot see any of the U.S. missile fields, nor can they monitor the most dangerous threat to their own forces -- U.S. Trident submarines submerged in the world's oceans, these specialists said.

Russia has not launched an early-warning satellite in nearly a year, they added, and U.S.-Russian plans for sharing early-warning data, announced last September by Presidents Clinton and Boris Yeltsin, have not been implemented. Such cooperation involves highly sophisticated equipment and the transfer of ultrasensitive defense information, analysts say, and a legacy of distrust persists on both sides.

Although the Cold War has ended, (AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THAT RIGHT?) Russia and the United States remain on constant nuclear alert. Both sides say that if attacked they will unleash massive retaliation, even before enemy warheads arrive; the strategy is that such a stance will discourage any first strike.

But the threat of retaliation requires accurate early warning, and without it, Russian decision-makers are blindfolded. Some Western specialists say the growing gaps in the area covered by Russia's early-warning satellites have increased the risks of a serious miscalculation, because Russian commanders will have less time to decide if a launch report is real.

There have been several close calls. In September 1983, the Soviet early-warning system sent a false signal to ground stations that a U.S. missile attack was underway. After a few anxious minutes deep in a Soviet defense bunker, the mistake was recognized by an officer on duty. In another case that highlights the early-warning risks, the launch of a Norwegian scientific rocket in 1995 triggered a false alarm that was reported all the way to Yeltsin.

At the time of the 1983 alarm, the Soviet satellites positioned to detect U.S. ballistic missile launches had been on station for only about a year. Launched into a high elliptical orbit, the satellites did not look directly down at Earth; rather, they peered at an angle, depending on infrared waves to identify the hot exhaust of a rocket against the black background of space.

To keep tabs on U.S. missile fields, an array of satellites was needed. Their space tracks followed one after another, sweeping over the known missile locations in the United States; but they were prone to drift from their orbits and had to be replaced often.

The full early-warning system of that era had nine satellites. On the day of the false alarm, there were seven in orbit, according to Paul Podvig, a research associate at the Center for Arms Control, Energy and Environmental Studies here. Podvig said the seven satellites were sufficient to cover all the U.S. missile fields because the full overlay of nine was designed with some overlap.

That same system is still in use, but because of its crippling financial problems, Russia has not put a single early-warning satellite into orbit since last April. Some existing satellites ceased working as recently as last year, and, according to Podvig, the system now has only three active satellites -- less than half the number at the time of the 1983 alarm and just a third of the full constellation.

The Soviets created a second satellite system in the late 1980s -- this one in geostationary orbit, meaning that each of these satellites remains above one place on the Earth's surface. Two of these are still functioning, Podvig said, with one sited to cover some of the gaps in the original array of satellite.

But gaps remain, however. Every 24 hours, the high elliptical satellite system is blind during two periods; one is nearly six hours long, the other about an hour long, Podvig said. Even with the help of the geostationary satellites, there is a daily gap of about three hours, he said.

"Over the last five or six years, Russia kept the configuration working all the time," Podvig said. "But it started disintegrating at the beginning of 1998. The situation in the last six years wasn't good, but they had reserves. They kept it working. Now, they have used up those reserves. The problem is serious."

There is some uncertainty among Western and Russian experts about the capabilities of the satellites in geostationary orbit. At issue is whether one of these satellites, Cosmos-2224, is capable of looking directly down at the world's oceans, where the Trident submarines patrol.

Podvig said he believes it can look down at the North Atlantic -- Tridents also patrol the Pacific -- while Theodore A. Postol, a professor at MIT, has questioned whether it has look-down capability at any ocean. Without this capacity, Postol said, Russia would be blind to sea-launched missiles. "Russia has no space-based early warning against the most potent threat its land-based forces face, the U.S. Trident submarine-launched ballistic missiles," he said.

Postol noted that Russia's system of ground-based early-warning radar has also been degraded because many installations were built on the Soviet periphery -- outside Russia -- and are now in independent states. An important radar station in Latvia was closed last August and has not been replaced, and there are other gaps, as well. Postol has mapped "corridors" in which missiles could be launched at Russia that would not even show up on the existing radar screens. One such avenue runs from the Pacific, where most Tridents are based, into the heart of Russia from the Far East.

"There are large parts of the Russian forces that could be attacked from the Gulf of Alaska and would be destroyed without Russia even knowing an attack was underway," Postol said in an interview. "Moscow could be destroyed within four to five minutes of the radars seeing the incoming warheads."

The situation is risky, Postol said, because it could drive Russia more and more toward making a quick decision to retaliate -- one that would be based on less reliable information.

But Podvig said he is not as worried as Postol about Russia's early-warning problems. "If you consider Cold War scenarios, a lack of early warning is a really bad thing. You can come up with all kinds of first-strike scenarios. But I'm not that pessimistic. My view is that, even if Russia has no early-warning capability, no radars, no satellites, and still relies on intercontinental ballistic missiles and launch-on-warning, in any crisis, Russia will still have to be taken seriously," he said.

So far, little has been done to reduce the threat of nuclear miscalculation. Russia and the United States have pledged to re-target missiles away from each other, but that could be reversed quickly in a crisis. Bruce Blair, a security analyst at the Brookings Institution in Washington, has argued for "de-alerting" Russian and U.S. nuclear forces, effectively taking them off hair-trigger status, but the idea has yet to win official favor.

With reduced early-warning capability, Blair said, Russia "is losing its ability to distinguish between real and imaginary nuclear threats. The United States could be the big loser in this situation."

At a Moscow summit last September, Clinton and Yeltsin announced plans to share early-warning missile launch information. "It was a good first step," said Postol, "but the administration hasn't done anything to implement it, and they have no vision of follow-on steps."  (So we help them spy on us right? )

U.S. Worried About Russian Early-Warning System

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States said Wednesday it was worried Russia's systems for early warning of a nuclear attack might be deteriorating and it wanted a quick response to a proposal for cooperation on the issue.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Russia had only three active early-warning satellites, four fewer than needed to provide full coverage.

For about three hours out of 24, the system could not detect a U.S. missile launch, adding to the risk that Russian missile commanders would not wait to decide if a missile warning was real or just a false signal, it said.

State Department spokesman James Rubin said: ``It's fair to say that we are concerned about the potential deterioration of Russia's ballistic missile attack warning capabilities.'' He declined to discuss technicalities of the systems.

But he said the risk of a miscalculation was lower than during the Cold War because Russia and the United States were no longer on such a high state of alert.

``The general posture of the United States and Russia has been drastically reduced as a result of the end of the Cold War and the onset of deep strategic arms cuts,'' Rubin said.

``The Russians themselves have said that they believe there is a greatly reduced likelihood of a nuclear or large-scale conventional war,'' he added.

``Americans should sleep a lot more soundly today than they did at the height of the Cold War when both sides were on a hair-trigger posture,'' he said.

President Clinton and Russian President Boris Yeltsin agreed last September to begin discussions on the exchange of information on missile launches and earning warning but so far little has happened.

``We have pushed aggressively to follow up on this agreement with detailed negotiating sessions occurring in Moscow at the senior levels, and we have presented the Russian side and their experts with a clear and far-reaching vision of where this initiative might lead,'' Rubin said.

``We need to have more discussion and response from the Russians in order to be able to move this forward,'' he added.

The Washington Post said the Soviet Union almost made a disastrous miscalculation in September 1983, when an early-warning satellite mistook the sun's reflection off clouds for the surprise launch of five U.S. missiles.

Stanislav Petrov, the commander of an early-warning installation, decided it could not be an attack because the number of missiles was too few for a surprise attack.

Russia cannot afford to replace the satellites as they go out of service and has not launched one since last April, the newspaper reported.

U.N. Wants Geneva Convention Enforced On Israel

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The U.N. General Assembly called Tuesday for a conference to be held on July 15 to ensure that the Fourth Geneva Convention on protecting civilians is respected in the Israeli-occupied territories, particularly the convention's ban on settlements.

With only the United States and Israel opposed, the Assembly adopted a resolution by 115 votes to two, with five abstentions, recommending that the 188 signatories of the convention attend such a conference at the U.N. office in Geneva.

Abstentions were cast by Australia, Bahamas, Cameroon, Romania and Swaziland.

Switzerland, as the depository of the 1949 convention, which deals with the protection of civilians in time of war, was asked to make preparations for the conference.

But its U.N. observer said that given the absence of provisions in the convention for convening such a meeting -- never previously held -- there were a number of questions which only the parties to the convention could settle, not Switzerland as the depository power.

The Assembly acted at an emergency special session first summoned in April 1997 and reconvened four times since. The latest session, which began last Friday, was requested by the 22-member Arab group, supported by the 114-member nonaligned movement.

The resolution reiterated those adopted by overwhelming majorities at previous sessions condemning Israel's failure to halt settlement activity. They refer particularly to a housing project at a site south of Jerusalem, called Har Homa in Hebrew and Jabal Abu Ghneim in Arabic, that Israel captured in the 1967 Middle East war.

Past Assembly sessions also asked Switzerland to convene a conference of the Fourth Geneva Convention's signatories. It organized a meeting last October attended by experts from most of the signatory countries but has not so far arranged a full-scale conference.

The latest resolution for the first time specified a date for a conference -- July 15 -- which would discuss ``measures to enforce the convention in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem.''

Earlier versions of the draft proposed dates in March or April. July would allow more time for preparation and postpone any conference until after Israeli elections set for May 17.

American U.N. envoy Peter Burleigh said the resolution would ``only serve to damage the climate'' for Middle East negotiations, which the United States sponsors. He called it an ''unacceptable assault on the basic uses and meaning'' of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

``This resolution is another step toward politicizing that noble convention, which is fundamentally humanitarian in nature. It demeans the convention to use it as a vehicle to drive the political agendas of parties to a negotiating process,'' he said.

Switzerland's U.N. observer, Jeno Staehelin, said the convention established no mechanism to ensure it was respected.

He cited such issues as under what circumstances such a meeting should be convened, what if one of the principal parties concerned did not participate, how were decisions to be taken, and what rules of procedure would apply.

``Switzerland ... cannot contemplate an active role in convening and holding a conference of this type unless the state parties first define a solid basis for the implementation of such a measure,'' Staehelin said.

Israel says it observes the humanitarian provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention but disputes that it legally applies to the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, on grounds they were not under any legitimate rule when Israel captured them in 1967. Jordan had held the West Bank and East Jerusalem since the first Arab-Israeli war in 1948, while Egypt controlled the Gaza Strip.

Israel In The New Millenium
    (How the CFR and the Roman Catholic Church are setting
                          the stage for Armageddon.)

Background- Don't believe anything you are told by the mainstream media.
It is not for me to argue in favor of the existence of the New World Order
conspiracy.

