Some I've enjoyed, and some I've found to be interesting, but ultimately not my
thing.  What I've done when I go to a new location is I just see what places
my GPS can find as far as food in the general vicinity and then see what sounds
good to try.

Handfulls of fresh toppings on the pizzas, not sparsely dealt out.  They can
be expensive, but to me, they're worth it.  Though its one of those places
where people either love it or hate it, not much middle ground.

No problem Chris.  Hope you have a great time here this weekend.  I always forget that its easy for those of us that can go home and make dinner whenever we want throughout the weekend.  Have a safe trip in.

Hey Donnie,

We don't have many of note right now, X-Men Noir's, Dennis Calero, Gene
Gonzales and Ed Beard Jr. are 3 that I know of off the top of my head, but let
me check with Renee today and get back to you. Then I'll make it a point of
getting the cancellations up on the site. With the change to the website for
2012 it completely skipped my mind, so thanks for reminding me.

Unencumbered shopping and getting on Sketch Lists for fan favorite artists are
your advantages. But we run until 7:00 on Friday, so you could probably let Jr.
finish out the school day. (I can already hear his groans of disappointment.)

Best way to explain it is if you want to get a special sketch hand drawn by a favorite artist of yours, it is best to make your request to them early.  If it's not just a quick sketch that can be done in a few minutes, it will take them some time and they have lists that they work through.  If you want to get the piece before the weekend is over its best to get on their lists early.  That doesnt affect your ability to buy any prints or sketch pieces that they already have completed and for sale.

i just got to thinking....
if i get this new costume done in time i plan on wearing saturday. its a one off, totally made up character but there are attachments on my arms.

when i go to the window and pay i have to put my arm through and get the wrist band put on, well this is going to be a problem with the attachments.

will they give it to me so i can put it on myself? even better would be to have them pass out admission tickets <life raffle tickets> and present them at the front door and have the checkers there put them on.

i had thought about going up and paying first in partial costume and having the band put on but once the arm pieces are put on the band would be covered and that presents a problem at the door.

thanks

A piece of Bad News..... we found out yesterday that Peter Mayhem has to cancel
his appearance at the 2012 Pittsburgh Comicon. He was offered a last minute
acting gig, and actors gotta act. He is truly sorry to disappoint his Pittsburgh
fans. He did overnight some autographed 8 X 10 that will be available for sale.
Other cancellations that I know of...... Ed Beard, Jr., Dennis Calero, Gene
Gonzales and Rob Jones. If anything else crops up, I'll try to let you know.
I'll be heading to the convention center around 11:00 this morning and will be
incommunicado for a while.

For those folks who have expressed that it is going to be their first time to the show, as others have mentioned previously it can be a long time spent on your feet and standing in lines.  Be sure to make yourself aware of the various panels and things going away from the floor.  The quick sketch is fun to watch the artists turn out original pieces, some very good and some just plain hilarious.  It's worth attending the quick sketch just to watch Stuart Sayger work.  These panels and activities give you a chance to sit for a half hour to hour and get a bit of rest.  Take it from someone with chronic back pain, you dont know how much just 30 minutes off of your feet can help throughout the course of a day.  For a list of the activities and panels, here is the link from the website so you can plan what you what to attend.

(Be forewarned, Pat just announced that Peter Mayhew had to cancel at the last minute, so his panel on Friday will not be taking place and as previously announced the second Stan Lee panel on Sunday will not be taking place.)

That usually varies by artist and based on exactly what you want. Usually
pencil sketches cost less than an inked piece and an inked piece my cost less
than a colored piece. Also depends on how detailed the piece is. There are a
number of factors that determine the price. Always best if you're really
insterested to discuss what you're interested in with the artist to get an idea.

it's not just a quick sketch that can be done in a few minutes, it will take
them some time and they have lists that they work through.  If you want to get
the piece before the weekend is over its best to get on their lists early.
That doesnt affect your ability to buy any prints or sketch pieces that they
already have completed and for sale.

I believe that Pat said previously that the second Stan Q & A is not going to be
held. The reason given is that Stan wanted to give everyone that wanted an
autograph the chance to get one within the time allowed. The Q&A on Saturday I
believe is still on. I imagine it will be posted at the show.

It's the second Q&A from what I read.  Stan wants to use the time for autographs instead of having a second Q&A on Sunday.

Kind of like today George Perez had a huge line of people wanting to see him, so he asked it to be announced that he was not going to be doing his panel at 4pm.  He wanted to be sure that everyone had a chance to see him and get their stuff signed.

For a Friday, I think there was a pretty decent crowd.  There overall seemed to be a pretty good mood everywhere I looked.  During the quick sketch, one of the artists asked 'How about a zombie Dick Clark?' which was met with comic groans and a chorus of 'too soon'!    Tommy Castillo turned out two really nice pieces during the sketch and had everyone rolling during the introductions.  One of the guys on the panel by way of introductions jokingly said, "Hi I'm Bob Kane and I created Batman."   When it got to Tommy, he trumped it by saying, "Hi I'm Tommy and I created Bob Kane" which got a big laugh.

Over all spirits seem good all around.  There were a few folks in costume, but not too many today.  Heading up for the Casino night festivities now.

I'm thinking about going up Sunday, how are the vendors this year? Lots of

Thanks!
