Hello All
Anyone wanting to carpool to the bowling alley from New Glasgow area should be at Maritime Auto by 6:30 PM. We can leave excess vehicles there as long as there is no snow in the forecast. In that case, the parking lot will need to be kept clear of cars for snow removal. If that happens, we can meet at my place, same time. I'll post something here if the meeting place changes.
Hope to see lots of you Friday
Deb

Hey Ruth
Didn't get paddling- they only guide groups of three or more, and there was only me interested. Too bad. I could have rented a kayak and gone myself, but I'm too much of a novice for that. So, I went hiking with a guy down here, watched a football game with him, drank a few beers, and then did it all again the next day. May not been as much fun as kayaking, but at least I didn't spend my time by myself in a hotel room. Look forward to seeing you & the gang on pub night (if I'm not working).

On my last paddle in Prospect the rusted buckles on my kayak seat back finally gave way.  Paddling without a backrest is really uncomfortable, I was to find out.

Since it was the end of season for me, I contacted Impex from their website and they referred me to Mid-Canada Fibreglass Ltd. in New Liskeard, ON,  where Brandie was very helpful in replacing the backband with a brand new one, honouring a free replacement guarantee, to my delight.

Just thought I'd let all you other Impex kayak owners know about the good service I got.

Cheers,
Ruth P.

Hello everyone, Woody has made an excellent proposal for the Christmas season coming up:
He suggests we canvass the Pictou County Paddlers for donations toward helping a local family enjoy a merry Christmas. Through the Children's Aid Society, we can sponsor a single Mom for $80, a child under 5 for $120, a child from 6-10 for $130, and a child 10+ for $145.

He's already got pledges from members that will cover the Mom, let's keep the momentum going and make a few kids happy who might otherwise have a dismal Christmas. The average donation seems to be $20 but please give whatever you can, it all helps!

To give, just make your pledge here on the group board, and Woody will contact you. If you don't wish to make your pledge public, please give Woody a call, he's in the 'phone book.

Thanks Woody, for such a great idea, and thanks to President Patrick for allowing this initiative space on the club web board.
I'm in for 20!

Glenn

Bowling night is Dec 11. Our alley reservation is for 8:30 PM, but I'm thinking the group might meet to have dinner in the attached restaurant around 7:00 PM.

I might have to be in Bridgewater for work, therefore, miss the bowling night altogether. I and 2 of my co-workers have to provide support around the clock from Dec 9 through to Dec 15. We aren't sure of our rotation yet, so you had better try to find another ride. Sorry.

Cheers,
Ruth P.

The Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting is at 7:00pm on Tuesday Nov.
24th. It's at the Fairbanks Center in Dartmouth, and usually ends around
9:00pm. I plan to attend both as a CKNS member and to again represent our
Paddling Club as we are an Associate Club with CKNS. I have already emailed to
them a report on our Club activities this year for inclusion in their Annual
Report. The meeting is open to all CKNS members and you can join at the AGM.
Thanks.

Great Wayne. I’d like to carpool, and Ruth is interested in going as well.
Why don’t we meet at the end of Robie Street then. What time do you suggest?

I’m up for a hike too!

Canada. My main goal was to challenge myself, and to become a more proficient
paddler. The Level 3 is another step. All of the courses combine instruction
on: improving technique, navigation, weather, sea conditions, recoveries &
rescues, leadership and group dynamics. I recommend paddlers seek-out
professionally-instructed courses to improve their individual knowledge and
skills. Then we're all safer. Hope this is the info you were asking about.