  What is unarguable is that literally every American politician who left a
profound legacy on the Middle East, and especially Israel, was and is a
member of the Manhattan think tank considered the headquarters of the NWO,
the Council On Foreign Relations (CFR). A short list of some of the better
known characters would include Henry Kissinger and his deputy Joseph Sisco,
Cyrus Vance, James Baker, Warren Christopher, Walter Mondale,
Madeleine Albright et al. Beneath this level of public exposure lies
an insidious cabal of CFR members such as Edgar Bronfman, head of the
World Jewish Congress and Henry Seigman, chairman of the American
Jewish Congress, who exert a powerful influence on Israeli and
Diaspora leaders and ultimately on Jewish public opinion. All
the evidence more than just indicates that the current Middle East peace
process was hatched by the CFR and is promoted with all the necessary
weapons at its disposal.

   This peace process is a surefire formula for war...and soon. The year
2000 will most likely see Israel and its neighbors caught up in bloody
turmoil.

                     The Oslo Accords- Made in New York

  In August 1993, the Israeli government headed by Yitzhak Rabin announced
that it was on the verge of signing a "peace" accord with the PLO. The
American public was told that Washington was completely caught off guard by
the announcement and was even angry for being left out of the negotiations
held in Oslo.

  Later testimony by actors in the Oslo Accord tell a very different
story. In February, 1994 I interviewed one of the two Israeli Oslo
negotiators, Ron Pundak. He told me that, "From the first day we arrived in
Oslo we coordinated our negotiations with the State Department. At the end
of each day's sessions, we reported back to
Washington. Warren Christopher was very skeptical at first, but later
became most helpful to us."

   In August 1995, Rabin told NY Times columnist William Safire that he
never wanted to become involved with this peace process. He admitted that
he was ordered to by President George Bush at a meeting in Kennebunkport,
Maine in September, 1992. Bush demanded that Rabin, "prepare the
Israeli public for some painful withdrawals."

   The CFR had long before corrupted Rabin, in large part through his
"friendship" with Kissinger and now was calling in its cards. The same
grooming and corrupting process has taken place throughout the top rungs of
the Israeli political leadership, including with Prime Minister Binyamin
Netanyahu who has now isolated himself from his government by carrying on
what Rabin was forced to begin: Israel's weakening and then demise.

                                        Goals Of "Peace"

    Although Rabin was the tool to sell Oslo to the Israeli public, the
ultimate goals of this peace process were taken over by Foreign Minister
Shimon Peres and his deputy, Yossi Beilin. Ron Pundak noted, "Beilin
doesn't believe in borders. He thinks they are the root cause of conflict
and doesn't care if Israel loses hers." Shimon Peres
advanced such thinking with a program he called The New Middle East. In his
vision, Israel would give up its present borders, including its most vital
strategic positions, to join in an economic union with its Arab neighbors.
To secure the pullback of Israel's present borders to those of 1948, some
200,000 Jews would have to be removed from their homes. The Israeli
government, through Beilin, obligated itself to carrying out a plan of
delegitimization, in fact  demonization, of the Jewish residents of the
Administered Territories and later the Golan Heights, as a prelude to their
forced removal.

   The secret clauses of Oslo were leaked by an alarmed employee of a
government ministry, first to Jerusalem Post reporter Steve Rodan. After a
three month fact checking period, the Post printed the less frightening
details on its front page and suffered expensive government retaliation
immediately after.

   Through an intermediary, I was given the details of what the Post backed
off printing, which I published in my newsletter Inside Israel. Beilin's
plan called for a covert war against the "settlers" or Jewish residents of
disputed territories, which included incriminating the innocent in
timely outrages and murdering public figures to instill terror and
uncertainty. This plan ultimately led to the assassination of Prime
Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

   When these charges were first published, there was widespread disbelief
that the political leadership of Israel could be so evil. Today in Israel,
thanks to the bungled Rabin murder, perhaps a third of the public accept
that this covert war did take place and is still taking place.

   It is inevitable, that by the year 2000, the festering cover-up of the
Rabin assassination will finally break down. When the truth comes out, that
Rabin's convicted assassin was a minor fall guy for a high level
international conspiracy, and that the leaders of the ruling Labor
government carried out the hit, a sense of utter dismay and abandonment
will erode the very foundations of Labor Zionism. The
effects will be profound beyond immediate comprehension. One would hope
that the ultimate result will be a massive reform of the Israeli political
system.

                         What The Outsiders Want

   In July, 1997, the CFR finally revealed its plans for Israel in its
Middle East Task Force report, headed by Henry Seigman. All doubts about
the CFR's intentions evaporated in the report. It was recommended that
Israel withdraw to its 1948 lines, that Jerusalem
be divided and that half the city be the capital of a Palestinian state.
The world now knew for a written fact what were the ultimate goals of the
diplomacy of CFR members Albright and Clinton. The task force report was a
formula for guaranteed war.

   And, in fact, on a global plane, what has been done to Israel is no
different than what was previously and subsequently arranged for Bosnia,
Croatia, Rwanda, Somalia, Kosovo et al. Bitter enemies were armed to the
teeth and through diplomacy, forced to cooperate with each other elbow to
elbow. One spark was all that was needed to
explode numerous peoples placed in this situation recently and that
spark will fly in Israel before or during the year 2000. Probably several
months before.

   Superficially, Israel is just another in a long line of nations chosen
for chaos in preparation for the international change of status quo called
the New World Order.  But there is far more to the story and it
centers around Jerusalem.

  There is a much symbolism surrounding Jerusalem and the end of the
millenium and not a few people want a piece of the city when the flames die
down. First among them is the Vatican. In a story broken first by La Stampa
in Italy and Shishi in Israel, and later verified with documented proof in
Haaretz, in May 1993, Shimon Peres promised
the pope hegemony of the Old City of Jerusalem by the end of the year
2000. In October of 1998, the Vatican forced out Hebrew University, the
tenants of a large property they own in West Jerusalem and are now building an embassy to be opened prior to the millenium. Barely a month later, the Holy See demanded a say in the final status of Jerusalem as dictated by the first Oslo Accord.

   If the Vatican gets its way and inherits political control over the holy
sites of Jerusalem, it will be greeted by many hundreds of thousands of
Protestant groups from America and Europe who are planning to descend on
the city prior to and during the year 2000 in anticipation of a messianic
return. To satisfy these hopes, prophecies of Gog and Magog may have to be self-fulfilled.

                                  The War Of The Millenium

   War is a near certainty and numerous scenarios could presage it. Most
likely it boils down to the PLO and its sister organizations creating some
atrocity too big for Israel to ignore. Troops will try to crush the
Palestinian Authority and neighboring Arab states will attack Israel on
land or with missiles to defend Islamic honor. Israel, now withdrawn from
many of its most strategic defensive positions, and with an army of 50,000
PLO "policemen" standing mere meters from its cities will be overwhelmed
and forced to use unconventional weapons. The big powers will then step in, send foreign (i.e. UN) troops en masse to keep the peace, dictate terms
over the sovereignty of Jerusalem and greet the new millenium with a New
World Order.

