Description

Pericope is a list primarily for LCMS pastors for the intention of discussing topics related to the lessons for the coming Sunday, sermons, and other worship related material. While anyone is welcome to join and participate, please know that this list is moderated by LCMS Lutherans for Lutheran pastors and other interested persons, and therefore, the approach is from a decidedly Lutheran perspective.

Special note to Vicars: While vicars are welcome here, please understand that the vicarage is a time you are learning how to do sermon development yourself. As long as your Bishop understands you are a member of the group, and you do the bulk of the work of sermon preparation yourself, you may participate in the group. Just don't expect other pastors to do your work for you, nor take their work as your own.

A related group, LCMS-Issues is for general discussions on issues in the LCMS. Please only post topics involving sermon development to the pericope list.

A related website, lcmssermons.com, allows postings of sermons for public viewing. Please consider posting your sermons there.

I've decided to focus on the last couple verses, what God delights in, how we don't delight in the same thing, then how Jesus was cast from God's presence and

Well done, Dan! I like your mention of Trinity Sunday being pivotal--looking back, looking forward--and drawing our attention to Jesus in this text. Great use
