I'm hoping to see everyone there tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, due to other
commitments, I can only be there Friday and possibly Sunday this year, I really
hope to have a great and fun weekend.

Party on, dudes.

i like the new places alot, bring your sun glasses bc that floor is shiny!  lol  nice lay out to the place and a good selection from some vendors. the artists small press people were great as always. got to meet alot people and chat them up for awhile. even scored some great gi joe prints! so all in all i'm a happy guy for going on a friday. it was kinda slow and alot of the celeb type people were missing but i understand its Friday and alot of them will not be there till the weekend.

sadly i'm going to miss the weekend due to the military but i love serving and happy that i got to do at least one day. i think i missed the last 2 bc of deployments. i got to take some cool pictures with some people too!

Glad the new place sounds good, Bart.  We're heading up shortly for the casino night as we usually do to check it all out.  I'm probably checking the con itself out tomorrow.  Be safe while you serve.

I looked around your myspace and I'd like to ask that you please not post photos
from deathcom.net with their logo stamp blacked or cropped out. Maybe you got
them from somewhere else and that had already been done, I don't know whether it
was you personally or not. But the DCM people are nice enough to take lots of
photos of the costumers and share them online, I don't think it's asking too
much for their credits to remain intact on their work.

It wasn't a bad con. I didn't really like how the artists alley was setup. For
example, I had a book that I wanted signed by Tucci, Igle, Hughes, Jusko, and
Moore. I had to go and get it signed on the one side by Tucci, Igle, and
Hughes, walk through the vendors just to get halfway to Moore and then the rest
of the way to get to Jusko. I liked it better when the artists were wrapped
around the wall. It made it easier to get to the artists.

Also it didn't seem like a lot of DIFFERENT vendors or small press. Might have
been the bigger space, but it seemed that vendors at this show had twice the
amount of space.

But, all-in-all it was a good show. I got my first Jam sketch, Sinestro vs
Darkness.

I enjoyed it. SOme of the vendors booths was to small, but im lookin forward to APril. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of freebie swag, heard many people talkin about it. Got the chance to introduce myself to Patrick, nice guy.  Who won the quilt??? LOL I cant believe i bought tickets to win a quilt, Im gettin old.
Bottom Line: 2 thumbs up for the con. Get George Perez back...

I had a great time. It felt different, but thats because of the new layout.
We'll see what April brings....Costume contest was fun as always.

I had a blast at the CON. This was my 2nd time there but it felt bigger and
better. I loved the prices on most of the comics. Wish they had newer ones at
all of the booths though. And meeting STAN LEE was totally awsome. Plus i got
several autographs from RAMONA FRADON, RON FRENZ , MIKE GRELL & GREG HORN.
Didn't get one from Adam Hughes though, he was a little too busy. But i had a
blast. I hope i get to go to next years. I do have one question though, would
there ever be a chance to have a COMICON down at DAVID L LAWRENCE CONVENTION
CENTER. I live on the WESTERN SIDE OF PITTSBURGH and Monroeville's quite a
distance. But hey, I went cause of Stan Lee.

I come down from Beaver county and I must say I enjoy it. I got a couple sketches (a thor frog, and a rocket racoon as cap). I also got my birthday cards done.

We went up for casino night on Friday as we usually do and had a blast there.  It was fun listening to Rene, Pat and the staff have fun and cheer the folks on when the time came to hand out to winners of the Chinese auctions at the end of the night.

Saturday was the only day that we went up to the con this year.  I had to work early that morning, so I didnt get there until a little before 11:30am and the Stan Lee tickets were sold out.  Glad to see that they sold out, disappointed I couldn't have got a ticket for it, but that's life.  I do like the new setup in the center.  Even a few of the artists that I talked to commented that the lighting is better then in the old Expo Mart.  I go more for the artists and guests then the comic book side of things.  I got a nice Bettie Page original piece from Jay Fife, so my weekend was a good one.

I didnt attend any of the seminars that were held, but I like how the rooms are easily found right off of the main floor area, thats a nice change and people wont need maps to be able to find their way to what interests them.  I think overall for the first convention in a new building, the pluses far outweighed the minuses.  The floor didnt seem as cramped as it always felt at the Expo Mart and the aisles were nice and wide as well.  The only minus that I could see that couldnt be corrected this weekend was that there seemed to be a lack of parking, but once the renovations are completed at the hotel next door, some more parking should open up, and it seems most folks also availed themselves to the parking next door at the Babies R Us.

Overall a nice start to the con's next chapter and I'm looking forward to April already!

This year's con was great. The new facility was a hit. The artists did keep
commenting about the better light. I was able to get some great sketches from
some of the folks. I got a great E-2 Huntress from Ramona Fradon, another great
E-2 Huntress from Jamal Igle, Glenn Klimeck (a.k.a. "Why is this guy not drawing
for the big guys?!?!? Guy") drew a fantastic E-2 Huntress for me (gee, I am
beginning to see a pattern here....), and I spent some clams on Jay Fife Island
for a pack of his prints (anyone wanna guess who was in the packet?). The
auction was another great event. I gotta say that the artists and dealers that
come to the show are generous to a fault when it comes to supporting causes like
the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Hero Initiative, CBLDF, and other deserving causes.
I am sure that once Patrick gets back in the saddle today or tomorrow he will
provide a better round up of information, especially regarding the Stan Lee
Event (and what an
EVENT it was ), but I just wanted to keep the good vibrations flowing.

I'd like to chime in and say that we had a fantastic time exhibiting
at this year's con. The hotel we stayed at (Days Inn) was downright
horrific (black mold, anyone?), but the con made up for it! The setup
was fantastic, we had good traffic all week, and as always, the con
staff were super and took great care of us. A lot of people enjoyed
our little 'scavenger hunt,' and we had great feedback from the
participants and a lot of interest from other folks that didn't
participate this time but definitely want to next time. Can't wait
till they get the signup page for next year, I want to get in early! A
HUGE thanks to all the staffers at the con (and Patrick and Renee
especially!) for doing such a great job - this is absolutely our
favorite con!

Sorry to hear about the Days Inn.  On the plus side, by the time the show returns to its regularly scheduled April time in 2010, Marriott should have the old Radisson, new DoubleTree, ready to go.

I am sure that once Patrick gets back in the saddle today or tomorrow he will provide a better round up of information, especially regarding the Stan Lee Event (and what an

I would like to see more writers at the show. The artists are great, don't get
me wrong, but writers are the first half of a book. Talking with Sean McKeever
was great. I would love to see Bendis to return.

Who would you like to see at the show? Let's be reasonable now. You know that
people like Jim Lee or Frank Miller will never come.

They got Mark Waid a few years ago, that was nice. Frank Tieri comes to mind as someone I'd like to meet.

Larry Hama.
not just bc i am a huge gi joe fan but he also has a strong wolverine following, batman, the nam....... so many other great things he has done.
i've met him before and man is he a great guy. very friendly and a joy to chat with. he's also a very good artist and thats where he first started and says is his true love above writing. i think he would be a good draw. especially now that the gi joe movie has been out.

I'd love to see Alex Ross, yes i know he's a artist, but still. Marv Wolfman's pretty darn good. I'll have to dig out one of my old Teen Titan comics or just bring along my CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS trade.

Dan Slott is a personal fav, and he's not far away and loves doing the
cons. Likewise Gail Simone - she's a bit further away, but she's great
to have at the cons and really does well with her fans.