Defector Reveals Russian War Plans Christopher Ruddy February 8, 1999 For NewsMax.com and The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review NewsMax.com has just released a new video with Colonel Lunev, and a special report by Christopher Ruddy on how Y2K increases the risk of a Russian surprise attack against the United States. For More Info Click Here WASHINGTON - Russia cannot threaten the United States. She is poor. She is weak. She is starving. She is in chaos. Think again, says Stanislav Lunev. Col. Lunev is the highest ranking military intelligence officer ever to have defected from Russia. He did so in 1992 after the Soviet Union dissolved and Boris Yeltsin had come to power. At the time of his defection Lunev was living in Washington with his wife, working a cover job as a journalist for TASS, the Russian news agency, while doing his real job: spying on America. As a GRU officer Lunev's spying related to military matters: gathering information on America's military plans; reporting on U.S. vulnerabilities; devising special operations in the advent of war. Last year, Lunev detailed just some of his activities in a new book he co-authored with Ira Winkler, "Through the Eyes of the Enemy: Russia's Highest Ranking Military Defector Reveals Why Russia is More Dangerous than Ever" (Regnery, (800) 639-7629). The book is a light read with some sensational details about Russian plans to bring suitcase nuclear bombs into America and to use special forces to assassinate the president and congressional, military and other leaders during the initial phases of a war. Lunev claims in "Through the Eyes of the Enemy" that Russian military leaders still view a war with the United States as "inevitable" and that the Cold War never really ended. Save for some talk radio outlets and the Internet, Lunev's book got little media coverage. This comes as no surprise since most Americans believe the United States won the Cold War. Russia is not a threat and any suggestion that it is has to be written off as just paranoid jingoism. Lunev is used to unfriendly receptions. When he did defect, higher-ups at the CIA and the Pentagon did not accept what he had to say. What he said was rather simple. Russia is continuing its old ways. The military is still preparing for war against the United States. A nuclear war. In the era of fuzzy warm feelings between the United States and Russia, American officials were not going to upset the applecart no matter how much evidence Lunev offered. In the intervening years, Russia has appeared to further disintegrate. Can she really be a threat? skeptics ask. Lunev most certainly has been proven wrong. Lunev says think again. He retorts that Russia still retains a formidable military-industrial complex. She is one of the world's largest arms exporters. She makes quality products and delivers them on time. Russia continues to build nuclear submarines, bombers and missiles. Last year Yeltsin commissioned Peter the Great, the largest ballistic missile cruiser ever built by mankind. This past Christmas, Russia deployed a regiment of 10 Topol-M intercontinental ballistic missiles, missiles reportedly more sophisticated than anything we have. Just last month, Russia unveiled her stealth bomber. The New York Times reports Russia continues to build huge underground bunkers, some as large as cities, in case of war. She also continues to build an arsenal of chemical and biological weapons. Russia's nuclear arsenal remains the world's largest. She continues testing of her nuclear weapons. Such facts demonstrate that Lunev, who refuses to be photographed for security reasons, is not to be dismissed. INTERVIEW Ruddy: Colonel Lunev, you were first and foremost a spy for Russia who posed as a journalist. In your book you discuss the help you received from American journalists. How significant was the Russian penetration of the American press corps? How many American journalists were working for Russia? Lunev: In my book I talk about myself. Keep this in mind, when I worked in TASS' Washington bureau, I had two colleagues from the KGB also working as agents. So we had plenty of people undercover working as journalists. How many people they recruited? I don't know. But I can tell you that journalists, American journalists and foreign journalists in this country, were considered a major target. They were the same level of target as military, government personnel or Capitol Hill staff. Ruddy: When you say targets, you mean? Lunev: Recruits. Ruddy: It has been acknowledged that the East German government had as many as 5,000 spies working for it in West Germany. Lunev: East German intelligence was very successful. Very successful. I don't know exactly how many people they recruited, but they were very successful. Not only in penetrations through Western Germany and the European establishment, but through American institutions located in Western Europe. Ruddy: What do you think the degree of penetration is of the U.S. government by communist or former communist countries in the CIA, the FBI, and State Department? Lunev: It could be hundreds. But I don't know the exact number. Recently the FBI admitted there were a couple of hundred open cases of espionage they were investigating. These are the ones they know about. So you can multiply this number by many times to guess the number of people who are working as spies whom the government does not know about. Ruddy: You were not only a spy, but a military intelligence officer. Your work involved developing military plans and learning of other countries' plans. What did you study when you were in military schools in Russia? Lunev: We had a lot of special subjects we needed to learn, including military science. We learned basic ways of commanding armies and how to conduct military operations. Ruddy: How much of your training and education was geared toward fighting a nuclear war? Lunev: All of our educational process and training was connected to the actual fulfillment of military plans in time of a nuclear war. Ruddy: Your book suggests that the whole Russian military structure, the whole society during the Soviet era was geared for a nuclear war, and that has not changed under the new regime. Lunev: Yes. The Soviet plan was the use of strategic forces to destroy strategic targets in America and the West, followed by the use of nuclear and conventional forces. This was the Soviet way, and the Russian military still thinks the same way today. They are much more dangerous now because the Russian military is relying more on their nuclear weapons. Ruddy: What about a first strike on the United States? The likely plan does not include use of missiles first. First the Russians would use their special operation forces, special troops, inside of the United States to destroy targets like communications facilities, airfields, command centers, and other targets that might be difficult to destroy with a missile attack. Suitcase nuclear bombs at strategic locations are just one small part of their arsenal. I mentioned this in my book and I have been so surprised that the American public is so interested in this. Why? This is not something unusual for Russian military plans. Ruddy: One of your jobs here in the U.S. as a spy was to look for locations to hook up these suitcase nukes to electric power sources. It's not really necessary to have an electric power source because the devices can work on a battery. But not for very long. Ruddy: Are there such bombs in the United States already? Lunev: It's possible. Ruddy: How soon could this war come? Lunev: The Russian conventional forces are not in a state of readiness. Their rocket and nuclear forces are. This war scenario could be in place by the request of Russian government in a short time. Russia is a country on the edge of social explosion. The total decline of living conditions: human, industrial, political, social, and now the financial crisis. This could lead to war. Ruddy: It's dangerous because the Russians may consider their only option is to use the "gun." At the same time, the United States has been destroying its nuclear forces. Lunev: Yes! I am sorry, but let me ask you, what's going on in this country? Right now the Russians are engaging in criminal extortion for money. This is the same method criminals use. Every other day, in conversations with Western leaders, the Russians are saying "show me the money or something dangerous will happen in my country with tens of thousands of nuclear warheads." It's extortion. There could be an explosion, a catastrophe. It could happen in Russia, and somebody like a major general or a one-star general or colonel will come to power without any international experience. If such a person would come to power, pushing the nuclear button would be no problem. Ruddy: If that happened, how long would it take for a strong leader to get the conventional forces ready if he wanted to start a nuclear war against the United States? Lunev: A few months. You have to remember that the Russians have the same number of submarines, nuclear missile submarines, ships, bombers, fighters, tanks and the like as they did at the height of Soviet military power. I know that Russian military downswing was connected with Army divisions only, and these divisions could be rebuilt in weeks or months. Ruddy: China also is moving closer to Russia. China has the largest conventional army in the world. What danger does that pose? Lunev: If China and Russia would ally in a war against the United States, with Russia providing the strategic weapons and China the troops, they could begin the war tomorrow. Ruddy: Recent press reports state that the Russians have been helping the Chinese develop ballistic missile technology. Lunev: I would say that actually the Chinese missile industry was created by the Soviet Union, by Soviet specialists, by Soviet technology and by education of Chinese engineers and scientists in Soviet institutions. So the Soviet Union, let's say, played the major role in the establishment of the Chinese missile industry. But this was in the '50s before the Sino-Russia split. This split was healed in the late 1980s and any ideological obstacle for helping China was removed. China, of course, pays big money to Russia for this technology. Ruddy: Well, it does seem that some steps the Russians are taking suggest war preparations. They are building a huge underground complex in the Ural Mountains. Have you heard about that? Lunev: You ask about Yamantau Mountain. Well, this is a huge underground city which could be used in time when many Russian cities are destroyed, but the military and political elite will survive and live until our planet will try to restore itself. Ruddy: The American military is downsizing because there is no Warsaw Pact. We have let down our defenses. If the Russians were to launch a first strike, a surprise attack against the United States, they could wipe us almost off the map. European countries like Britain and France have small nuclear arsenals. If the U.S. does not exist, Russia rules the world because after an attack, she will still have a huge nuclear arsenal. Lunev: Yes. Ruddy: Is it possible that the Russian Communists planned this? That the intelligence agencies and the military establishment said, "Hey, if we give up Eastern Europe, if we throw open the economy, democratize, allow the country to seem in chaos, the Americans will let down their guard. We can get them to reduce their strategic nuclear forces, and they won't think of us as a threat." Lunev: I believe there was a plan. I cannot prove it to you. It is my hunch this is what happened. This is based on my experiences, things I saw going on. Because now, six years later, it looks like it was planned, but at that time we didn't have any idea that it was possible to plan all this activity. Ruddy: Well, it seems to me the most important information you have is that the Cold War isn't over: that the Russian military believes inevitably that there will be a war with the United States. Lunev: In April of 1998, Russia used its strategic bombers in an exercise against the United States. These exercises were organized for the future war against America. Before that there were several nuclear exercises. In the fall of 1998, President Yeltsin commissioned Peter the Great, the world's largest nuclear missile cruiser. They have been doing ground forces exercises. Airborne force exercises. All of these exercises are being conducted for a reason, for the future war against America. Ruddy: What do you think are the chances, I know this is highly speculative, that there will be a nuclear global war between Russia and the United States within the next five years? Lunev: I need to repeat myself. In a time of social explosion in Russia, nobody can exclude the possibility that it will begin. Preparations for this nuclear war are now being made in Russia. Ruddy: Would the Russian people support such a war? Lunev: In recent years and times, the feelings of the Russian people toward America have begun to change. The Russian people believe the United States is giving money to the corrupt Russian government, which never helps the ordinary Russians. America has identified herself so strongly with Yeltsin, and now Yeltsin and his government are viewed as corrupt. There is a perception that America, who destroyed the old Soviet Union, is again trying to destroy Russia. Ruddy: A former American general, Benjamin Partin, suggested that if, after the Allies had beaten Hitler in World War II, and the new German government was filled with ex-Nazis in the Cabinet, ex-Nazis in the military, ex-Nazis in the private businesses, would we believe we won? General Partin notes that in today's Russia, ex-Communists, many high-level Soviet officials, run most of the government and private businesses. Most of the republics are run by former Communists. Lunev: Well, almost all, yes. General Partin is correct in his concerns. Ruddy: It appears that in 1917 when the Communists came to power in Russia, they were not much more than organized crime figures. Lunev: Yes, they are the same. They are together. There is no difference. Ruddy: It seems this permanent government will be always seeking domination, whether official or through organized crime means. Lunev: And you are right, but how will you sell this idea to America? Ruddy: You can't sell it to America, because they believe all the bad guys just gave up with the end of the Cold War. One day it was all over, we won. End of story. Lunev: You should know this did not happen in one day, like on Christmas Day of 1991 when Gorbachev dissolved the Soviet Union. A long time before this the KGB began to transfer Communist Party money to private accounts under the names of different people in Western countries. At the same time the KGB moved some of their very experienced people, including generals, sometimes four-star generals, into the new private businesses being formed in Russia. For example, former KGB agents joined financial and industrial groups. Since they had intelligence backgrounds, they could be placed in various positions, like vice president in charge of personnel or foreign operations. The KGB established these private accounts, controlled by their own people using money from the CCCP - the Communist Party assets - for the future, for the future restoration of communism. Ruddy: The power of organized crime in Russia developed so quickly. What role did the KGB play in its rise to power? Lunev: The KGB and the old-line Communists needed to use criminals in this phase because who had experience in money laundering? Who has connections with drug cartels? With other organized crime groups in Western countries? The KGB worked closely with these groups and actually provided passports and permission for criminals to travel abroad. Organized crime in Russia has existed for a long time, as long as anyone can remember. Ruddy: So people are thinking in terms of restoring the Communist Party there? Lunev: Yes, I think that they made plans to bring back the Communists. The Politburo accomplished this at the end of the 1980s and the early '90s when millions, if not billions, of dollars from Communist Party accounts were transferred by KGB officers with assistance and help from criminals.

It's true that abortion is legal but, hey, so was the Holocaust

Some female columnist was screaming that violence directed against abortion
clinics is domestic terrorism. Her whining is a good example of feminists'
lack of logic.


In building her case, she quotes Bill Clinton's wife as saying that in the
past 10 years there had been seven killings, 38 bombings, 146 arsons and 733
instances of vandalism directed at abortion providers.


She neglected to say, of course, that during the same 10 years abortionists
killed more than 10 million children. One would think one would wish to keep
matters in perspective. But perspective is the last thing a special pleader
wants.


She tries to assert that the handful of crimes committed during a 10-year
period constitutes a campaign of domestic terrorism. That's balderdash.


Take, for example, seven killings during a 10-year period. Homicides in the
United States run on average from 18,000 to 22,000 per year. Abortionists
certainly run no greater risk of getting whacked than normal people do.


But what about those 146 cases of arson during a 10-year period? Well, in one
typical year, say 1994, 17,000 Americans were arrested on a charge of arson
and 260,000 on a charge of vandalism.


In other words, violence directed at abortion clinics is greatly exaggerated.
It amounts to a mere pittance in the annual toll of criminal behavior in our
diverse, multicultural paradise.


Then she screams, "Hey, abortion is legal!"

Well, so was the Holocaust. The Nazis violated no German laws in killing
people during World War II. In fact, if a guard at a death camp killed an
inmate on his own, he was subject to courtmartial and punishment. You see,
whatever the Nazis wanted to do, they authorized it by passing laws.

The point being that mass murder can be made legal. The Nazis made mass murder
legal during the Holocaust, and the U.S. Supreme Court made mass murder legal
in Roe vs. Wade. In fact, they both used the same logic by depriving those
earmarked for death of personhood.

To say something is legal is to say only that it has the stamp of approval of
the current government in power. It is not to say that it is morally right,
humane or good. Governments can make evil legal and do it all the time.

It gives one great pause to reflect that the difference between being a non-
person with no right to life, marked by law for death, and being a human being
with the right to life boiled down to a few birth contractions and a trip of a
few inches down the birth canal.

It's as if the law, in its great politicized wisdom, said it's OK to kill your
children if you do it before they can get out of the nursery, but once they
crawl across the threshold into another room, you can't kill them.

It seems to me that legalized killing of children, commonly called abortion,
is only one of the parallels between post-modern America and the Germany that
gave birth to Nazism. We have the same decadence, the same militant defense of
decadence by so-called intellectuals, the same trend toward authoritarianism,
the same disregard of human life, the same unwillingness to make moral
judgments.

Oswald Spengler, in his book, Decline of the West, projected that the 1990s
would mark the transition between the Age of Money, marked by the dominance of
great cities and greed, to the Age of Caesars, a return to dictatorships.

The ideological fanaticism of abortion-supporters leads me to believe that the
old gentleman may prove correct in his predictions.

The Ark of the Covenant

Over the years Wyatt Archaeological Research has received numerous questions and inquiries about the discovery of the Ark of the Covenant. While there are some questions that cannot be answered at this time, we want to give out as much information as possible. Below are answers to some of the more common questions we are asked.

If the Ark was really found in 1982, why has this not been heard in the media after more than 15 years?

