I know many of you are on facebook, about 8 days ago, to my surprise, i went to
sign in and my account was disabled, no reason why was given, i followed all the
steps recommended and still havent been able to sign in or given a reason why i
was disabled. I did some research and apparently this happens to thousands of
people pretty often, The reason Im posting this here is, I want to ask if any
of you know of anything i can do to get a remedy for the situation. thanks for
your time.

I know what you mean! Was yours attached to the suit, or was it removeable? I
gave up and just started unbuttoning mine every time. Red Tornado is the first
caped character I've done. Last year, I got so tired of having to stop and put
down my purse every time someone wanted a picture, that I sewed a pocket inside
my cape this time. It was a little more visible than I'd like, but at least I
had somewhere to keep my money. Next time I make a cape, there will be an
inside liner to make the pockets a little easier to hide.

Hey folks,

Below is the official Thank You that is going out to our email subscribers, but
let me personally Thank all of you as well. I look forward to talking to you
all through the convention process, your passion, enthusiasm and feedback is
always appreciated. I was happy that I got to see many of you at the show,
(Dugger, Donnie etc.) Will, I was going to introduce myself at the costume
contest, but you were busy with "Pirate" business, but you looked great!!

Highlights of the show for me were getting my very first comic (Batman 279)
signed by Ernie Chan.

Winning a great Jay Fife Elvira piece at the Make-A-Wish Auction

and seeing the enthusiasm of artist, Antonio Clark at the Quick Sketch. (anyone
that was at Quick Sketch will know what I mean. This young artist's attitude
was contagious.)

I'll be in touch with info on 2011, but right now I think I'm going to take a
little rest.

Talk to you all soon,

P.A.T.

THANK YOU PITT-CON FANS!!!!
_____________________________________________

Greetings Comiconiacs,

This email is going to be one extended "Thank You" to everyone that made the
Pittsburgh Comicon 2010 great!!

First and foremost, Thanks to all of you. I have long been of the belief that
all we have to do is get a guest to come to Pittsburgh for the first time, and
the fans of the Comicon will do the rest. The feedback we get from the guests
is always the same. The Pittsburgh Comicon fans are the friendliest and most
welcoming they have ever encountered. Tom Mandrake and Ernie Chan have both
shown interest in returning in 2011 and that is all due to you. So Thank You
Everyone!!

Also thank you to everyone that took part in our Charity Fund Raising efforts
for 2010. We raised over $13,400 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and we made a
boat load of money for other charities, including: The Comic Book Legal Defense
Fund, Heroes Initiative, Angels Under the Stars and the Pittsburgh Food Bank.
Everyone is always so generous with their time and money, we are proud of the
good we can do every year.

Special Thanks yous go out to:
Tommy Castillo for handling the auctioning duties at the Make-A-Wish Auction.
Al Dorantes and the crew from Luchador (plus all the artists involved) for all
the stunning tiles created for the Make-A-Wish Auction.
Roy Thomas for collecting for the Heroes Initiative
The Science Fiction Alliance of Pittsburgh for collecting for the Pittsburgh
Food Bank
Lauren Perry for recruiting artists for the Quick Sketch
Hanger 18 Shirts for donating the paper for the Quick Sketch
And all the artists that donated their time and talent to both the Quick Sketch
and the Charity Auction.

We already have some plans in the works for 2011 so stay tuned, I'll be back in
touch before you know it.

Post convention pics will be going up on the website shortly, but for a full
gallery of our post convention pics, check out our Facebook page.

Again, Thank You all for making the Pittsburgh Comicon great, and start making
your plans now for Pittsburgh Comicon 2011, (April 15, 16, 17, 2011)

I just had it saftey pinned on. Luckily my friend was willing to carry my bag
around for me. Though the idea of sewing a pocket in the cape is a really good
idea! I'm going to have to give that a try! :D

In case anyone has missed it, we lost one of the greats in the field today,
Frank Frazetta. It is kind of funny, they say that these kind of things run
threes. We lost Dick Giordano a short time ago and now Mr. Frazetta. I never
got the chance to visit the museum in Eastern PA, now, I wish I had. It was
only recently, within the last 10-15 years or so, that I came to appreciate the
level of Mr. Frazetta's talent. I admired his art, but I never truly
appreciated it. It wasn't until I began to see comic and fantasy art as true
art, and much of that has to do with being a part of the Comicon since the
beginning, that I really began to appreciate the 'art' of this industry.
Everyone knows Mr. Frazetta's 'Death Dealer' paintings, and have seen his pieces
in various magazines, on album covers, and on book jackets. Once you actually
see the original work, the actual canvas, the actual hand-created vision in
color, it makes you feel as if you are in
front of a piece of work on loan from the Met or Louvre. I hope that his
legacy will continue to live on through his art and our appreciation of it.

As you may know from previous posts, I was the con attendee that was dressed as
Thor. My friend was dressed as the Monarch Henchman.

I was wondering if any of you had pictures of the two of us? I know quite a few
people took photos, but I have only been able to find one through browsing
around.

Just curious!

Cheers!

Since we are about a year away until the next show I was wanting to start a list
of people that attendees would like to meet.

Francis Manapul
ANY original Image creator
more Top Cow and Aspen creators
George Perez and Marv Wolfman (to discuss the 25th or s anniversary of Crisis)
more tracers (ooops I mean inkers LOL)
also more writers like Geoff Johns, Levitz, Shooter, etc.
Would love to see if you can get DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, etc. to actually set up
a booth

The Evil League of Evil panel was amusing. I'd love to see that again. For that matter, I'd actually volunteer to help with it too.

As far as guests, get more writers.

Ed Brubaker, Greg Rucka are all names I'd love to see.

This year, I noticed that someone donated some custom Barbies for the auction.
They also had a table at the convention with dolls on display, but I don't know
if they were selling them. I think the one character was Witchblade, but I'm
not sure about the other one.
I also make custom figures in various styles and was wondering if they would be
accepted if I donated a few. If they would, what would be a good format? Which
characters would probably be most desirable? I know that original art and
unusual pieces by well-known artists and writers seem to get the most bids, but
I'd love to contribute too.

I just noticed that you were unable to see the picture Nate linked to. I was
able to view it just fine, but it might have had something to do with how he
uploaded it from his phone. Here is a link to the same picture from my
Photobucket account. Sorry that it's just myself and the Henchman, but as we
had already confirmed, you had just walked away to the ladies' room.

The Pittsburgh Comicon $10,000 Make-A-Wish Challenge!!!

Hello to All our Comicon Friends,

I know you don't expect to hear much from me this time of year, but we have
embarked on a challenge and we are asking for your help. As many of you know,
we are devoted to raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The charity is
near and dear to our hearts and in our long association with the Make-A-Wish we
have raised over $300,000 to fulfill wishes for children with life threatening
medical conditions.

Well in the next week we are attempting to raise $10,000 more. This is a
special fundraiser that we are conducting from today through Memorial Day.
$10,000 is the goal. We will be knocking on doors, making phone calls and doing
our level best to reach that goal in a single week and as a part of that effort
we are contacting you to help us. Any contribution will be highly appreciated
(and of course tax deductible). You can mail donations to the Comicon office
at: 1002 Graham Ave. Windber, PA 15963, you can stop by and make your
contributions in person at the store in Windber, or you can make a contribution
through our paypal account, pcomicon@... . The generosity of our
guests and fans has always been that which makes the Pittsburgh Comicon unlike
any other show and we hope that you can help us in this endeavor.

ONE WEEK, TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR MAKE-A-WISH

With your help we can make our goal.

Thanks,

Patrick Thomas
Marketing Director - Pittsburgh Comicon

Checks can be made out to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and mailed to:
Pittsburgh Comicon
1002 Graham Ave.
Windber, PA 15963

or payments can be made on paypal to pcomicon@...

Of course your donation would be accepted and appreciated. You never know what
someone might be interested in at an auction, and custom figures are something
you don't see everyday. As far as which characters??? The sky is the limit, but
generally the more mainstream the characters (DC or Marvel, some of the better
known indy characters) are what sell best, but you can use your own discression.
If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask me.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hello folks, you received an email from me earlier in the week concerning our
Make-A-Wish $10,000 challenge. (or you saw it here on our Message Boards.) Well,
turns out by sending this email I broke an important Make-A-Wish rule. We
cannot solicit donations for Make-A-Wish from states other than Pennsylvania,
because our email list includes people out of state, I have to rescind my
previous plea for donations. The official statement concerning my mistake can
be found below, but I just wanted to say this was my fault and I'm sorry for any
inconvenience. If you are trying to get ahold of me you can find me out in the
woodshed. :( So, anyway here is the official statement on the matter,
Patrick.

Please disregard the email you received earlier in the week requesting
additional donations for the Pittsburgh Comicon to benefit the Make-A-Wish
Foundation. Unfortunately it was sent outside of the Greater Pennsylvania area
and we are not permitted to accept donations outside of this region. If you
made a donation and live outside of Greater PA your donation will be returned to
you. We will continue to raise funds to make wishes come true through the
Pittsburgh Comicon auction. Thank you and we apologize for this inconvenience.

Marketing Director - Pittsburgh Comicon
