I'm pumped and wanted to share :)
I contacted artist Gene Gonzales last month about a Ras Al Ghul/Talia Batman
piece. He started work on it and posted a video on his blog and youtube. He will
be at the show if you want to set something up. I'll post his blog link.

"Gene Colan's children have asked me to reach out to the comics community on
behalf of their father.

Gene was injured last week and is now being cared for by his son and daughter.
In addition, it appears that some of Gene's artwork has disappeared, including
pages from Nathanial Dusk and a Star Wars-related piece. The police are involved
in the matter.

If Gene Colan art is currently circulating in the marketplace, it is possible
that these pieces were stolen. Please email me if you see artwork that is the
least bit questionable.

I spoke with Gene early this evening and he is in good spirits, as always.
Unfortunately, he is also in pain and unable to use his right arm and hand at
this time due to a serious shoulder injury. Well-wishers should feel free to use
the comments section of this blog; I will make certain that Gene sees your
notes.

I will continue to update the community with regards to Gene's progress."

Hey folks,

We're under two weeks to go!!! Here is the latest e-mail update that will be
going out to subscribers (later today, I think)

I'll be in touch,

Subject: Some Cooool Stuff and Some Stuff You Should Know.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Comicon Cronies ,

We are just under two weeks away and I wanted to fill you in on Some Really
Cooool Stuff, and a thing or two you as con-goers should know.

First we posted the covers to this year's program book on the Make-A-Wish
Auction Page and they are both stunning.
The Front Cover is a Batman piece by Billy Tucci and the Back Cover is The
Ladies of Aspen by up-and-coming Aspen artist, Alex Konat.
Go to www.pittsburghcomicon.com/charityauction.html for a sneak peek!
The original art from both will be available for bid during Saturday's
Make-A-Wish Auction.

We also just added two special promotions to the site:

Ed Beard, Jr. will be selling an incredible Dragon print, (this thing is a huge
18 X 24), for ONLY $10 each. (Reg. $40)
and best of all, ALL of the proceeds from the sale of the print will be going to
the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Stop by Ed's Booth to pick one up and while you're at it "Thank" Ed for his
generosity.

Also Aspen Comics, has a special Pittsburgh Comicon Edition of Soulfire #4 that
will be available at the show.

For a look at both of these great items, visit
www.pittsburghcomicon.com/promotions.html

Lastly from the Cool Stuff department, the 2010 Pittsburgh Comicon T-Shirt is
available for pre-sale.
The stunning shirt penciled by Glenn Klimeck, inked by Bob Almond and colored by
Koa Beam is available for purchase now at:
www.pittsburghcomicon.com/t-shirts.html .
If you can't make it to the show, or if you are afraid of us selling out of
your size, you can pick one up right now!!!

In my last update, I mentioned the Belly Dancing with Princess Jasmine Kidz Day
Event and I didn't have a time, well it will take place on Sunday at 12:00 –
12:30.
This event is just one more addition to what we hope will be an incredible Kidz
Day. In my next update, I will give you a full rundown of the Kidz Day Events
and Giveaways.

Now just some detail-y stuff, that I should go over just so everyone knows,

We've talked about it both on the Message Board and on our Facebook page, but
for those of you not paying attention,
The show on Friday doesn't open until 1:00 PM, instead of 10:00 AM as in years
past. (We will still be opening at 10:00 on Saturday and Sunday.)
And don't forget 3 Day Pass holders can get in ½ an hour early on ALL THREE
DAYS.

Also for those of you coming to meet Roy & Dann Thomas, the pair have to fly out
early Sunday morning, so Roy and Dann will only be available for Friday and
Saturday of the show.

Anyone looking to attend our evening events, Casino Night (Fri.) and the
Make-A-Wish Auction (Sat.), please note that these events will be taking place
in the Ballroom of the Host Hotel, The Monroeville Doubletree and not in the
convention hall. The Hotel is directly next door to the Convention Center and
both events are open to everyone.