The reason that you have not heard about this discovery in the media is because verification of the discovery is being kept from the media by Israeli officials. They have also asked Ron not to reveal certain sensitive information associated with the find.

You may hear passing references to Ron's discovery as well as several of the other 5 or so groups that say they have discovered the Ark in other places. Ron's discovery is thought by most to be only another one of "those stories".

Only a few within the Israeli government, 3 or 4 people, know of this discovery. It is being held as a state secret because of the chaos that would be created in both the Jewish and the Arab religious communities if an official announcement were to be made.

Today in Israel there is a strong push for Israel to take back the temple mount so that a third temple can be built there. This movement is growing daily and is being promoted by certain religious Jews and evangelical Christian groups. There have been several serious incidents in recent years because of their efforts. Because, in their minds, the discovery of the Ark would immediately dictate a call for a “temple” to house it, the official verification of the discovery would undoubtedly be catastrophic.

Now that the Ark has been found, how is it being protected? Is there any danger of it falling into the wrong hands?

The Ark has been in its present location for about 2600 years and has been perfectly safe for that time. There is no reason to believe that it is in any danger now.

From time to time we get reports such as the following: “the area (where the ark is located) is surrounded by a high fence and is being guarded by military troops.” This is absolutely not true. The Ark is located in a cave just outside the north wall of the old city of Jerusalem. It is protected in the same way God has always protected it ............. by His angels. There is no need for anything beyond this.

Will the revealing of the Ark be connected with the building of the third temple?

Many, both Jew and Christian, have taken this position ...... that the discovery of the Ark of the Covenant would demand the building of a “third temple”. However this is not the case.

Many have not considered that the Ark of the Covenant was NOT in the second temple, the temple that existed during the time Jesus Christ was here on earth. In fact, the Jews built a table called the “table of the Lord” to take its place (Ezekiel 41:22; 44:13, 15, 16). Even without the Ark being in the second temple we know historically and Biblically that the offerings and sacrifices still took place. Therefore, while many might desire the building of a third temple, there is absolutely no necessity that will be created by the announcement of the discovery of the Ark.

What is the current status of the Ark of the Covenant excavation?

The status of the Ark of the Covenant dig is that it is finished. The next thing to take place in regards to the Ark is for the tables of stone to be brought out and made available for viewing.

When will the Ark be revealed to the world?

We get a lot of pressure from various people about this question but it is God that will dictate the timing of the revealing of the Ark of the Covenant and the tables of stone to the world. No man will make that decision. The timing of that revelation has been revealed to Ron Wyatt. However that revelation will be associated with certain events, not a specific date or time.

The time of the revealing of the Ark is not scheduled to coincide with any dedication or building of a temple or anything associated with it. However, there is an event that will be the signal for Ron to bring out the tables of stone from the place where they have been hidden for over 2500 years. That event will be when man's law forces a form of worship upon people that is contrary to God's law.

In reference to the blood of Christ that was found by Ron on the Mercy Seat, has there been or is there any plans to get a unbiased scientific work done on the sample by a source not affiliated with Wyatt Archaeological Research?

A very interesting question. It has been our experience over the years that any scientist's report on our work is considered unbiased if it is a negative report. However, once a scientist verifies our evidence and findings they are immediately taken to be either “associated with Wyatt Archaeological Research” or their credentials and motives are called into question. Regardless, the time will come when scientists will have opportunity to go into the cave where the Ark is located, take their own samples of the blood and perform their own independent tests.

As we have stated on the home page of this web site, “As is to be expected, the discoveries Ron has made are very controversial among the scientific as well as scholarly communities. As a result, we never look to scientists or scholars to "confirm" them. We employ scientific testing, then present the evidences of those tests and the testimony of experts as to the results. We then present the body of evidences, biblical, historical, archaeological and scientific, and believe each individual is capable of making their own decision.

With the world's population expected to hit 6 billion later this year _ an increase of 20 percent in just 12 years _ 140 non-governmental organizations met in the Netherlands Sunday to assess progress toward slowing population growth since a landmark conference in 1994 in Cairo. Despite a serious shortfall in funding, both from industrialized donor countries and developing nations, Mrs. Clinton called for the groups to keep working. ``The challenge to all of us is to persevere. Don't ever think that the work you do day in and day out is not having an impact on people's lives,'' she told the meeting ahead of a U.N. forum opening Monday. ``You are the vanguard of Cairo.'' A global resolution adopted at the International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo calls for universal access to affordable reproductive health services by 2015, including family planning, sexual health services and programs for adolescents. ``We have come a long way in the last years. A warm shalom to you from your friend and brother in the holy city of Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Israel. We are writing to you at a very critical time in the prophetic end-time process of redemption of the people and land of Israel. You have become an important part of the Faithful Movement. Your efforts are needed to win this major battle for G-d and for His end-time plans. Time is short. Each of us are tested daily. We know so clearly that the G-d of Israel is determined to accomplish His end-time plans and He will not allow any of the enemies of Israel to hurt His people. Our friends in America are called on to stop the plans of President Clinton to put pressure on Israel to give away parts of the land which G-d gave to Israel. President Clinton has a plan to force Israel to give these areas to the most cruel enemy of Israel -- Yasser Arafat and his band of "Palestinian" murderers. I am sure that President Clinton does not represent the feelings of the American people. I believe that it was no accident that the United States was founded over 200 years ago and has become the strongest power in the world. It is also not an accident that the founders of America based their country on the principles of the prophets of Israel and the Bible. I am sure that G-d dedicated America to walk hand in hand with Israel at this critical time and to help her accomplish her prophetic mission. G-d has stirred the hearts of many millions from all over the world to love Israel. G-d is acting to fulfill His promise that righteous people from the nations will give their love to Israel at a time when it is so needed and will help Israel to again put her roots in the Promised Land.

"Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and set up my standard to the people; and they shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. And kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers; they shall bow down to you with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of your feet; and you shall know that I am the Lord; for those who wait for me shall not be ashamed." (Isaiah 49:22-23)

This word of G-d is also directed to our righteous friends in Europe. Please open the hearts and eyes of your leaders not to join the enemies of Israel. Perhaps in this way they can receive some forgiveness from G-d for almost 2,000 bloody years of hatred against the Jewish people and open their hearts to understand that the redemption of Israel is a very clear condition for their own redemption. This call is also directed to every other part of the world.

The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement is looking forward to your cooperation and your spiritual, moral, political and practical help. We are close to the fulfillment. Let us do it together like one family of G-d. The G-d and people of Israel will never forget those who gave themselves with such devotion to His people at this difficult time.

Jubilee Year of Israel

Israel is celebrating the Jubilee year of redemption. This is the first Jubilee in the modern history of Israel. The unique significance of this Jubilee is that it is celebrated at the time of the end-time redemption. Even though the people of Israel have passed through exciting times in their Biblical history, we are now living in the most exciting time in the history of the Chosen People of G-d. All the prophecies of the G-d of Israel are being fulfilled since the creation of the State of Israel.

Over the past 50 years, G-d has again dramatically appeared in the life of His beloved nation and the land. All His prophetic promises to Israel are becoming a reality.

According to the Word of G-d, three major events will occur in the end-times prior to the coming of Mashiach ben David. The first is the re-establishment of the State of Israel in the land of Israel. The second is the regathering of the Jewish people to the Promised Land from all over the world. The third is the rebuilding of the Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on the same place as the First and Second Temples.

The first condition has been fulfilled although not completely to the boundaries which G-d promised to Abraham. In the Six Day War, G-d brought Israel to the Jordan River. The rest is soon going to be fulfilled. This is the land which He chose for Himself and for His people and He had a reason when He defined the boundaries.

The second condition is in the process of being fulfilled. In 1948 Israel started with a Jewish population of 600,000 which has now grown to 4,800,000. Everyday more Jews return home. Even lost tribes of Jews from the far corners of the world are being regathered by G-d. Parts of the ten lost tribes have also started to return. Groups like the Ethiopian Jews from the tribe of Dan and Jews from Asia who belonged to the tribe of Manasseh and others have returned.

The third condition is soon to be fulfilled. As a result of the miraculous events of the Six Day War of 1967, G-d brought Israel back to the Temple Mount, the whole of Jerusalem and the Biblical areas of Judea, Samaria, Gaza, the Golan Heights and the Sinai peninsula. This was not an accidental event. G-d brought us back to the Temple Mount to build His House and to open another end-time era in the life of Israel. The terrible, sinful mistake of the then Defense Minister, Moshe Dayan, did not cancel G-d's plans. G-d's plans were merely delayed to the coming generation. 30 years have passed since this big event and a new generation has emerged. Now the time is ripe for the Temple to be rebuilt. This is the climax of all the events before the coming of Mashiach ben David. G-d wants to again dwell in the midst of His beloved people, Israel.

The Temple will soon be rebuilt. Many preparations have been started for this. The cornerstone that the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement prepared and brought to Jerusalem is ready. Many vessels, garments, and the menorah are in the process of preparation. Priests have started to prepare themselves for worship in the Temple. Models and plans of the Third Temple are being drawn up. Money is being raised by people in Israel and from all over the world for this purpose.

The campaign of the Faithful Movement for the rebuilding of the Temple is coming close to its climax. Our task is to bring our lovely G-d into the midst of the life of Israel and of all mankind. The Third Temple will be built by the people and government of Israel. This is what G-d expects from us. G-d could do it by Himself but He desires Israel to do it as a demonstration of our trust in Him and to demonstrate that we are not afraid of the pagan enemies who are today holding the holy site. This is today the main task of the Faithful Movement. We have dedicated our lives to this G-dly purpose. We shall do everything with all our heart, soul, and strength by all legal means to make it a reality in our lifetime.

The First Skirmishes of the Gog-Magog War

As the Jubilee year of the State of Israel opens, we see how events are steadily moving toward the fulfillment of G-d's end-time promises to the people of Israel. We are coming closer and closer to the most critical time of the G-dly process of the redemption of the people of Israel. The miraculous G-dly events of the rebirth of the State of Israel and the regathering of the Jewish people have been paralleled by wars and terror and now by threats of nuclear, chemical and biological warfare.

The prophet Ezekiel prophesied that in the end-times of the redemption of the people of Israel, a terrible war will break out in the land when Gog and Magog with many other nations come to the land of Israel and try to destroy the people and State of Israel (Ezekiel 38-39). G-d said that He would bring this enemy from the far north against the mountains of Israel. The prophet Zechariah also spoke about the same event (Zechariah 12-14).

The rebuilding of the Temple has been the desire of this nation over the last 2,000 years since the destruction of the Second Temple in the year 70 c.e. This is the main goal of the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement.

We have tried to understand how G-d would accomplish His end-time plans for Israel. The questions that arose were: Why, from the first moment of the redemptional process of Israel, would Israel be attacked again and again. Why, close to the end of this process, would the Gog and Magog war break out? Why could this wonderful process not be accomplished without wars? Why, as in Biblical times, is Israel again surrounded by so many enemies who want to destroy her? Why does the small David, armed only with a small rock, again need to fight against giants? As we come closer and closer to the accomplishment of the redemption process we can begin to give answers to these questions. We only need to read Ezekiel and Zechariah carefully to gain understanding. The G-d of Israel will use this means to finally defeat all those many enemies of Israel who have continually tried to destroy the State and people of Israel and push them into the Mediterranean. Now in the Jubilee year of Israel they prepare to destroy Israel with terrible weapons.

