FOSTER HOMES NEEDED

Urgent: The United States Equine Rescue League (USERL) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to the compassionate care of equines. Their mission is to
save, protect, and rehabilitate equines in need. They rescue abused, neglected,
or abandoned equines; provide them with care and rehabilitation; and finally
find them a compatible, loving home. New foster homes are needed. If you cannot
foster would you consider sponsoring (paying for feed and veterinary care) for
one horse? For more information contact Susan at msusanlee@....

SALLY is a two-year-old American Staffordshire or Pit Bull Terrier mix who was
rescued as a stray in early 08. Sally is all wiggles and love and weighs approx
45 pounds. Unfortunately her last foster home did not have a fenced yard nor the
time to walk Sally so Best Friends Pet Adoption (BFPA) are currently boarding
her at a local kennel and searching for a foster home. She is getting lots of
visits and playtime and training but she still needs a foster or forever family
to call her own. Sally has been at this kennel for almost 2 months. They are
worried that folks aren't interested in her because of her breed type and
continue to pray someone will look past that and just meet her to see how
awesome she is. People are the center of her world! Sally is happy, happy,
happy and does not know a stranger. She is very energetic and loving. She is
very smart and treat motivated and has learned to walk well on a leash. Sally is
both house and crate trained and is not a barker. Her one issue is that she is
dominant when meeting new dogs and needs continued practice in this regard.
Sally would do best as the only dog in a home and these are so hard to find,
hence this plea! Please consider meeting Sally and giving her a chance to be
part of a foster family until her forever family finds and adopts her. All
veterinary care and food will be provided by BFPA. If interested please contact
Andrea at ajgalinski@... or (919) 306-8500.

You will also be happy to know that the two mature dogs (one with three legs)
who were abandoned when their owner moved to Florida and waited at the end of
the driveway every day for two weeks for his return have found a permanent home
together!

PEANUT was adopted and SHINE was taken in by Chatham Animal Rescue.

FEATURED ADOPTABLE PETS

SHERLOCK BONES is a neutered male, Hound/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix and an all
around great guy. He is wonderful with kids, dogs and even his foster parents'
cat. He loves to ride in the car and does very well on a leash. He has a super
sweet disposition and is working on basic manners. He is very eager to please so
the rest of his training should be relatively easy if you remain consistent.
Sherlock Bones is housetrained and current on shots. Interested? Go to:

ZEKE is a one-year-old male red Doberman that is in need of a great home. He is
extremely sweet with people he knows, but has not been socialized well and as a
result can be overly protective. He has not been neutered yet. The ideal place
for him would be in the country, with other dogs. He gets along great with all
the dogs he has encountered. Thanks for giving this some
thought!
Interested? Contact Jennifer at corpeningjennifer@....

OSCAR is a ten-year-old, black male, indoor kitty whose owner is incarcerated.
He seems to do okay with cats, dogs unknown, and gets a bit grumpy with small
children. Up to date on shots, tested, neutered, seems to just like to hang out.
He needs placement as soon as possible before the influx of kittens and younger
cats starts. He will be the first to go when the shelter needs space. He doesn't
show well at Pet Smart events because he is used to his home. Interested?
Transport is available. Call Karen at (919) 255-8157 or email
animalcrazed@....

Yoko Ono is a spayed, 19 pound Japanese Terrier that was born on March 1, 2007.
Yoko's family lost their home to foreclosure and had to give her up so she could
find a new home. She is a great little housedog, loving her people very much.
She gets along with other dogs her size, but a little nervous around bigger
dogs. She is not sure what to think about cats but wants to play with them as
she would another little dog. She needs to take walks a few times per day. She
is house trained and current on shots. Please think about giving this little
girl a loving home. Interested? Contact Perry at lonespiritpc@... or
(919) 965-0704.

ROCKY, ROBIN, LUKE and BO's owner is in and out of the hospital receiving
medical treatment and cannot care for them any longer, however, he will not give
them up until he has found homes for them where they will each be loved and well
cared for. Do you have a home for one of these sweet dogs? If so, please contact
Perry at lonespiritpc@... or (919) 965-0704.

ROCKY is a neutered male Boxer/Rottweiler mix that was born on July 1, 2007. He
is black and tan and weighs 55 pounds. Rocky is very well mannered and knows how
to sit and stay, and comes when called. He is sweet, loving, and eager to
please. Does okay on a leash and is crate trained. Working on house training.
Good with kids but unknown about cats. Not micro chipped.

ROBIN had a very rough start in life and spent her first four years having
countless babies at a puppy mill. She was rescued and has lived with her foster
dad for the last three years. She is house trained, crate trained, walks okay on
a leash and can sit on command. She gets along with most other dogs and is cool
with cats and loves kids. She would be happy with a family that loves her
because she has a lot of love to give. She is current on shots, weighs 60 pounds
and is spayed. She is a chocolate Boxer/Hound mix and was born on April 14,
2001.

BO was abandoned at six weeks old by a man who neglected and kept him in a very
small pen, no doghouse, covered in feces, and with little to no positive
attention. Since then he has come a long way. Bo is very alert, sensitive to his
humans' needs, and is eager to please. He is okay with cats, likes kids, and
great with female dogs and most male dogs. He is working on leash training and
is house and crate trained. Bo is a brown brindle Belgian Shepherd Malinois/Pit
Bull Terrier mix and weighs 60 pounds and is altered. He was born on July 1,
2006.

LUKE is a very sweet, spoiled, overgrown lap baby. He is very well rounded and
personable. Cats are unknown to him but he is great with everything else. He has
more of a Pit Bull Terrier personality and needs some work on leash training He
is already house and crate trained. Like Bo, his brother, Luke is a two-year-old
Pit Bull Terrier/Belgian Shepherd Malinois mix weighing 60 pounds and lived his
early weeks being neglected. Now he is ready for a real home where he can be
your best friend for life.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Regarding TURK and ELLIOT, if anyone knows the contact information for Adrienne
Breaux, please email the editor, lisa@..., as soon as possible. Thank
you.

A young cat lover tragically passed away due to a failed organ transplant. While
her family is dealing with her death and her belongings, her most prized
possessions were her two Devon Rexs cats, TURK AND ELLIOT, and volunteers are
working as hard as possible to keep her death and ensuing chaos from tearing
them apart. Turk and Elliot have already found a permanent home in California,
however, there is a short period of time that the two will need a place to stay
(From April 3rd to April 22nd, where their stress can be minimized daily.
Ideally this foster home shouldn't be very active in terms of intaking from the
local shelters as they are trying to limit their exposure to illnesses before
their trip. If you have never had the pleasure of meeting or owning a Devon,
they are super sweet kitties that are smart and affectionate and have a unique
look and feel to their coat. Please contact Adrienne as soon as possible if you
think you can help or know someone that could at:

DOG FRIENDLY HOME FOR SALE IN N. RALEIGH

One of our Pet Foster Network volunteers, her husband and two Hounds are moving
away and they are selling their very dog friendly home! The backyard is fenced
and spacious and the detached garage would make a great place for a doggie door
so the four-legged could have their own big doghouse getaway. A perfect set up
for fostering! The neighborhood has lots of sidewalks and is nice for walking
the dog after dinner. For more information go to:
