"Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming" –gospel musical comedy
It's October, 1945, and the gospel-singing Sanders Family is back together
again. The war is over and America's years of prosperity are just beginning. But
there's another kind of rite of passage at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where
Reverent Mervin Oglethorpe is giving his last service. He's been called to
preach in Texas, and he's already bought a ten-gallon hat and is preparing to
ride into the sunset with his wife June, who is eight months pregnant. Tomorrow
morning, young Dennis Sanders takes over as Mount Pleasant's pastor. Join the
Sanders Family as they send Mervin and June off in style, with hilarious and
touching stories and twenty-five toe-tapping Bluegrass Gospel favorites.

November 19, 20, 21, 22
"Dracula" (drama)
An enormously successful revival of this classic opened on Broadway in 1977
fifty years after the original production. This is one of the great mystery
thrillers and is generally considered among the best of its kind. Lucy Seward,
whose father is the doctor in charge of an English sanitorium, has been attacked
by some mysterious illness. Dr. Van Helsing, a specialist, believes that the
girl is the victim of a vampire, a sort of ghost that goes about at night
sucking blood from its victims. The vampire is at last found to be a certain
Count Dracula, whose ghost is at last laid to rest in a striking and novel
manner. The play is intended for all who love thrills in the theater.

April 15, 16, 17, 18
"You Could Die Laughing" (mystery comedy)
Television mogul Jacque St. Yves invites eleven has been comics to his island
lodge off the Canadian coast to audition for the central in role his new TV
series. It's an opportunity to die for ... and that is someone's intention!
Shortly after arriving, the comics find they are stranded along with the pilot
of St. Yves's private jet, the attractive flight attendant and the couple
employed as housekeeper and handyman. That night, the housekeeper disappears
during a violent thunderstorm and her husband drops dead after ingesting candy
that any of them could have sampled. Laughs and chills abound until the
startling truth emerges and the tension mounts.

The Playhouse announces auditions for their next production, Twelve
Angry Jurors, at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12th and Tuesday,
January 13th, in the Grand Studio of the Arts Council of Wilson.
Twelve Angry Jurors is a drama by Sherman L. Sergel that was adapted
from the television show by Reginald Rose. A 19-year old man has
just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father, and now twelve
jurors are led into the jury room to determine his guilt or
innocence. What appears to be an open-and-shut case becomes a
personal journey for each juror as they bring their own experiences
into the jury room. The evidence and various testimonies are
examined and re-examined, tempers get short, deliberations grow
heated, and they become twelve angry jurors. Debbie Williams directs
this production that requires a cast of 15 adults. Production dates
are Thursday, March 5th through Sunday, March 8th at the DelMastro
Auditorium on the campus of Wilson Community College. Those
auditioning will be asked to read scenes from the play.

The Playhouse previously announced that "Noises Off" would be the
third show of this season, but due to the temporary closure of the
Boykin Center for repairs and the relocation of this production to
the DelMastro Auditorium, a show with a less complicated set was
needed. The Playhouse had planned to produce Twelve Angry Jurors
last season, but production rights were refused by the publisher
because it was on national tour. It seemed like the perfect solution
for this season, so production rights were requested again and were
granted. The Playhouse is pleased to be able to bring this classic
drama to Wilson audiences. Anyone with questions about these
auditions should contact Debbie Williams at 236-7266.

AUDITIONS

The Playhouse announces auditions on October 6 and 7
at 7:00 at The Arts Council for the second show of the 2008-2009
season, "Christmas Belles," a southern comedy written by our favorite
playwrights, Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, and is a
sequel to "Dearly Beloved," the saga of the Futrelle sisters,
Frankie, Twink and Honey Raye. "Christmas Belles" is a hilarious
comedy about a Christmas program that goes way out of control.
Squabling sisters, family secrets, a surly Santa, spiteful sheep and
a hesitant Elvis impersonator join together for side splitting, aisle
rolling, tear jerking comedy. But the three sisters, being the
Southern Belles that they are, pull it all together to present a
program that the town will never forget The Playhouse performed the
first play in September, 2006. There are roles for 7 women and 4 men
and all roles are open for auditions. Show dates are November 20-23.
Rehearsals will begin October 12 and will be on Sunday, Monday,
Tuesday and Thursday nights for the first few weeks. We need
volunteers for set construction, costuming, lights, sound, backstage
crew, box office, concessions and ushers. If you have any questions
about the auditions or the show, please call Jeff Creech, Director,
at 237-3417.

possibly be the only work day we will need, so anyone who can help for
any amount of time would be greatly appreciated! Any questions, call
Jeff Creech at 290-0692.