Iran, with Russian help, has started to build an atomic capability with long-range missiles directed at Israel. Syria, Egypt and the other Arab countries are also preparing for an atomic, chemical and biological war against Israel.

During the latest Gulf crisis precipitated when Saddam Hussein refused access to UN weapon inspectors to palaces suspected of housing biological and chemical weapons plants, Boris Yeltsin, the Russian President, warned Clinton that an attack against Iraq would result in a Third World War. Russia is doing all it can to renew her political and military ties with the Arab countries around Israel. After helping Iran to become a nuclear power and also helping Iraq to develop her nonconventional arsenal, Russia is now doing the same with Syria. Are Russia and her Arab allies the enemy of the North that the prophets spoke about?!

It is not an accident that this international crisis started in the Middle East. This was a continuation of the Gulf War of 1991. As long as Saddam Hussein continues to be the ruler of Iraq, this crisis will not be solved.

The "Palestinian" Authority has also started to prepare for a war against Israel. They have brought in weapons from every direction to arm their forces. These are the forces that the former government of Israel, in a terrible and sinful mistake, helped to create. The enemies of Israel have never learned their lesson from history. The missiles which Saddam sent to Israel in 1991 totally destroyed houses but no Israelis were killed as a direct result of the missiles. G-d showed everyone in the world that He is determined to protect and save His people, Israel. The enemies of Israel do not understand how terrible G-d's judgement will be against them.

The coming war will be the final war undertaken against Israel by her enemies. In it G-d will terribly defeat them. The prophet Zechariah describes the way G-d will defeat and punish them and it makes us think of a nuclear, chemical and biological war. "And this shall be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their sockets, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth." (Zechariah 14:12)

After this war the new (G-dly) era will start. The Third Temple will be the House of G-d, the only building on the Temple Mount. Mashiach ben David will be the King of Israel and all mankind.

Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel. The "Palestinians" want to make Jerusalem a "Palestinian" capital. All the rest of the Islamic nations want to make it an Islamic city. The Pope decided that Rome is not enough for him and he wants Jerusalem as well. The United Nations rejects Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and wants to make it an international city. They even tried to stop Israel from building new houses in Jerusalem. We can see how the black clouds are coming closer and closer to Jerusalem and to the mountains of Israel. The march of Gog and Magog and all their allies has started in the direction of Jerusalem and Israel.

In conclusion, the so-called recent Gulf crisis was not solved. At best it has only been postponed. As the crisis progressed, we could see in the streets of all the Arab nations of the Middle East how they demonstrated solidarity with Saddam Hussein and how they hated Israel and the United States. The flags of both countries were repeatedly burned by the crowds. This is because Hussein embodies their goals, feelings and emotions to destroy Israel and to create another Holocaust. These feelings and goals cannot be suppressed for very long. One day, and as it looks, very soon, they will explode. The situation can be seen as a time bomb. The Munich agreement with Hitler did not stop or cancel his bloody goals but only delayed them for a short time and then the price was terrible. Likewise, the false Oslo Agreements have not solved any problems and have not canceled the goals of the so-called "Palestinians" to destroy Israel and to found a "Palestinian" state in its stead. The war clouds of Gog and Magog are gathering around Israel. The time of judgment is close at hand. Israel will survive this war and become the nation which G-d and all the prophets dreamed about: "Now therefore, if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own treasure among all peoples; for all the earth is mine; And you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the people of Israel." (Exodus 19:5-6)

PAST ACTIVITIES OF THE FAITHFUL

Sukkoth - The Temple Cornerstone

The cornerstone for the Third Temple was brought to the gates of the Temple Mount by the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement and their followers on 20th October during the holy Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkoth). The rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem has a very deep significance for the life of Israel. Every aspect of life in Israel will be affected by the Temple. We believe that it will bring the G-d of Israel to the center of all aspects of the life of this nation. This can only be accomplished when His House is established on the Temple Mount on the location of the First and Second Temples.

We felt so clearly that the 50th year, the Year of Jubilee, would be the right (G-dly) time to lay the cornerstone. We can hear the Voice of G-d saying to us exactly as He said through the prophet Haggai before the building of the Second Temple when the people of Israel hesitated to rebuild the House of G-d: "Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying, 'This people say that the time has not yet come, the time that the Lord's house should be built. ... Is it time for you, yourselves, to dwell in your well timbered houses, while this house lies in ruins?'" (Haggai 1:2,4) So we decided to do what Zerubbabel, Ezra and Nehemiah did in their time: dedicate a cornerstone for the Third Temple, lay it on the Temple Mount in the location which G-d indicated to us, and start the G-dly process of the rebuilding of the House of G-d.

The cornerstone, which weighs 4.5 tons, was brought from Mitzpe Ramon which is in the desert of Israel. This is a beautiful marble stone which was not cut or polished by any metal. We found the stone in a miraculous way. It is a natural stone which is similar to the stones of which the Second Temple was built. This stone was given to us by a Jewish family, named Alafi, who returned to the land of Israel from Babylon almost 50 years ago. They have a tradition in their family that they were the builders of the First and Second Temples and that they would also be the builders of the Third temple. They have even started preparing other stones for the Third Temple.

In the early morning of October 20th this cornerstone was loaded on a flatbed truck. The truck was covered with Israeli flags and a Chuppah covered the stone. The truck brought the cornerstone to the southern gates of the Old City of Jerusalem and to the Temple Mount. The southern gates of the Temple Mount were the main gates through which pilgrims entered the First and Second Temples. Many members of the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement and their friends joined together near the Western gate of the Temple Mount. Also joining them were priests, one of whom wore the original priestly garments which had been prepared in Jerusalem in recent years according to the biblical law. Levites with musical instruments and shofars also played an important part in this event. Ten vessels which had been reconstructed in Jerusalem for the Third Temple were brought to be used in this historical event.

A large crowd marched with music, songs and great joy to the cornerstone which waited in front of the City of King David. Israeli soldiers joined the marchers lending an official meaning to the event. The shofars were blown by the Levites and Gershon Salomon read the Psalms and prayers of King David when he dedicated the first altar on the Temple Mount and from the prayer of King Solomon when he dedicated the First Temple.

When we were ready to march with the cornerstone to the Temple Mount, the police officer in charge told us that the government had decided not to allow us to lay the cornerstone on the Temple Mount. They were fearful of an Arab and international reaction. The weakness of the government again prevented the beginning of the rebuilding of the Temple. Again, it was fear of the enemies of G-d and not the fear of Almighty G-d that barred progress. We decided to march with the stone to the City of King David. In doing this we announced to everyone in Israel and the world that we had started the process of the rebuilding of the House of G-d.

The City of David was filled with joy, songs and music when we came to the Pool of Siloam. We made the same ceremony which our forefathers did in the First and Second Temples when they drew the holy water from the Pool of Siloam and poured it on the altar. This ceremony was accompanied by our prayers asking G-d to bless with much rain during the coming winter. The holy water was taken by the priest in a special vessel and we marched back to the truck with the cornerstone. The special shofars of the Levites were blown very loudly and could be heard in all the city of King David as the priest poured the water on the cornerstone. In this way the cornerstone was dedicated to be the first holy stone for the Third Temple. We prayed that G-d would give us the privilege of pouring water on the altar in the rebuilt Temple at the next Feast of Tabernacles.

After the reading of G-d's promises to King David and King Solomon about the building of the First Temple, we continued to march to the southern gates of the Temple Mount. The truck with the cornerstone circled the walls of the Old City seven times symbolizing what Joshua did in Jericho. We prayed that the walls of hatred against Israel would fall. After this we entered the Old City and prayed before the closed western gate of the Temple Mount. Gershon Salomon called on the Israeli government to end the pagan Islamic occupation of the Temple Mount immediately, to rebuild the House of G-d, and to make it a House of worship and prayer for Israel and all the nations.

Later the crowd marched with Israeli flags, music and songs through the streets of the Old City to the other gates of the Temple Mount. Near every gate we stopped, blew the shofars and read from the Psalms. The presence of G-d and the spirit of our forefathers followed us everywhere we went.

These events were reported by the television, radio and news media in Israel as well as the international media. The process of the rebuilding of the Temple has begun. Now we must continue that rebuilding; this is the clear will of G-d. We invite everyone to answer the call of God to assist us spiritually, morally and practically in completing this holy work. May G-d bless everyone who dedicated himself to this (G-dly) event.

Hanukkah - The Temple Menorah

On December 30th, the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement held a unique event. Early in the morning we drove to the tombs of the Maccabees at Modiin, 25 miles from Jerusalem. There we lit a torch and the Hanukkah Menorah at the tombs of the Maccabean heroes. We felt that we were the spiritual descendants of the Maccabees and that G-d had dedicated the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement to do at this time what the Maccabees had done in their time; to purify the Temple Mount from foreign, pagan Arab, Islamic presence and to rebuild the House of G-d.

The youth of the movement ran with the torch of the Maccabees to Jerusalem. Our goal was to bring this torch to the Temple Mount. Everyone along the way blessed us and called on us to continue this important campaign. In Jerusalem we protested against the presence of the PLO murderers at Orient House in the midst of Jerusalem. We symbolically buried the idea of establishing a foreign "Palestinian" state in the midst of the land which G-d gave to Israel. As the Maccabees did we burned the flag of the enemy, the PLO, to state very clearly that such a flag will never fly in the midst of Jerusalem or any other place in the land which G-d promised to Israel. We also lit the Hanukkah Menorah with the torch of the Maccabees.

At midday we again lit the Hanukkah Menorah at the Damascus Gate of the Old City to demonstrate the sovereignty of the G-d and people of Israel over this city which G-d chose to be the capital of Israel. We sang and danced along the main road of the city to the Temple Mount with the Hanukkah Menorah and the flags going ahead. We stopped near the place where Gabriel Hirschberg had been killed a few weeks earlier by the agents of the PLO and Hamas. We renamed the street in honor of his name.

When we came to the Temple Mount the gates were closed to us. The Arabs prohibited the entrance of any Israeli. They did this on the holiday of Hanukkah which symbolizes the battle for the liberation and purification of the Temple Mount. It was sad to see the weakness of the Israeli government which lacks the vision and courage to open it at such a unique time. The Temple Mount is permanently closed to Jewish and Christian prayer.

After we brought the torch of the Maccabees to the Temple Mount we lit the Hanukkah Menorah near the western gate. We had a deep feeling that the G-d of Israel will soon open the gates to His Jewish sons. The day of the building of the Third Temple will soon come. He is determined to redeem His Mountain, Jerusalem, and all the land of Israel.

In the afternoon we continued to the American Consulate in Jerusalem. We demonstrated against the pressure applied by President Clinton on Israel to give away parts of Judea, Samaria and Gaza to the murderer, Arafat for the establishment of a foreign "Palestinian" state. We called on Clinton not to betray his own people who are so friendly towards Israel. We sent the message that Israel is not a "Banana Republic" with which he can play negative political games. We stated very clearly that only the G-d of Israel controls the destiny of Israel. More important rulers than Clinton have passed from history by the judgment and punishment of G-d when they tried to destroy Israel or to take the land from them.