And lastly, artists and presale ticket holders, please enter through the V.I.P.
Entrance (the entrance closest to the Convention Center), General Admission
should go through the front entrance, (the entrance directly off of Mall Blvd.)

That's it for now, I'll be in touch at least once more before the show, but let
me say now, I look forward to seeing you all.

Thanks,

Patrick A. Thomas

For anyone that's interested, we'll be holding a memorial service at
the N3RDCast booth, S071, mourning the absence of long-time show
supporter D Griff. I know the show won't be the same without him, but
we'll be strong and soldier on!

In other news, stop by our booth anyway, we're doing a fun promotion
this year with a number of the independent creators - a bit like a
scavenger hunt, with a fantastic framed & autographed jam piece
contributed to by all the participating creators as a prize! Plus a
chance for special bonuses at all their booths as well!

If you want to come by just to whine about who's not at the show this
year, you can do that, too. But we'll make fun of you...

Act now!!! For a limited time only (because I only have one) will also include
the print that Mack gave me after he saw that I won. It is signed by Mack and
features Kabuki. So whoever wins the Death pic will also get this.

I believe the covers are on the actual Pittsburgh Pcomicon website on the
auction gallery page. Just go to the charity auction page in the Events section.

http://www.pittsburghcomicon.com/charityauction.html

Hope that helps. Also if you guys like the T-shirt artwork for this year. I
think Glen and Bob will both have different prints of it available at thier
booths to pick up. And ill have video clips of some of the digital coloring
process (I think ).

Try hitting refresh on the page Roger. I have problems with new things on the

Thanks, Pat, that did in fact do the trick.

While we are on the subject, if it's possible, next year I would make the pics on the Auction page hotlinks that link to larger, Hi-res pics of the art.  the small [ics just don't do these pieces justice in my opinion.

Try hitting refresh on the page Roger. I have problems with new things on the site appearing when they are first put up sometimes and that seems to do it.

That's how they get you to go and see the stuff at the auction...LOL. They suck
you in with the small pics.

I think Renee is planning a complete rehaul of the web site for next year so
I'll make sure that is on the list of things we want to change.

Hey Neil,

No I never recieved a scan of your piece. (Renee was having some computer
problems for a week or two and it may have come in to her during that time. If
you send it directly to me: patlqp@... I'll get it sent over to the
website right away.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hello everyone. I am Kevin Meinert and I am very excited to be in artist alley
again this year. I have noticed that some of you are talking about where
everyone is seated at in artist alley, can anyone tell me where I can find out
where I am at? Thanks for the help.

Hey Kevin,

I can't give you an exact location because Renee does the placement of the
artist alley tables once we are in the hall, but the if you look at the map that
appears on the registration page of the website, you'll see that the artists
alley is set up in the South Hall. The map has since been revised but it will
give you an idea of where the artist alley set up will be.

Lest you be concerned about traffic flow in the South Hall (an issue we had in
Sept., we have all our media guests back there, Kidder, Toy, the Star Wars
Guests etc. and we have what will potentially the largest t-shirt display you
have ever seen that will be in the South Hall as well. Plus lots of other cool
stuff. We just sold so many small press tables, we had no choice but to move
artists alley from last years location.

If you have any other questions or if need any thing else let me know.

Hey folks, since we're counting down the week to the Pittsburgh Comicon, I thought I'd let people know where I'll be (cuz I know a lot of you are curious LOL). I'll be in the Small Press area at table S018. You can check some of my work (mostly coloring some fantastic artists like Jamie Fay, Tod Allen Smith and Dan Shoening. Dan did a really nice sletch of Pat Carlucci's Witche Boo which he allowed me to color and I'll be selling prints of it, along with a print of mine in coordination with Tod Allen Smith and the folks at the Pittsburgh Con. All proceeds will go to Pat's church and/or the hospice that took care of him as per his wife's request. I'll also be unveiling a NEW action figure donated by Pat Billings.

You can check out more at my site at: http://charactersink.deviantart.com/

Cheers!
