People's Park, Berkeley, California, is a park created by the people of Berkeley, featuring community vegetable gardens, fruit trees, a performance stage, groves of trees, a basketball court, a lawn for picnics and sports, quiet escapes from urban life, and a variety of cultural, educational, celebratory and sports events throughout the year. People's Park was formed over 35 years ago because the community collectively engaged to create it.