This special day ended outside the residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. We called on him to be strong and to resist yielding to Clinton, Albright and the other "friends" of Israel.

Tree Planting on Tu B'Shevat

On February 11th we celebrated the Jewish New Year for trees. This is a unique holiday in Israel which has been observed since Biblical times. From the first moment of the Zionist resettlement of the land it has been important to plant all kinds of trees. Millions of trees have been planted all over the country.

The land is now becoming a blooming garden. Trees and houses cover the land. Small children play among them exactly as Isaiah prophesied. G-d is again dwelling in the land with His people.

On Tu B'Shevat the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement planted trees at Har Chomah. We conveyed the message that we are again planting our roots in the land which G-d promised us in an eternal covenant. We are here forever and none of the enemies of G-d will ever again cut our roots and the roots of our trees in this country. We shall again make Jerusalem the most beautiful city in the world filled with trees and gardens. Small Israeli children will again play among them. This dream has already been realized to a large degree. It will be more completely realized in the future.

STORY OF THE TEMPLE MOUNT AND THE TEMPLES

The history of the Temple Mount started with the creation of the Universe. The first place created was the rock on the top of the Temple Mount. Tradition maintains that G-d stood on this place and from here created the rest of the universe. The Temple Mount is also held to be the site of the Garden of Eden where G-d created Adam and Eve. It was also to this rock that G-d sent Abraham to sacrifice Isaac and on this rock Abraham built the altar.

King David, after occupying Jerusalem around 1000 b.c.e., bought the Temple Mount from Arauna, built an altar there and sacrificed to G-d. (2 Samuel 24:25) Later, David brought the Ark of the Covenant from Kiriath Jearim to the Temple Mount in a very joyful ceremony at the time of the Feast of Sukkoth. (1 Chronicles 13:8)

King Solomon built the First Temple around 950 b.c.e. (2 Chronicles 3:1) The Temple was the heart and soul of the Israelite nation serving as the religious and national center of all the tribes of Israel. For many generations the impact of the Temple on the life of Israel was tremendous. The First Temple was approximately 35 meters long (115.5 feet) and around 10 meters wide (33 feet). The main parts of the Temple included the entrance with the 2 pillars (Jachin and Boaz), the vestibule (ulam), the Holy Place (heichal), and the Holy of Holies (devir). The Ark of the Covenant was located in the Holy of Holies and it contained the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, the manna, and Aaron's rod. Only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies and then only once a year on the Day of Atonement. G-d appeared behind the Cherubim which were on top of the Ark. It was very beautifully designed. The Israelites came three times each year for pilgrim festivals. (Exodus 34:23-24)

The First Temple was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzer, the king of Babylon, on Tisha b'Av, 586 b.c.e. After two generations of exile, Zerubbabel came to Jerusalem from Babylon in 536 b.c.e. and started the rebuilding of the Temple. In 10 b.c.e., King Herod began to rebuild and glorify the Temple. Ten thousand workers and one thousand priests were engaged in the work. It took eight years to prepare the stones and bring them to the site. The actual construction took three years. Of these three years, 1« years was spent in building the Temple. This work was done be the priests alone. During this time workers were not hindered by rain during the day. It only rained at night. Herod's Temple was the most beautiful building in the world. It was built of marble. Herod wanted to cover it with gold; however the priests advised him not to do this because G-d is humble. Instead, he built a golden crown for the Temple which was between 65 and 70 meters high (214 - 231 ft).

The Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans on Tisha b'Av, 70 c.e. The Romans took many of the vessels and gold from the Temple to Rome where they are held to this day in the basement of the Vatican. The destruction of the Temple was a terrible event in the life of Israel. Despite the destruction, the site remained holy in the life of Israel. Jews from all over the world prayed with their faces and their hearts towards this place. Even the dead were buried facing this place. Five times a day in all their prayers, Jews cried to G-d to bring them back to this place and to rebuild the Temple here. This is symbolic of their religious and national desires for redemption. Jews who made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, tore their garments in front of the Temple Mount to express their mourning.

From the moment of the rebirth of Israel, and especially after the Six Day War of 1967, the campaign of the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement started to rebuild the Temple. We believe that the Temple must be built on the same location and with the same design and size as the First and Second Temples. After 30 years of this G-dly campaign, we know that we are closer than at any other time to the fulfillment of this deep desire. The Word of G-d through the prophet Isaiah is soon going to become a reality; "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. And many people shall go and say, 'Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the G-d of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for from Zion shall go forth Torah, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.'" (Isaiah 2:2-3)

Archeological Discoveries

Since 1967 there have been major archeological discoveries on the southeast corner of the Temple Mount. These digs have unearthed tremendous remains from both the First and Second Temple times. They give a foretaste of what will be found once digging commences on the Temple Mount itself. We shall mention only a few of them here -- The impressive steps leading up to the Hulda Gates on the southern side of the Temple Mount; remains of buildings, pillars, tunnels, pottery, candles, pomegranate designs which were on the garments of the high priests; ritual baths for those who wanted to enter the Temple Mount. Perhaps the most dramatic discovery was the massive stones of the wall and the Temple which fell in this area when the Temple was destroyed. They were found in the same situation as when they fell at the time of the destruction. The archaeologists had tears in their eyes when they discovered them.

Another exciting find was Hebrew "graffiti" on the western corner of the wall of the Temple Mount which was written by Jews who made pilgrimage after the destruction. The "graffiti" included the Scripture from Isaiah 66:14 "And when you see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like grass;" This was the Word of G-d concerning the rebuilding of the Temple and the end-time redemption. It was the deepest desire of the people of Israel in those days and a clear message to our generation.

The stone which would have been a "head cornerstone", the last stone laid, for the tower on the southeastern corner of the walls of the Temple Mount was also found. This stone belonged to the tower where a priest stood every Friday and blew a trumpet to signal the start of Shabbat. On Saturday evenings the trumpet was also blown to signal the end of the Shabbat. There was also graffiti on this stone which said in Hebrew; "to the house of the blowing". We shall tell of other exciting discoveries in our next newsletter.

The Name of G-d on Jerusalem

The G-d of Israel has placed His Name on Jerusalem not only spiritually but also physically. Three valleys surround Jerusalem and the Temple Mount -- the Kidron Valley to the east, the Valley of the Spirits to the south and west, and the Valley of Hinnom to the west. The Temple Mount is in the midst of them. The valleys, together with the city make up the Hebrew letter "Shin" ( ) which is the first letter of the Name of G-d -- Shaddai ( ). The letter Shin, as the Name of G-d, is written on all the Mezzuzot on the doors and gates of Jewish buildings. The name Shaddai has three letters in Hebrew. The first, 'Shin', stands for Shomer, keeper; the second, 'Daleth', stands for Daltot, the doors; the third, 'Yod', stands for Yisrael. Together they form the phrase - "Keeper of the doors of Israel". This exciting appearance of G-d on Jerusalem is a dramatic fulfillment of the promises of G-d that His eyes, heart and attention will be constantly on His people and city. Those who come to Jerusalem should not miss this G-dly view. It also reminds us that Jerusalem and the Temple Mount is the gate to heaven.

Healing in the Walls

According to a very old tradition, the walls of the Temple Mount and Jerusalem have special healing qualities. According to this tradition, everyone who watched or touched the walls was healed of their illnesses, wounds or injuries. G-d put His blessings on the city and its walls. The tradition holds that in the end-times, Jerusalem will be surrounded by seven walls of gold, silver and the five most precious jewels. Light will reflect off the walls from one end of the world to the other. All the gates will be glorified with jewels and will sing songs and the houses will say "Hallelujah" meaning "Give glory to G-d".

The Tombs of David and Hulda

According to Jewish law, dead bodies had to be buried outside the city. Throughout the 3,000 year history of Jerusalem, only two people were buried inside the city -- King David and the prophetess Hulda. The reason was the admiration of the people of Israel for these two holy figures. The tomb of Hulda was even built in front of the southern gates of the Temple Mount and the gates named after her. The tomb of David was discovered on Mt. Zion close to the present Zion Gate of the Old City and is there to this day. We know that in Biblical times, Mt. Zion was within the walls of the city. Israelis intercede before G-d on behalf of the people near the tomb of King David.

Donations for the Building of the Temples

One of the most exciting stories connected with the building of the First and Second Temples concerns the donations and love-offerings which Israelites gave to the builders for the honor of the G-d of Israel. Everyone, even very poor people, wanted to have a part in the House of G-d. People gave gold and silver. Women gave all their jewelry. They were full of joy that they had the privilege to have a part in the House of G-d.

Tradition tells the story of a rabbi in the Second Temple age who was a very poor man. He wanted to give a donation with all his heart. He prayed that G-d would give him the means to donate something. G-d answered and directed him to the Judean desert where he found a special stone for the building. By a miracle he was able to carry the stone, even though it was heavy, all the way from the desert to the Temple Mount.

He was not the only one who donated a stone. Many others did likewise. The stone which we referred to above which came from a tower on the walls of the Temple Mount was one of those donated stones. It was found in the archeological digs. One of the most beautiful gates of the Temple, the Nicanor Gate, was donated by a very rich man whose name was Nicanor. He had the privilege of having his name on the Temple.

We want to remind everyone that this unique and beautiful tradition has been renewed in our time. We want to thank our friends who have donated. We have received jewelry from women and a few articles of gold and silver. All of this has been contributed to the campaign for the preparation of the Third Temple. The Temple Mount Faithful is doing everything possible to procure a house where these exciting stories will be exhibited. We thank all of our friends who have contributed; they will have a part in the final House of G-d.

TEMPLE MOUNT FAITHFUL FINANCIAL REPORT

We want to thank all of you so much for your continued generous financial support. Your support is holy to G-d and to us. Your support gives us the ability to perform our activities and realize our goals. Allow us to share with you that every cent of all donations received is used for our common goals. 	1. Purchase of a house in the Old City close to the Temple Mount which will be used as a center for the preparation for the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem. It will serve as a spiritual, educational and research center and for the day to day activities of the Movement. This will be an Israeli and International center open to everyone. It will serve as a bridge to the Temple Mount. It is so important that we do our best to save as much as possible for this goal.
	2. Architects costs for drawing up plans for the Temple.
	3. The needs for the Temple construction.
	4. Construction of the golden Menorah.
	5. Preparation for a permanent exhibition of Temple vessels and garments, unique donations of silver and gold for the Temple, copies of special correspondence and a full list of donors.

1. The Spiritual Center near the Temple Mount: The Movement is continuing the efforts to purchase a house close to the Temple Mount. This house will serve as a center for the activities of the Movement and as a bridge to the Temple Mount. This house is needed more now than at any time in the past. We feel that time is short. The house, when procured, will open a new stage in our activities which will be even more intense. This house will become a holy focus and a center for everyone. It will be a place to visit before walking up to the Temple Mount for prayers, inspiration, and study. Important research on the Third Temple and the history of the First and Second Temples will be started at this house. Every donation is very much appreciated.

2. Plans for the Third Temple: We continue the efforts to prepare plans for the Third Temple. We feel that the moment to begin the building of the Third Temple is near. We want to be ready. We also want to prepare people to be ready for this moment. When the plans are ready we will submit them to the Israeli authorities for approval.

3. The Golden Seven-branched Menorah: We continue the efforts to reconstruct the menorah for the Third Temple. This is not a simple task because it requires at least 80 kilograms (176 lbs) of pure gold. The Tabernacle and the First Temple contained the menorah which was designed by G-d and constructed by Moses. It burned day and night. This menorah was hidden a short time before the destruction of the First Temple. Another menorah was constructed for the Second Temple and was taken to Rome (this event is portrayed in the triumphal arch of Titus). Even though we know that the original menorah will be found and placed in the Third Temple, we know from our heritage that we need to construct a menorah which will show G-d that our end-time generation honors Him. We will very much appreciate your help in achieving this very important goal.

Future Donations for the Holy Projects of the Movement

We again wish to express our appreciation and thanks for all your generous donations. Friends and supporters have opened their hearts in a spiritual, moral, and practical way to help the Movement to achieve our common holy goal. Your holy donations have given the Movement the ability to act to accomplish our goals, which we are close to achieving at this time. Your donations give us the means to achieve it even sooner. The future will involve even more activities as we relate to changing circumstances. This will involve increased expenditure.

The U.N Against Jerusalem and Israel

On 2nd December, 1998, the General Assembly of the U.N. passed a number of resolutions against Israeli. The first stated that Israeli sovereignty and law in Jerusalem is illegal. The decision also stated that the U.N. regrets that two embassies, those of Costa Rica and El Salvador, are in Jerusalem in this way they recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel . Another resolution called for Israel to withdraw from the Golan Heights while a third called on Israel to give self-determination to the so-called "Palestinians".

149 states voted in favor of the first resolution. Only Israel voted against the resolution while the United States and another 6 states abstained. 154 states voted for the resolution calling for self-determination for the "Palestinians". The resolution also called on Israel to withdraw from Judea, Samaria and Gaza.

This is not the firs time that this evil organization has passed resolutions against Israel. The meaning of these resolutions is very clear. All the nations of the world are against Israel. Again the giant Goliath is against the small David. They are armed with all the weapons and evil and small Israel has only a small stone and the Name of the G-d of Israel in her heart and on her lips. But this is enough. Israel, together with G-d, as in the Biblical times, becomes a majority and all the nations become a minority. 154 nations decided to fight against the prophetic decision of G-d to redeem the people and land of Israel and again to make Jerusalem the eternal capital of the G-d and people of Israel.

Jerusalem was founded 3000 years ago by King David to be the eternal capital of Israel according to the word of G-d. Since this moment and even before when G-d sent Abraham and Isaac to Mt.Moriah, Jerusalem became the heart of G-d and the people of Israel. The House of G-d, the Temple, was built with an unlimited dedication and devotion by the people of Israel for the honor of G-d that stated in His word that He wants to dwell in the midst of His chosen people, Israel, on Mt.Moriah in the midst of Jerusalem. The people of Israel swore "If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember you, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy." (Psalm137:5,6) For thousands of years the faces of every Jew have been directed to Jerusalem when they pray. The synagogues are built facing Jerusalem. The dead are buried facing Jerusalem. Jerusalem is in the heart of every Jew whether in joy or in sorrow. Jerusalem and the Temple Mount are the heart, soul and focus of every Jew and the State of Israel. Israel cannot exist for one moment without the G-d of Israel and Jerusalem which is the house of the G-d of Israel. This is a unique story of unique love between Israel and her G-d and her capital, Jerusalem. You will not find a similar case in the history of all the nations. Jerusalem is mentioned more than 700 time in the Tanach with deep love, appreciation and desire. The people of Israel glorified Jerusalem for thousands of years and built it to be the most city in the world not only because this city is their beloved capital but because this is the city of the G-d of Israel where His House dwells.

In the Q'uran, the holy book of the Muslims, Jerusalem is not mentioned even once. The Muslims occupied Jerusalem in 638 C.E. They controlled the city for almost 1300 years as a result of an imperialistic occupation. They occupied almost half of the world. Even after such along occupation, they never made Jerusalem as their capital. When they pray they face towards Mecca in Saudi Arabia very far from Jerusalem. They bury their dead facing to Mecca. When the pray on the Temple Mount or in Jerusalem they pray towards Mecca and their back to Jerusalem. After occupying Jerusalem, they destroyed the last beuatiful remains of the Temple and the city which the Jews built with such devotion, and made it another unknown, small and degenerate oriental city.

After a long time in the terrible, evil exile, after 1900 years of terrible persecution, holocaust, inquisition and many millions of Jews being killed because of their faithfulness to the G-d of Israel, His Word, the land of Israel which he gave them in an eternal covenant, to the city of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount and fighting for their dream and desires to se the fulfillment of G-d's prophetic promises to bring them back to the land, in a miraculous way G-d brought them back to the land in our time. He replanted their roots in the promised land. He liberated the land, Jerusalem and the Temple Mount from foreign British and Arab occupation and again founded the State of Israel. More than 20,000 Israeli soldiers and many civilians died in the battles which the Arabs, together with their allies all over the world, fought against the G-d and people of Israel to destroy G-d's prophetic plans to again make the land and people of Israel a Biblical nation, to rebuild the House of G-d and to bring Mashiach ben David and to again make Israel a treasure amongst all the nations. The foundation of the State of Israel means the opening of the door for the redemption of all the nations.

Now the U.N. wants to try to stop G-d's prophetic plans and to destroy Israel. They prefer the oil, money and the physical power of the Arabs and the Muslims above the G-d of Israel and the Universe and his plans to redeem, not only Israel, but all the world. 154 nations voted against G-d, Jerusalem and the chosen people of G-d, Israel. Even the United States, which was founded by G-d to stand with and for Israel against her enemies at this critical time, was not with the G-d and people of Israel. Such a shame. I am sure that the decision of the American president and government does not express the feelings of the majority of the American people who love Israel and her G-d. This is a time of testing for all the nations and the do not have the moral strength to meet this test.

We are living in the prophetic end-times which G-d prophesied through his prophets. Israel is at the focus of this time. G-d is again in the land of Israel and He is determined to accomplish His prophetic end-time plans for Israel. No one, even all the nations of the world, will succeed in stopping G-d and His determined decision to fulfill His prophetic plans for Israel. The prophets of Israel spoke in the Name of G-d and exposed this evil behavior of all the nations against the G-d and the people of Israel./ They spoke of the judgement on all the nations which is soon to come. The prophet Obadiah speaks of the nations which will come to take Jerusalem and the land from Israel and their judgement; "For your violence against your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off for ever. On the day that you stood aloof, on the day that strangers carried away his wealth, and foreigners entered his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, you were like one of them. But you should not have looked in the day of your brother, in the day of his misfortune; nor should you have rejoiced over the people of Judah in the day of their destruction; nor should you have spoken proudly in the day of distress. You should not have entered the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; nor should you have been among those who looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity; Nor should you have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his who escaped; nor should you have delivered up those of his who remained in the day of distress. For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your reward shall return upon your own head. For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually; indeed, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been. But upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions. And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau stubble, and they shall burn them and consume them; and none shall remain of the house of Esau; for the Lord has spoken it. And they of the Negev shall possess the Mount of Esau; and they of the Shephelah the land of the Philistines; and they shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria; and Benjamin shall possess Gilead. And this exiled host of the people of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, as far as Zarephath; and the exiles of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the Negev. And saviors shall ascend Mount Zion to judge the Mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's." (Obadiah10-21)

The prophet Zechariah says the same in the Name of G-d; "The Lord has been much displeased with your fathers. Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord of hosts; Turn to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will turn to you, said the Lord of hosts. Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, Thus says the Lord of hosts; Turn now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings; but they did not hear, nor did they listen to me, says the Lord. Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live for ever? But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? So that they repented and said: As the Lord of hosts intended to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so has he dealt with us. On the twenty fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shvat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, the son of Berechiahu, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying: I saw in the night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees in the glen; and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses. Then I said, O my lord, what are these? And the angel who talked with me said to me, I will show you what these are. And the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the Lord has sent to walk to and fro in the earth." (Zechariah1:2-10)

The G-d of Israel says the same through the prophet Ezekiel; "Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, Thus says the Lord God; In that day when my people of Israel dwells securely, shall you not know it? And you shall come from your place from the farthest north, you, and many people with you, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army; And you shall come up against my people of Israel, like a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when I shall be sanctified in you, O Gog, before their eyes. ... And it shall come to pass on that day, when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, says the Lord God, that my fury shall be roused. ... And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus said the Lord God; Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; And I will turn you around, and entice you on, and will cause you to come up from the farthest north, and will bring you against the mountains of Israel; And I will strike your bow from your left hand, and will cause your arrows to fall from your right hand. You shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you, and all your bands, and the peoples that are with you; I will give you to the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. You shall fall upon the open field; for I have spoken it, says the Lord God. And I will send a fire on Magog, and among those who dwell securely in the islands; and they shall know that I am the Lord. And I will make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them profane my holy name any more; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel. Behold, it has come, and it is done, says the Lord God; this is the day of which I have spoken. And those who dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the staves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire for seven years; And they shall take no wood from the field, nor cut down any from the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire; and they shall destroy those who destroyed them, and rob those who robbed them, says the Lord God. ... Therefore thus says the Lord God: Now will I bring back the exile of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be zealous for my holy name; ... When I have brought them back from the peoples, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations; Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, who caused them to be led into exile among the nations; but I have gathered them to their own land, and have left there none of them any more. And I will not hide my face any more from them; for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, says the Lord God." (Ezekiel38:14-16,18;39:1-10,25,27-29)

How blind all the nations and the U.N. are. They cannot see this Word of G-d or understand that they are nothing compared to G-d. They can pass all the resolutions in the world but only the resolutions of G-d will be fulfilled and their evil resolutions will fall and they will be punished. Why can't they learn from the Word of G-d and history? The are deluded if they think that they can destroy G-d's decisions. Why don't they learn from the history of the major powers which decided to destroy the G-d and people of Israel and made resolutions against them over the centuries and they were terribly punished by G-d and disappeared from history. Why are the unable or unwilling to understand that only the G-d of Israel controls the destiny of the nation of Israel and none pf its enemies. He is determined not to allow any one of them to even touch the people and land of Israel. The people of Israel are dedicated to be faithful to the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to His Word and to the land that He gave them in an eternal covenant, to Jerusalem and to the Temple Mount. Whether all the nations want it or not, G-d will soon accomplish His prophetic plans for Israel. He will rebuild His House and Mashiach ben David will soon come. In the G-d of Israel we trust.

Our quiet war in Iraq http://www.worldnetdaily.com/bluesky_btl/19990208_xcbtl_our_quiet_.shtml The U.S. Defense Department reported last week that missiles and bombs have destroyed about one-fifth of Iraq's air defenses, most in the past five weeks of clashes between American and British warplanes and Saddam Hussein's pilots and anti-aircraft batteries. Iraq has suffered about 40 hits on its air defense sites since Dec. 28, when the Iraqi military began attacking U.S. and British fighters patrolling "no-fly'' zones over northern and southern Iraq, U.S. defense officials say. That's more than during December's four-day allied bombing campaign, which coincided with House impeachment deliberations. Most Americans aren't even aware of the new low-intensity war the U.S. has been conducting in Iraq in recent weeks. It includes nearly daily airstrikes and missile attacks on sites that have nothing to do with the original target of the Desert Fox mission -- weapons of mass destruction. Here are some of the news stories that have come in below the big-media radar screen just last week: On Friday, Feb. 5: Supporting Iraqi casualty reports from two stray missiles last week, a U.N. report says 17 Iraqis were killed, including 10 children. On Wednesday, Feb. 3: Adding a new dimension to the U.S.-Iraq military confrontation, American warplanes attacked Iraqi anti-ship missile launchers newly deployed along the Persian Gulf. Pentagon officials said the Iraqi weapons had been moved to the area as a threat to ships in Kuwaiti coastal waters. On Monday, Feb 1: A defiant Iraq rejected a new initiative on ending its deadlock with the United Nations, while U.S. and British jets pounded Iraqi installations with intense bombings. Somebody needs to begin raising some questions about this new phase of the Iraq military campaign: What is the new objective? Where is this carnage leading? How will we define victory? When can we get the hell out of Iraq? Remember, President Clinton declared victory on the day he was impeached by the House last December. He said the U.S. bombing campaign had seriously set back Iraq's program to develop weapons of mass destruction. We would resume attacks, he said, if and when Saddam Hussein renewed his efforts to develop such arms. But the truth is, the attacks have never ended. And Clinton lied when he stated to the American people that the bombing campaign had reduced the threat posed by Iraq's weapons program. Defense Department officials have admitted recently that weapons of mass destruction were never even targeted in those bombing campaigns. For anyone paying attention to news in the Persian Gulf, it's becoming clear that the U.S. has no game plan in Iraq, no meaningful military goals and certainly no exit strategy. The airstrikes amount to little more than international harassment of Hussein and the routine killing and terrorizing of people who have no say in the way their government is run. There's a cost to this futile campaign for Americans, too. Even though U.S. casualties have been mercifully light, somebody needs to start adding up the bill. These frequent military buildups in the Persian Gulf since 1991 have cost American taxpayers at least $60 billion. I say "at least" because the Pentagon does not release figures on the spending for day-to-day Iraq duties. These are "guesses" -- nobody's really counting. In fact, nobody's really paying attention at all to what the administration is doing in Iraq. More attention is being directed toward another misguided foreign policy non-objective in Kosovo, where U.S. troops are about to be deployed under foreign command. Americans have also been distracted by the political charade in the U.S. Senate. And there's an irony in that development. This debacle in Iraq may well have started as a wag-the-dog scenario to get people's minds off of the impeachment issue. Now, it seems, Clinton is using his success in winning his impeachment trial to divert attention from his thoroughly immoral and dangerous foreign policy misadventures. There's no question Clinton is a skillful political propagandist and tactician. But he has also been the beneficiary of plain-old good luck in avoiding any serious military disasters or threats in the last six years. Can we count on that good fortune to last another two years? Big anti-abortion judgment appeal Group says First Amendment rights hang in balance By Stephan Archer © 1999 WorldNetDaily.com 2/8/99 Only days after an Oregon federal jury handed Planned Parenthood and four abortion doctors a judgment of $109 million against the American Coalition of Life Activists, plans to appeal the case on First Amendment grounds are under way. The case revolves around a website -- no longer posted on the Internet -- known as the "Nuremberg Files." On the website were the names of numerous doctors currently performing abortions nationwide; three of the names on the list had been crossed out due to deaths. In the lawsuit, Planned Parenthood and the other plaintiffs charged the defendants with passing out a "hit list" known as the "Deadly Dozen" posters on which the names of 12 abortion doctors were listed. The defendants in the case said that although they'll take full responsibility for the posters, they have nothing to do with the website. "They mistakenly thought we owned the website," said Charlie Wysong, a defendant in the case. This mistaken identity occurred when website owner Neal Horsley, thinking that the American Coalition of Life Activists would like to have their name on the site, posted it underneath the list. The ACLA later requested that its name be taken off the site. Although Horsley complied with the ACLA's request, the name wasn't off the site until after Planned Parenthood had made a hard copy of the site.. Speaking about the website, Chris Ferrara, one of the defendants' lawyers, said Horsley came to the trial and testified he didn't even know the defendants who were on trial nor was the list in any way connected to the "Deadly Dozen" posters. Horsley got the list for himself from a newspaper and posted the information on his site, according to Ferrara. Although the website was in no way linked to the defendants in the case, Cathy Ramey, a writer and editor for Life Advocate magazine as well as a defendant, said that the website's server, Mindspring, dropped it after the judgment. "Mindspring's free speech has been chilled," Ramey said. Even though the website was a moot issue in the case, it was the focus of the plaintiffs' arguments. According to Ferrara, they never even brought up the posters, which were the real issue in the case. Ferrara said although there isn't a threatening word on the posters, Planned Parenthood is trying to shut down the whole pro-life movement with this case. "The verdict is a massive publicity stunt by the abortionists," said Ferrara who referred to the possible outcome of the decision as a "Constitutional Chernobyl" having the potential of destroying basic First Amendment rights. Ferrara continued: "What the decision means (if it's upheld in the appellate court) is that if any pro-life group makes any literature about abortionists, they'll be liable by the 1994 Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and racketeering laws." Gloria Feldt, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, doesn't believe, however, that the decision has destroyed basic First Amendment rights. In fact, she believes it protects some of the most basic rights. "(The) verdict strikes back in defense of our doctors, our patients, and our constitutional right to provide important health services and information, free from fear," Feldt said. Speaking about the defendants, Feldt said, "These defendants care nothing about our democratic freedoms. They respect neither the rights of women nor the lives of the doctors who care for women. Their threats of violence and their public 'justification' of murder are meant to terrorize and intimidate, so that others cannot exercise their own rights." All the defendants deny Feldt's accusations of inciting violence and justifying murder and insist that they were simply exercising their First Amendment rights to express their opinions about abortion. "Every one of the defendants had taken a pledge of nonviolence," said Harvey Wysong, a paralegal for the defendants. At the top of the "Deadly Dozen" posters was printed, in big letters, the phrase "Guilty of crimes against humanity." Below this, the posters described how, during World War II, the Nazi regime provided abortions as a choice for East European and Jewish women. Later, during the Nuremberg trials, these abortions were seen as a war crime. Below this explanation was the "Deadly Dozen" list. Following the list was a $5,000 reward for information leading to arrest, conviction and revocation of the doctors' licenses to practice medicine (and abortions). Another player in the case was the American Civil Liberties Union, a self-proclaimed defender of constitutional rights. Taking part in the case as a "friend of the court," it didn't side with either the defendants or the plaintiffs. "We were a true friend of the court," said David Fidanque, executive director of the Oregon ACLU. "Our position falls somewhere in-between the two sides." Fidanque said that his group argued that there needed to be a higher standard of proof. The current court standard of proof was whether a reasonable person making the statement would have foreseen that the person receiving the statement would have perceived the statement as a threat to bodily harm. The Oregon ACLU believes that it should also have to be shown that the defendants who made the posters intended to threaten others through the distribution of the posters. "Our goal is to protect both interests in this case without compromising either one," said Fidanque. While the ACLU may have taken a middle ground on the case, Judge Robert E. Jones didn't, according to the defendants and others sympathetic to their case. "The judge portrayed the plaintiffs as terrorists," said Paul de Parrie, who, although not a defendant, was the first to come up with the idea of the "Nuremberg Files." De Parrie said that the judge had created a security situation by making two city blocks around the court house a "no parking" zone. According to de Parrie, the judge also allowed the plaintiffs to show their context of why the pro-life movement was "dangerous," but, at the same time, he didn't allow the defendants to show their context of how little violence, if any, is actually associated with the pro-life movement. Regarding this apparent bias, Charlie Wysong said, "The one thing we knew going into court was that we were guilty until proven innocent." Because of the "biases" in the court room, the defense issued 50 or more motions for mistrial, but all of the motions were denied. Before any streets were blocked off to parking, the FBI contributed to the "hit list" scare surrounding the posters. Soon after the posters were first distributed, the FBI contacted the doctors on the list and told them that they were on a "hit list." According to Wysong, they offered the doctors 24-hour protection by federal marshals because of the list. "Now my free speech rights are determined by someone in the FBI," Wysong stated emphatically. Regardless of what happened in Judge Jones' courtroom, Wysong and the others involved with the defense's case believe the chances are good that the case will be overturned in appeals. In fact, the verdict may be falling apart already. Although the plaintiffs filed a preliminary injunction against the defendants and the website to prohibit them from ever passing out pro-life literature again, the judge stated that it is not in his jurisdiction to shut down the website. "If the judge starts issuing a preliminary injunction on posters and websites, he will be on constitutional 'quick sand,'" said Wysong. Even if the verdict isn't overturned, the pro-lifers say they won't stop the fight. "When people have been forbidden freedom of the press or thought, they've gone about their business anonymously," said Wysong. "If we have to go about our work anonymously, we will."

Knife laws sharpened to cut crime

Police have confiscated more than 2,800 knives, mainly from young men, since July, and from today new laws prohibiting weapons such as missile launchers, extendable batons and stun guns come into effect.

They also ban ballistic knives, which are propelled like missiles.

But the Police Commissioner, Mr Peter Ryan, called for tighter national laws to stop the weapons coming into NSW from other States and overseas, saying it should be illegal to order the items from magazines or the Internet.

Changes to the Weapons Prohibition Act also include a three-month amnesty allowing people to hand in weapons at any police station - no questions asked.

To avoid the controversy that surrounded the sale of firearms handed in during the gun buy-back in some States following the Port Arthur shootings, Mr Ryan said yesterday that all surrendered weapons would be destroyed.

The Minister for Police, Mr Whelan, said the new act contained the toughest controls on prohibited weapons in Australia, including fines of up to $11,000 or 14 years' jail. "We are now one step further in making Sydney's streets a lot safer. The old Weapon Prohibition Act was very cumbersome. It was out of date. We've streamlined it."

The Premier, Mr Carr, said one of the main reasons behind the crackdown on prohibited weapons was the safety of police.

"One of my saddest experiences - no, the saddest experience - I've had as Premier of NSW was going to the funerals of police officers killed in the line of duty," he said.

"I want to commend the men and women of the Police Service for the way they've used the additional powers that we've given them ... we couldn't, as a Government, have given these increased powers to a Police Service if it had been the old, unreformed, pre-Royal Commission Police Service."

Specifically, the law bans possession of prohibited weapons without a permit and expands the range to include ballistic knives, missile launchers, stun guns, flash grenades and extendable batons.

The new laws will not affect war veterans or crossbow club members who hold valid permits, or groups such as security guards who have a genuine need for weapons.
